Zipacna faked his own death, letting the gods believe they had succeeded in slaying him. He came back when they were drunk one night and killed all 400 of them. The Hero Twins, Hunahpu and Xbalanque, took revenge on Zipacna by setting a trap involving a fake crab, Zipacna's favourite food. In the end, he was either killed by a mountain collapsing on him or being turned to stone. Judging from his appearance in FFXI, the designers probably interpreted him as having been turned to stone.
