Vagary 01Vagary 02

Vagary is all-new content that pits Vana’diel’s bravest adventurers against the Xol Triumvirate, with victors receiving hitherto unforeseen spoils and rewards. Winding passages found in the depths of Outer Ra'Kaznar lead adventurers to confrontations with all three members of the triumvirate: Balamor the Deathborne, Dhokmak the Brash, and Ashrakk the Duskbrood.

Joining the Fray

Players must meet the following requirements in order to participate.

  • Have the FINAL FANTASY XI: Seekers of Adoulin expansion installed.
  • Have registered the Seekers of Adoulin expansion content.
  • Have reached level 95 or higher.
  • Be a member of a party or alliance of between three and eighteen members.
    • The party leader must have beaten SoA mission 5-3-2 Watery Grave to be in possession of Key ItemPrototype sigil pearl.
      • There is no requirement for the other members of the party, but the encounters in Vagary may spoil parts of the story that unfold in the Seekers of Adoulin missions.

Obtaining the Key Item

The Gates to Vagary

  • There are three entrances to Vagary found in Outer Ra'Kaznar, each leading to different battles and monsters, and housing a particular member of the Xol Triumvirate.
    • NOTICE: The fastest route to these gates listed below is via the Enigmatic Warp in Adoulin.
    • The key item required for entry is the same for each of the entrances.
    • The key item is consumed only for the person entering the party.
  • Brash Gate (N-7)
  • Deathborne Gate (M-7)
  • Duskbrood Gate (N-6)

Probing the Depths

  • Vagary has a time limit of 45 minutes. Pioneers must vanquish the threats that lie within and keep pressing forward until they come face-to-face with one of the triumvirate.
  • Defeat of the zone bosses unlocks access to 119 Empyrean Armor reforging via Monisette.
  • Defeat of the zone bosses grants players with key items used to upgrade the level of the event. Verification Needed
    • Player must have progressed to a certain point in the Seekers of Adoulin storyline and have activated a cutscene in Leafallia regarding Vagary in order to obtain the key item.
      • Possibly need the cutscene after trading Befouled Water to Odyssean Passage in Leafallia to obtain key items from defeated zone bosses. Verification Needed
    • When setting the associated RoE, players must be alive in order to complete it.

Alternative Route

In October 2018 an alternative means to unlock armor slots was added. This process requires you come just short of completing the Seekers storyline but the fights are scaled down allowing access to upgraded armor. New battlefields have been added to Vagary where players can face off directly against a boss enemy of their choosing. (For sake of editing, it's easier to just say you should finish Seekers of Adoulin to do any of this)

Location of the Fights:

  • Obtain the “prototype sigil pearl” key item from the Odyssean Passage in Leafallia.
  • The key item can be obtained by trading the “befouled water” dropped by Fomor enemies encountered in Inner and Outer Ra’Kaznar. Or purchased from the Auction House (when in stock) under "Other>Misc #2".
  • Inspect the Ominous Postern in the Ra’Kaznar Turris and select the battlefield of your choice.
  • Destroy all enemies on the field.

Other Notes About this Route:

  • Must be in possession of the “prototype sigil pearl” key item.
  • One to six players may take part in the battlefield.
  • All party members must fulfill the necessary requirements.
  • The “prototype sigil pearl” key item is consumed upon entering the arena. It must be re-obtained in order to fight again.
  • A time limit of 30 minutes (Earth time) is in place for the battle.
  • After the battle, you will receive a title in accordance with your victory.
  • These battlefields will not yeild experience points, capacity points, or treasure.
  • These battlefields will not count toward the Vagary objective for RoE (Records of Eminence).

Vagary Rewards

  • The final bosses will drop materials crucial for synergizing item level 119 and Superior 2 equipment, as well as items necessary for reforging Empyrean Armor to item level 119.
  • Please notice that if you die before your rewards drop and your forced out of the battle field due to a timer ran out.. you will lose ALL drops that have not fallen to you!
