We don't allow linking to external images because we have no control over those images. If we link to someone's photobucket account for images in frequently used articles, and then their account runs out of bandwidth, or they remove the image, the article is broken. That is why we don't allow linking to external images. It is not possible to only enable that for the "User:" namespace, so it's not allowed at all. There were articles in the past where people would use external images, and the images got broken, so it was disabled to prevent it from happening again. It will not be re-enabled on the wiki. If people want to use external images for personal pages, they should be using the blogs. --[[User:Ganiman|Ganiman]] 11:19, 13 November 2006 (EST)

You made an edit to my userspace discussion page on "2006-08-14 16:33:21 Pinkfae" - you can see it under history. I've only just seen it myself but was wondering if you saved nothing accidently or not that's all. Or if you meant to leave me a message. --[[User:Drow|Drow]] 22:14, 26 February 2007 (EST)

Revision as of 03:15, February 27, 2007

Feel free to post on here regarding my profile page or anything that I post about. ^^ kupo! --Pinkfae 21:46, 6 June 2006 (PDT)

Stories

Just wanna say...that's a nice little story you've got there. I'm one of those people who you learn about bit by bit, until you finally get through the hard outer core into the soft nugat center and get the whole story D: Feba 09:30, 18 June 2006 (PDT)

Music

Nice work on the music category, it looks great! I've always been a fan of video game music, so I'm glad to see the soundtrack getting recognition here. Keep up the good work! --Enfield 10:55, 22 June 2006 (PDT)

Stub Usage

Go Team Venture!!

In all seriousness... Rock on. --Nynaeve 13:24, 27 June 2006 (PDT)

Can you make the addition of the stub template a minor edit? --Gahoo 08:36, 7 July 2006 (PDT)

I was just asking that when you only add one of the stub templates to a page, that you click the box right above "save page" to indicate that it is a minor edit. --Gahoo 08:43, 7 July 2006 (PDT)

Chit Chat

Hahahaha... Awesome. Well we are Americans, we should stand out in our outlandish snobbish way... I was a big English nut in H.S years ago and in College that was my Major, so I see mispellings and I get almost as bad as Mierin. I like consistency and correct spellings. But good going on actually finding out why. Thanks for the compliments on the Guide - It is going to be awesome when fully complete. People have told me its already better than most of the other White Mage Guides out there and keep pushing me to finish it. I have little Free time as of late but I try to put as much as I can into it.

I do love the Image Stub template. When you put it right where the picture goes in the Item Template part it makes it so easy to know where to put it the picture when you get one and to just replace it. I thought it was a great idea. Plus I love the lil camera. :P

Shops

Sounds good, you may also notice I have a Shop Template that you may want to employ. --Chrisjander 10:17, 28 July 2006 (EDT)

Dynamis-Xarcabard

Just because you haven't seen a drop doesn't mean it isn't there. The Shard of Necropsyche does indeed drop from the Vanguard Dragons, and the Shadow Ring/Mantle drop from the Shadow Lord. --Valyana 17:18, 7 August 2006 (EDT)

Vana'diel Tribune

Heya, is it ok if I make some sort of index/TOC on the Category:Vana'diel Tribune page? (or do you have one in the works already?) --Ichthyos 21:59, 8 August 2006 (EDT)

Ahhh, so I didn't see the Vana'diel Tribune page. Maybe you should move the text of Vana'diel Tribune to Category:Vana'diel Tribune and then add a redirect? --Ichthyos 14:05, 13 August 2006 (EDT)

Template Talk Armor

Pinkfae - will you please look at Template talk:Armor and comment as soon as you get a chance. I would really love to know your opinion on this change. Thank you! --Nynaeve 11:20, 9 August 2006 (EDT)

Quest Request

The categories take care of this don't they? See Category:Bastok_Quests, Category:San d'Oria Quests. Maybe I am not understanding what you are requesting. --Gahoo 11:17, 10 August 2006 (EDT)

Mentor Userbox

Sorry about that - I totally forgot about that after I discovered it. Can you delete those userboxes for me since you are obviously know where they are better than me. Sorry... Totally spaced my mind... I think I did like 2-4 of them before I realized that it was doing something weird then I stopped... So taking those off would be great. Thanks. --Nynaeve 14:20, 10 August 2006 (EDT)

Game Script

This sounds like a huge undertaking, but it's a great idea. Out of curiosity, what's your source for this information? I'm glad to see we have someone working here on storyline and background information, which is sorely lacking at most sites. Keep up the good work, and let me know if I can help at all. --Enfield 09:50, 11 August 2006 (EDT)

Deleting images

If there are two images of the same thing, just put the {{Image-delete}} tag on the one that isn't being used, so that the admins can find it. Its hard to find a file if you don't know the exact name. --Chrisjander 12:42, 12 August 2006 (EDT)

If the images are identical, just delete the one that's not in use. Identical images usually mean that someone had trouble uploading the first one (corrupt file or whatnot) and uploaded a second version with a different name, and then inserted the proper one into an article. Since the old one is not used, and is probably the "bad" one, we'll just delete that one. --Chrisjander 14:50, 12 August 2006 (EDT)

FFXIclopedia:Deletion policy lists them. There is an image one for the same purpose as the category one. --Gahoo 11:36, 15 August 2006 (EDT)

See FFXIclopedia:Formatting & Organization Template Guide

Show/Hide

If we can get a version that isn't bugged, then there is a rational reason to use it. Good functionality is always good to use, but as you've said, if its bugged, its probably not worth using. --Chrisjander 11:34, 16 August 2006 (EDT)

I agree that there is no problem per se, but we can always use improvements. Hiding spoliers would be an improvement IMO, to the spoiler template. It would keep it on the same page, but force at least a small click (but no load time). --Gahoo 11:45, 16 August 2006 (EDT)

I agree, the biggest propenent to moving the spoilers didn't really have a good reason to move them, other than "people couldn't help themselves", but gahoo has a point, general improvement can be good, and I think I can find a couple of good uses for that code even if its not used for spoilers (which I actually think are sufficient, I was just brainstorming on the the talk page). --Chrisjander 11:55, 16 August 2006 (EDT)

I completely agree with you. The TOC hijack is not desireable to use at all. I just put it up there in case anyone wanted to see how it worked. I think that this whole show/hide thing is more trouble than it's worth, especially since only one person truly suggested it. I spent the whole morning on it and that's as far as I got. It's back to fixing stub articles for me. --Enfield 14:07, 16 August 2006 (EDT)

Cite

I went to install it today and I cannot get to the download site from where I am. Don't worry, I didn't forget! :) --Ganiman 12:25, 16 August 2006 (EDT)

Userboxes

Please put then in category:Userbox Templates rather than Category:Templates. Thanks. --Gahoo 12:29, 18 August 2006 (EDT) EDIT: I am in (slow) process of moving the older ones.

Vana'diel Tribune

The avatar pages have translated Tribune articles that I think can be incorporated into the VT page and the Avatar pages can have a link. --Gahoo 12:32, 25 August 2006 (EDT)

Chocobo

I intentionally deleted the Wikipedia link. --Mierin 11:00, 29 August 2006 (EDT)

RMT

I'm not quite sure what you mean about the Real Money Trade article. IMHO, that article doesn't belong, and should only be defined in the slang article. Please explain what you mean.. --Ganiman 21:07, 6 September 2006 (EDT)

Chick food deletion

I was looking for the chick food section I'd posted so that I could reference it, but saw that you'd deleted it because there was "no need to have this one in there twice". I'm sorry you feel that way, but I really would like to have a section devoted just to paste, since it's uncertain what it does and it is, specifically, food for chicks and deserves its own section. Regardless, if I add it you'll just delete it again, so do what you like, but be advised that some of us would like to have a quick reference for those foods separate from the grown-up chocobo feed... If you plan on deleting things people add in the future, please try to resolve the reason they were added in the first place rather than just selecting all and hitting "delete". --Chacharu 09:54, 11 September 2006 (EDT)

User Picture

FFXIclopedia editors are allowed to upload a single personal picture for use on their User Page. This picture must be no larger than 30 KB and the filename must be named after your User Page not your Character and look like User-UserName.JPG. For example if User:Nynaeve wanted to upload a picture for her User Page, the file name would have to appear as: User-Nynaeve.JPG or User-Nynaeve.jpg even though her character name is Birgitte. If you want to upload a new picture, make sure to upload it over the original filename. Once a picture is uploaded, the User will have 24 hours to incorporate that picture into their User Page. Any personal picture uploaded that does not follow this format, or is not in use on the User's User Page will be subject to immediate deletion.

Due to the new Change in the Image Policy, I had to delete your User Picture. Feel free to upload (1) that follows the above restrictions. Thank you for understanding. --Nynaeve 20:05, 2 November 2006 (EST)

Re: Image Policy

I know very well how to allow external images to be used in FFXIclopedia. You are completely missing the point. I suggest you read around as to why that is disabled. It was disabled long before any upgrades to Mediawiki were done. --Ganiman 01:01, 12 November 2006 (EST)

--Ganiman 11:19, 13 November 2006 (EST)
