Uploading pictures Edit

Some of the pictures you have recently downloaded seem to be doctored in some way. The font displayed in the item images is not the font the game normally has set. If you wish to upload more pictures, that is fine, but we ask that you reset your font settings (regardless of how it was accomplished) before taking the screen shots. We only want the pictures to reflect the actual pictures people see in the game, not those changed in some way. Thank you. --Chrisjander 17:13, 22 October 2006 (EDT)

Regarding my contributions Edit

The pictures have not been doctored in any way. The items are exactly the same as they are seen by everyone else who plays FFXI. The font and menu shade are the only things that are different on my end. Other than that, there has been no doctoring whatsoever. I could really see if the items had been coloured differently or information changed but neither of these factors have come into play. The font and menu shade that are used with my FFXI makes it easier for me to see and read the information since I have poor eyesight. Since that seems to be the issue here, I'll just stop uploading images and you can do them or someone else can upload them.

--Lady Asrar

He didn't mean to imply that you were changing the actual information on the picture, what he clearly stated was that the font was different and therefor inappropriate. I am sorry you have poor eyesight, but any image uploaded here needs to look like it would in game. So, as long as you have altered font options, I agree that you should not upload any more images. Thank you for understanding. --Nynaeve 21:18, 22 October 2006 (EDT)

I understand. I'll redo them. --Lady Asrar

Yes, exactly what I meant. "Doctored" was a poor word choice, as (now that I think on it) it slightly implies forgery. I apologize if I made it seem that way, it wasn't meant as an accusation, merely that the other font wasn't the original game font. I understand if you needed it changed for your own benefit, and I was just pointing out that it would need to be reverted back to the original for screenshots. Again, I apologize for any misunderstanding. --Chrisjander 00:21, 23 October 2006 (EDT)

No worries. ^_^. --Asrar 00:24, 23 October 2006 (EDT)

Replacing Pictures Edit

Yay! Sorry, I like it when we get rid of a pic that has the alla tag on it ^^

When you replace a picture with the {{Picture Replace}} tag on it, you can just remove the tag, which removes it from the list of files to be replaced. --Chrisjander 12:29, 23 October 2006 (EDT)

I saw a couple of them with Alla on it the other day. Do you want me just to replace them as I find them? Also, I've seen some that have a different border that is not originally in the game, namely the ones that User:Devious has been putting up within the last day. Should those be replaced?

--Lady Asrar 12:38, 23 October 2006 (EDT)

The stuff Devious uploaded looks fine to me, I'll have to look into it a little further thou. We actually have an entire category dedicated to pictures that need replacing. Not all of them are in the category, but if you want to take on something, you could check out Category:Replacements for all the files that are marked for replacement.

Also, if you want to reply directly to me (and I'll get the "New Message" prompt), just go to my user talk page and post under a new subject (edit+) --User talk:Chrisjander 13:12, 23 October 2006 (EDT)

Also, you probably already know about Category:Image Stub, but just in case, there's the link. --Chrisjander 13:16, 23 October 2006 (EDT)

Image Talk Edit

There is no need to create talk on the Image Talk Pages just to tell us you uploaded a new picture or the reason why. When uploading a file, the summary section should be where you type, not creating new pages, just to say that. There is no reason to take up more Bandwidth. Thank you for understanding. --Nynaeve 13:54, 24 October 2006 (EDT)

No problem. Thank you for explaining. --Lady Asrar 19:01, 24 October 2006 (EDT)

To elaborate: Image talk pages are usually reserved for discussion on the suitability of a picture and whether it should be replaced, or AfD discussions. --Chrisjander 20:28, 24 October 2006 (EDT)

BTW, I like you. We explain you listen, change what you were doing and don't bitch. So, Thank you for contributing. Any help is great help. ^^ --Nynaeve 20:46, 24 October 2006 (EDT)

Formatting Edit

Please make sure any pages that you edit are completely formatted before removing the {{Format-stub}} from it. The founders and administrators of FFXIclopedia and Eorzeapedia, together with the podcast gurus over at Pet Food Alpha, Limit Break Radio and the Aetheryte Radio Network - are excited to announce their newest project - Gamerescape.com. Gamer Escape draws upon, and expands on, our collective experiences. We're combining the wiki platforms where you can get your information, podcasting platforms where you can listen to your favorite podcasting personalities, wordpress/news platform so you can quickly see what is going on with your favorite game, and of course, forums to allow you to discuss everything game related with the community.

What does that mean for FFXIclopedia?

We've copied the FFXIclopedia wiki content over to Gamerescape in order to seed and expand upon the wiki over there. FFXIclopedia will, of course, remain at Wikia and remain open and available for editing. To be clear, while there have been a few rather public departures from Wikia in the past few months, they are not a factor in our decision. The reality is that Wikia provides a great service for wikis and was a fine home for the past few years. They allow anyone with one click to try their hand at starting a wiki and a community. That is invaluable and, looking at Wikia's growth, has served them well. In light of some the recent public departures, we feel it was important to make this clear.

We are making this announcement because (i) we are truly excited about what we're launching; and (ii) you, the community, should know that the founders and some of the current admins and moderators will not be here, but will be developing the FFXI wiki/forums over at gamerescape.

What else is over at Gamerescape?

In addition to the content from the FFXIclopedia wiki, we have integrated Eorzeapedia - so all of your FFXI and FFXIV information is on the same site, just a click or two away. Also, in addition to FFXI and FFXIV, we've launched WakfuEscape, a platform dedicated to the upcoming Wakfu MMO (distributed by Square Enix). Complete with news platforms, forums and podcasts - we're continuing in our efforts to provide a site where you can get all of your gaming information without having to jump from site to site.

We've learned a lot since 2004 when we started FFXIclopedia, a lot of which is reflected in our new FFXIV and Wakfu wikis. We remain nothing more than a group of gamers at heart who enjoy playing games and helping the community develop a resource for those games. We're looking forward to continuing that effort over at GamerEscape.com. We hope to see all of you there.

PS. For those that have an Eorzeapedia.com account - your log-in credentials should work at any GamerEscape.com site.
