Notes:
- Lottery Spawn from a Typhoon Wyvern around E-9 or G-6 on the second map. Typhoon Wyverns spawn at both locations. The correct placeholder can spawn in both locations and can shift to either side every 16 min after killed. The correct placeholder always spawns in the back area of E-9, or at the front of G-6.
- Ungur will only spawn at (E-9).
- Ungur has a minimum respawn time of 4 hours. After that time passes, Ungur has roughly a 15% chance to spawn in place of its placeholder. It has pop conditions similar to that of Charybdis.
- Killable by:
- Duoable by a 75NIN or 75THF tank with a mage job.
- Soloable by very skilled RDM75/NIN37 (Pull it to Bune pop area and kill by DoT kiting.), or BST75/NIN37.
- Duo with NIN75/DNC37 & BRD75/WHM37. BRD elegy and requiem, keep mambo x2 on NIN, finale when needed and as well as curing nin if needed. Fight took 30 min.
- Duo'd by Nin75/Dnc37 and Rdm73 with some difficulty.
- Party of 6 level 75 jobs, with tank and proper mages.
- Soloable by a skilled NIN/DNC.
- Drops 12,000 Gil.
- Mind blast seems to be effective BLU spell on Ungur (Mind blast is from Demon type monsters; Dragons are weak to Demons and vice versa) but may gain an accumulative resistance.
- It is EXTREMELY important not to give Ungur too much TP. He is very hard to blink tank due to his high attack speed and TP moves that rip shadows off. That's why the only one melee'ing Ungur should be the tank (NIN or THF).
Nyzul Isle
- The Armoury Crate it leaves behind contains a ??? Bow, which may rarely appraise into a Ungur Boomerang.
Historical Background
In Australian Aboriginal mythology, specifically that of the Kimberly region of Australia, Ungur was a wondjiina (primal beings of the Altjira, or The Dreamtime) known more commonly as the Rainbow Snake or Rainbow Serpent. The Rainbow Serpent was one of the most important figures in Aboriginal mythology. It resided in the permanent waterholes of the Outback and was considered to be the source of replenishment for the water. The gullies and channels across the desert were believed to be made by him as it slithered across the desert plains, allowing for water to flow from place to place. It is considered both benevolent and malevolent, protecting the people from other Aboriginal tribes as well as punishing anyone who violated the sacred laws. It's legend bears some notably similarities to the Ouroboros.
Ungur is also sometimes referred to as Galeru, which was the name of an elephant-like enemy in FFV.
