Northland Exposure Betrayal at Beaucedine

Walkthrough

  • At Beaucedine Glacier (S), visit the 5 northernmost Pso'Xja towers listed below, and examine the Regal Pawprints found there.
    • The order does not matter, so it is a good idea to plan accordingly depending where you enter from, be it Xarcabard (S), Batallia Downs (S) or the Campaign Arbiter warp.
    • It is possible to target the Regal Pawprints from just inside all of the tower's entrances, except the (F-7) one, which can be targeted from a little deeper inside the tower, and thus avoid being attacked by any monsters nearby.
    • There are various other Regal Pawprints in the area that are not involved in this mission.
  • You must play a different kind of mini-game at each tower, in which your objective is to plant the Shadow bug on Cait Sith in various ways.
    • If you fail after all 3 tries, move on to the next tower and simply mark which one you lost. You must change area to retry, and you will only need to redo the games you lost in.
    • For the games where you need to approach a Cait Sith with their back turned, wait until they turn at a 45-degree angle (still facing away from you). They seem to always go from this position back to facing the doorway, giving you slightly more time to move closer.
      • Advancing only when they are at a 45-degree angle will guarantee success.
  • Cait Sith Coig is at (J-8).
    • You must shoot Cait Sith Coig when she remains visible for a long enough time.
    • Coig only stays still for 1 to 3 seconds, in a pattern of: short - mid - long - short - mid - long (starting still duration is random). Movements appear to be random.
    • The best time to shoot is when she's moving left to right, while walking. When she moves right to left, or if she is facing you, she will see you shoot and will run away. Please note that the pattern advances only if she stops. If she runs past without stopping, the pattern remains in the previous state.
    • It is possible to be attacked by the Ruszors and/or the Amphiptere here.
  • Cait Sith Seachd is at (I-7).
    • You must tell Lilisette when Cait Sith Seachd turns back so she can move undetected.
    • The Cait Sith will only catch you if you are actually moving forward when it turns around to face you. You can be one step away from it, and as long as you are not taking a step forward when it turns around, you will not be caught.
    • It is recommended to exercise extreme patience during this game, and only move forward when the Cait Sith is facing at a 45-degree angle away from you in order to avoid failure.
    • When Lilisette puts her hands on her hips at the end of a move, she will descend two steps the next time you tell her to move.
    • It is possible to be attacked by the Icefang Tigers nearby here.
  • Cait Sith Aon is at (H-8).
    • Like the previous game, but this time it is your turn to sneak to the Cait Sith Aon.
    • It is recommended you exercise extreme patience during this game, and only move forward when the Cait Sith is facing at a 45-degree angle away from you in order to avoid failure.
  • Cait Sith Ceithir is at (G-9).
    • Like the previous game, however it is Portia's turn to sneak up to the Cait Sith Ceithir.
    • It is recommended you exercise extreme patience during this game, and only move forward when the Cait Sith is facing at a 45-degree angle away from you in order to avoid failure.
    • Cait Sith Ceithir will often face forward immediately after turning around. Be patient and wait a moment to be sure she isn't going to turn, then take one step. More than one is risky, especially with Portia's potential delay.
    • When Portia starts looking around anxiously, there will be a small delay between you telling her to go and her moving.
    • It is possible to be attacked by the Fulminator and the Gigas' here.
  • Cait Sith Tri is at (F-7).
    • You will turn into a chocobo hatchling and must chirp to get her attention and then chirp or turn your back to get her to move closer.
    • There is no real pattern for this, though it seems to work well to chirp when the Cait Sith is looking away from you, and turn away when she is facing you.
    • You can stun as soon as Cait Sith is close enough, which is when the stun option will actually appear. Failing to stun will mean failure of the game.
    • It is possible to be attacked by the Cyhiraeths here, which detect by hearing and low HP. The area before the tower has Glacial Imps which detect by true-sight, as well as a moderate amount of the Cyhiraeths.
  • After successfully completing all the 5 games, go to the 6th tower at (H-10) and examine the regal pawprints near the curved down tree little to the north from the tower for a cutscene. Take care at the top of the (H-9)/(I-9) ramp, which is one of the areas the Amphiptere fly by.
    • A hole at (H-10), south of the ramp, can be used to avoid some of the walking.
    • After completing this mission, you can play the mini-games again by replaying the cutscenes at the Goblin Footprint at (H-11).

Game Description

Mission Orders
Cait Sith Naoi is convinced a traitor walks among her kin. Unmasking the turncoat requires that you attach a "shadow bug" to each of the Cait Siths scattered throughout the Beaucedine Glacier.
