Dialogue[]

Scene One: Bastok Mines[]

Gumbah : Ugh. Leave it to Cornelia to bring up the tiniest little matter to those stuffy higher-ups.
Gumbah : Hume...Galka...we've all got different perspectives on things. She of all people should know that.
Gumbah : Oops. I think I started in the middle of the story. Let's see...
Gumbah : Here's what happened. Cornelia thinks that Galka and Hume should engage in the same type of formal education.
Gumbah : She believes the best way to build bridges between our respective groups is to treat everyone equally from childhood.
Gumbah : It's a lofty goal, I'll admit, but though Galka have never been the type to go to schools as Humes do, we can still do all the things everyone else can. The "three Rs" if you will.
Gumbah : When our long journey of rebirth ends, we learn everything we need to know from our elders.
Gumbah : And perhaps the biggest part of that is learning what it means to be a Galka.
??? : Gumbah, I don't mean to say that there aren't things that young Galka can best learn from their own.
Gumbah : Cornelia. I assume you were listening in?
Cornelia : Just from the end. But in the same way, Galka can learn a lot from Humes, as well.
Cornelia : And schools are more than just places for our children to read from dusty old manuscripts and memorize their times tables.
Cornelia : They're places where children can interact with others--both their instructors and fellow students--and create the type of special bond that can only come from shared experiences.
Gumbah : Bonds, huh? You sure that it's not just a place for people to impress their beliefs on others?
Cornelia : No, that's not what I'm saying at all.
Gumbah : It sounds to me like Humes trying to impose their will on the Galka.
Cornelia : Gumbah, I'm not trying to do anything of the kind!
Gumbah : ...Sorry, Cornelia. I shouldn't have snapped at you. I've been having some terrible dreams lately, and my lack of good sleep might have caught up with me.
Gumbah : And besides, after everything that adventurers have done for our fair city, I wouldn't want to involve one in some petty squabbles. And surely you didn't come here to trade barbs, either.
Cornelia : Of course not. In fact...
Cornelia : I came with a request of sorts. One of the workers in the Zeruhn Mines came to me with the strangest sighting--a Galkan child wandering aimlessly about the place.
Cornelia : I can't help but think that the poor thing might have just been reborn and doesn't know where to go or what to do.
Gumbah : Of all the--the Zeruhn mines? We've got to go get some help from the adults!
Cornelia : I'm really worried. Maybe I'll trek on ahead.
Gumbah : Cornelia!
Darn it, I don't think she heard me. I know her heart's in the right place, but those mines are dangerous!
Gumbah : I think we'd better split up. You go after Cornelia while I get some help.
Gumbah : The mines aren't exactly the best place for someone to wander around unprotected.
Gumbah : I'll head over as soon as I can. If what Cornelia heard is true, there's a chance you'll run into this Galka before her--so if you do, make sure he's safe, okay?

Gumbah : Hey, Mr. Adventurer, would you mind going after Cornelia?
Gumbah : She's probably gone to the Zeruhn mines all on her lonesome.
Gumbah : I'll head over as soon as I can. If what she heard is true, there's a chance you'll run into the newly reborn Galka before Cornelia--so if you do, make sure he's safe, okay?

Scene Two: Zeruhn Mines[]

Cornelia : Ah, look who it is.
Cornelia : You must be concerned about the Galkan child too.
Cornelia : Of course. I should have known Gumbah would worry about me.
Cornelia : Between him and the foremen, everyone I've talked to today is concerned for my well-being. They won't even let me further into the mines.
Cornelia : It doesn't make any sense. If they're that insistent on looking after me, then why wouldn't they be twice as interested in the young one wandering around unaccompanied?
Cornelia : When I pointed that out, Rasmus said, "Oh, right. We did see him deeper in..."
Cornelia : I know! They might not let me proceed, but surely they'd have no such qualms about you!
Cornelia : Maybe some of the other foremen would know more. Could you ask them about the Galkan child and go looking for him?
Cornelia : I'll go meet up with Gumbah. Best of luck!

Scene Three: Deeper into Zeruhn Mines (optional)[]

Makarim : Hey there, adventurer. What can I do for you?
You want to know if we saw a Galkan child?
Makarim : Then my eyes weren't playing tricks on me. I saw him squatting down on the ground a little bit east of here.
Makarim : Do you know who he is? You should go tell him that this is no place for children.

Scene Four: Even Deeper into Zeruhn Mines[]

Someone appears to have fallen down here.
??? : Who are...?
Gloom Phantom : Urk...!
Gloom Phantom : Get away from him!
Gloom Phantom : Graaah!
Gloom Phantom : Hm...?
Gloom Phantom : You're with them, is it!?
Gloom Phantom : Then I'll have to slice you to ribbons!

Battle against the Gloom Phantom.

Gloom Phantom : Wah wah wah...
That didn't go quite as planned...
Gloom Phantom : Next time I'll bring all my buddies, so you won't get this lucky twice!
Gloom Phantom : See you later, suckers!
??? : Thank you...I don't know what was going to happen to me.
Gumbah : Look! There he is!
Cornelia : Are you all right!?
Gumbah : Thanks for everything, Mr. Adventurer.
Gumbah : He's shivering... What happened?
Gumbah : A Goblin clad in black attacked him!?
Makarim : I think you'd better report this incident to the authorities.
Gumbah : From what you've described, the Goblin went out of his way to target the poor thing.
Cornelia : I know you've been through a lot, but can you think of a reason why?
??? : N-no...
Gumbah : It's okay. You were really brave.
Gumbah : Why don't you come with us? We'll bring you somewhere that no one can hurt you.
??? : Raebrimm...
Gumbah : Hmm?
Raebrimm : My name's Raebrimm.
Gumbah : Nice to meet you, Raebrimm! I'm Gumbah.
Cornelia : Cornelia. Let us know if you ever need anything, okay?
Gumbah : Thanks for taking care of things, friend. Raebrimm--and I guess the two of us--owe you a debt of gratitude.
Gumbah : Come visit me later and let us give you a proper thanks.
