I still don't agree with the pictures, they seem unnecessary due to the fact that a key item is just simply text. The description fits that purpose perfectly. If there was some sort of image or icon to associate itself with the key item I could see a reason, but otherwise I disagree. --User:Charitwo/Sig 11:35, 6 June 2007 (CDT)

We have discussed this. There is no real downside and at the very least it can help avoid misspellings and/or fraudulent items. If we don't have them so be it. Afterall, the images are all duplicative of the text in the wiki. Pictures also generally make pages look nicer. We could change the {{image-stub}} to something else if we want so that missing key item images are not listed with the rest of the missing images if there is a demand for it. --GAHOO t/ c 11:39, 6 June 2007 (CDT)
I changed the location of the stubs. I think it will be helpful to keep them separate. --GAHOO t/ c 11:48, 6 June 2007 (CDT)
So we officially want images? I'll make shots of those my character has later when I'll check their sub-categories. --Elvaron 16:12, 6 June 2007 (CDT)

If you make sure people include the "Key Item" line just above the box, you will also get the line that states what category that key item is under. I think we should specify that pictures should include that line, since verification is the major purpose of the picture. --Chrisjander t/ c 03:42, 7 June 2007 (CDT)

Example: Tuning fork of earth --Chrisjander t/ c 03:44, 7 June 2007 (CDT)

I remember wondering which way I should take these, years ago, I wish I had stumbled upon this back then. I used to think it would be better to show the Key Item/Temp Key Item portion as well but it doesn't look as "clean" and more often it has been left out by others as well.
So I'm thinking about it now, which would be the preferred method today? I might still have full-screen shots of a lot of temporary items which I don't anymore possess, so I could probably replace some of them some time WITH the category shown, when I'm really bored or so. Would also be good to know for future reference. ^^
Another thing comes to mind, is the title. I'm assuming they should be intered like most of the items are as well, meaning not following the capitalization that is in-game.
Here's an example: Mineral gauge for dummies.

Many pages that use this template have more then 1 sub-category and the way this template is written only the last one is included in the category for the page, this means that if the item is temp key that category does not appear on the page. any one know how to fix this? --Icari 12:35, July 22, 2010 (UTC)

Recent Changes

I made modifications to the template per a request, as well as some confusion and misuse of the old version that I was seeing.

  • New Parameters
    • drops-from, location, effects
These are to keep the information unform. For example, many times the "zones" parameter was being used when it is only meant for maps.
    • is-temp, is-perm, is-claim, is-map, is-abyssite, is-atma
These ensure that the appropriate categories are added.
They also cause certain information to be generated, as well as make other parameters required (they show {{Information Needed}} when left empty).
    • sub-category2, sub-category3, sub-category4
Added in case the above flag parameters do not take care of all needed categories.
  • Output Changes
    • The template now uses DIV elements for layout instead of a table. The DIVs are generated using {{Infobox Key Item/Wrapper}}.
They have classes assigned to them in anticipation of moving the inline styles to a stylesheet:
      • iBoxImage = Wraps the image.
      • iBoxName = Wraps the name of the item.
      • iBoxRow = Wraps a label and info DIV pair.
      • iBoxLabel = Wraps a field label.
      • iBoxInfo = Wraps the field content.
    • Some content is automatically generated when certain flag parameters are set:
      • is-atmadescription
      • is-atma + dropped-fromobtained
      • is-claimobtained
    • Some content becomes required based on parameter values:
      • drops-fromlocation
      • is-claimarmor set
      • is-mapzones
      • is-atmaobtained and effects

I welcome any feedback on these modifications. --₪ ABBYDON ₪ t/ c 19:01, January 20, 2011 (UTC)
