AFK Skill-up Strategy[]

Assuming you have this trust, it can be used in conjunction with Cherukiki and, optionally, Kuyin Hathdenna to level up your combat skills. At level 99, Equip a low-damage weapon, the Combat Skill oriented Temachtiani pieces, and the Outrider, Espial, or Wayfarer pieces relevant to your job. Go to the section of Fei'Yin with the Balayangs. Summon the Trusts in order: Kuyin, Cherukiki, Moogle. Target and engage a distant Balayang. Run towards it and engage Auto-run. On your first hit, Cherukiki will use Protectra, Shellra, Haste, Slow, and Paralyze. Cherukiki will cast Regen when you get down to about 75-80% HP, and recast these abilities as needed. The Moogle will follow Cherukiki, granting her an effectively infinite MP pool wherever she is. Kuyin should follow you, granting you Indi-Precision (a slight accuracy boost). When Cherukiki regains enmity, the Balayang will fly to her, and you will follow the Balayang. When you regain enmity, Cherukiki will run away, and the Moogle will follow.

Different loadouts are recommended for different situations in this strategy. If you're leveling parry, evasion, or shield, get a weapon you can equip, ideally one you have no innate skill with (event weapons and trainee weapons work best, but signet staves can function in a pinch), and fight using that. The battle could take hours - plenty of chances for the Balayang to try and hit you. Guarding on MNK or PUP could be a bit more difficult because of how H2H damage is calculated.

As far as leveling weapons is concerned - that can be difficult for H2H because of how H2H damage is calculated, but all others can be done using a similar strategy - you want something with low damage and low delay. Bronze, Trainee, and Event weapons can be good for this - except there's nothing like this for Greatsword. I can recommend the Chaosbringer, Dull Claymore, or Rusty Greatsword, but the Claymore works in a pinch - its damage output is higher than optimal, but still low enough that you can walk away for a good hour and probably still be fighting when you get back.

If you need to know what this is capable of doing, I am currently leveling Shield as WAR (suboptimal, I know, but I don't have PLD to 99, nor do I intend to get it there... yet), using a combination of Temachtiani and Outrider gear, Trainee Burin, and Eminent Shield. I'm averaging probably 5.5 hours per fight, and 7-10 shield skill levels per fight. My Parry and Evasion are also maxed. It's slow, but unlike the skill books, it doesn't cost sparks. I'm doing this when I'm away for any extended period. I'm effectively unkillable thanks to Cherukiki and the Moogle.

The Bronze Weapons (I used Bronze Axe) can make the battle last between 90 minutes and 2 hours. Plenty long enough to get started, have a cigar, come back, and still be fighting - speaking from experience. Simply put, if you don't want to expend sparks on skill books, this is probably the best method to get skill ups, especially since it allows you to set it up, then go about your business. -- Pandora Xero Is Not A Bot (talk) 21:08, 24 April 2021 (UTC)
