Galka 90SMN Solo

I collected all 16 Hexes and used Garuda. Started with /assault on Shantotto. When assault was up again, I used it and Predator Claws on D.Shantotto. I had to resummon Garuda 4 times. Each time was a rinse and repeat of my initial engagement. You will eat spells at each resummoning while Garuda establishes hate; so, keep your HP at least above 75%. I ran in range only to Predator Claws D.Shantotto and Whispering Wind. D.Shantotto was dead after 7 Blood Pacts. Not difficult at all.

We went in with 2 hours up.. had Bst grab the blm and kite it with their pet.. While mnks got whm and put up Hundred Fists and smn put up Alexander with perfect defense.. whm went down fast and then mnks and everyone focused on blm which took fast... total fight time was 3 mins and 10 seconds..

4 SMN/WHM, RDM/NIN, WHM/SCH

Just won this fight last night (April 14/2010) after doing 6 failed melee burns (I don’t suggest doing melee burns unless you have uber heavy dds and fight flawlessly because melee burns require perfection after the March update); it’s a really easy fight as SMN burn. We basically followed the 4 SMN strategy posted in this page, had two SMNS go in and attack D Shantotto with Garudas with RDM kiter (me) attacking Shantotto WHM. TIMING OF THE SMN ROTATION is everything for this strategy.4 SMNS have to maintain the rotation to keep minimum 2 Garudas up attacking at all times. Rotation is 2 SMNS use 2 Garudas to attack with BP Predator Claws asap then next 2 SMNS use 2 Garudas to attack with BP Predator Claws when first 2 Garudas are at 50% HP. WHM just main heals and RDM just kites and keep hate of Shantotto WHM as much as possible. DO NOT USE AVATARS FAVOR or ASTRAL FLOW, ITS NOT NEEDED.

Items needed: Ethers/Elixirs of MP, minimum 8 Remedies for each party member for paralyze/disease, Tavnazian Taco for RDM kiter (not really needed but nice to have for DEF), minimum 12 echo drops for each party member & minimum 4 yagudo drinks for each party member except RDM.

Here’s how we did it: 2 Garudas attack D Shantotto and use Blood Pact: Predator Claws right away while I keep Shantotto busy as the RDM kiter. Keeping hate from Shantotto (WHM) is not hard; RDM just casts BIO 3, Poison 2 and lots of Cure IV to keep the hate. Only time RDM will loose the hate is when Shantotto WHM starts assisting D Shantotto for Skillchain, but you can gain the hate again by casting Cure IVs on yourself or party members. RDM has to keep phalanx or phalanx 2 up (if unlocked), Utsusemi Ni/Ichi, Stoneskin & Haste at all times & must have Fast Cast gears/merits to prevent the spell interruptions. The only time RDM will take hit is when 2 Shantottos use AOE SC attacks because RDM stays close to them in the circle room, while others are in the tunnel near the door entrance; otherwise any Shantotto WHM solo spells/attacks shouldn’t do any damage the RDM at all as long as the buffs are up. SMNS pretty much just attacks D Shantotto using the SMN Rotation I mentioned until D Shantotto is dead, WHM might have to use Benediction while fighting D Shantotto (our WHM did). As long as the Garudas are out attacking D Shantotto, everyone shouldn’t take that much damage. Make sure that everyone is far away from the AOE range except the RDM. If the Rotation does not fail, there should be no wipe, only RDM and WHM/SCH will die. SMNS should keep going and attack Shantotto WHM & maintain the SMN Rotation. If your group is gonna do a full wipe, do it near the door entrance inside the tunnel so you can RR safely. RDM and WHM should die far away from the AOE range so you can heal to full HP. Use any MP items as you need them during the fight. I highly suggest to macro Echo drops & Remedies as you will be spamming these items when you get hit with AOE. Try to remove disease and paralyze asap to avoid the MP drain from disease. I noticed my MP dropped to zero when I didn’t removed my disease status. Important note for the RDM: Cast dispel on Shantotto WHM along with Bio 3 and Poison 2 when SMNS are attacking the Shantotto WHM after D Shantotto dies. This is crucial for the RDM to do especially when Shantotto WHM is at 1% HP as she will stay at 1% for a bit and not take any hits (kinda like a short Paladin Invincible).

That’s it pretty much, I hope this guide is helpful for those doing this battle after the March update, I have a feeling SE made it harder for melee burns. Also Thanks to Atilathehun (SMN), Zia (SMN), Barrek (SMN), Akeira (SMN) & Tsumiko (WHM) for joining me on this win, now I have to do this battle 2 more times to get my other friends a win – Minna of Asura

4 Summoner, Bard, White Mage

  • Just won with this same strategy. So easy it wasnt' even funny. We had a bard kiting the WHM instead of a Cor. And bring D Shantotto far enough down the hall that the kiter won't get hit from aoe's. Just one thing, you have to get back alot farther then you would think. Their AOE's are HUGE (the range on them). The silence and paralyze comes FROM the AOE, so if you get hit, use an echo. Also, after talking with one of the smns that already did it, the hexs only give you stat boosts probably, with or without them you will still get the hp/mp boosts. Not too sure on that though, as I had all 16. By the way.... i had 3898 mp as Smn :O lol Won in 20 minutes, including the wipe after blm was dead and resting to full after weakened.--DragonIrons 15:52, November 12, 2009 (UTC)

3 Smn/Whm, Blu/Nin, Whm/Blm, Rdm/Nin

We started with the SMNs going in to aggro Light Shantotto while the RDM casted Gravity(Resist, but meh). The SMNs did three Blood Pacts to Shantotto and then pulled her to the door and killed her there. The RDM kept D. Shantotto in the room. We wiped when the Light Shantotto at 6%, then the BLU/NIN and one of the SMNs got up as well as the RDM. The BLU casted Cannonball to try to kill it, but failed. The RDM got utsusemi: Ni, and then started casting dispel on D. shantotto to kite her around some more. The SMN that got up did the last Predator Claws on Shantotto for the kill. At that point, the other SMNs got up, and started to keep hate on D. Shantotto using Garuda. The RDM started a Chainspell Cure IV on everyone up until the last 10 seconds and then Cure IV'd himself and converted. After that, we kept it up. We almost wiped near the end, until the BLU who was dead got up, and did a disseverment for the win. Fun battle! Jagtarro 04:56, November 14, 2009 (UTC)

== 4 Smn/Whm, Rdm, 65 Whm/Blm Toss Garuda at D. Shantotto until its dead. A few Curaga3's and a bunch of Cure V's was all that was needed to keep everyone healthy. Bring alot of echo drops, and its easy. We did not wipe, and had been sore from losing several times prior to this before switching to manaburn. By comparison, it is extremely easy, and almost no luck involved this way. Don't use 2hours, or Avatar Favor.

Whm/Nin, Whm/Blm, Drk/Blm, Drg/Nin, Sam/Nin, Brd/Whm

Tried fight, didnt win. There are 2 Shantotto's: D. Shantotto and Shantotto. D. Shan is a BLM, casts einter range of Tier 3/4 spells and Tier 3 -ga's, as well as AM I/II Spells.. Dispelga

Shan is a WHM, Cast Holy on me. Looking at chat log, did not Heal D. Shan.

At one point we were silenced paralyzed diseased and two other effects, hard to bounce back from that... At a certain % (I think after 30% gone) of either's health, they start to assist each other. They can WS off each other creating a Light/Dark Skilchain... Splitting them doesn't help a tank, the other will move, no matter the hate.. If you die in the circle, it is Party hate and will wipe you all again.. If you're gonna wipe, do so near the door. Note: If you get the ReRaise Hex.. It will give you 1 (ONE) un-weakened ReRaise Oh, forgot: If you fail, you need to repeat the entire hex gathering process again.Meternx01 05:16, November 11, 2009 (UTC)

Brd/Whm, Whm/Sch, Whm/Nin, Drg/Nin, Mnk/Nin, Sam/Nin

Just Won This: BRD/WHM (me), WHM/SCH, WHM/NIN, DRG/NIN, MNK/NIN, SAM/NIN

Fairly simple fight, 7:34 all in all, got record.

Ran in, I opened with a Soul Voice Double Minuet, then the WHM/NIN Diaed the WHM and pulled her to the start of the BCNM, where the DD focused on the BLM (D. Shantotto)

They took her down, at 60% we planned to zerg her, because she gets nasty mean with the WHM when she gets lower in health, and she gets very strong.

So the DRG Spirit Surged Jumped to screw her DEF, and the SAM and MNK did their thing, she fell pretty soon after that, just a general zerg, then they changed their target to the WHM.

They worked down the WHM at around 60% she goes a bit nuts too, and uses her AoE move that can cause a short Stun, Plague and Silence (not at the same time)

The WHMs kept up constant healing as her Agas come fast, so your WHMs gotta be on the ball.

Overall, it was fairly easy, didn't take much planning, and the CS after the fight, is godlike :D

WHM/NIN SCH/RDM SCH/RDM SAM/NIN SAM/NIN DRK/SAM

Won an hour ago 2nd attempt.

Full buffed at start, I aggroed and attempted to kite WHM Shantotto away (though with basically just light spells, she resisted, so I attempted to get hate by curing others). Everyone else focused on D.Shantotto. After dying early last time, we decided to wait til about 50% to zerg her down and use 2 hrs. SCHs kept melee cured, though Light Shantotto would often run back and assist her sis. Started spamming their Aoe DMg and at one point Chainspelled tier 1 nukes for 800 dmg on the DRK. Got a bit hectic. We were able to kill D.Shantotto before wiping to Light Shantotto with 25% (though they regen after returning to place). Like always, it's important to wipe far back so as to not aggro her getting up. Full healed with about 17 minutes left, though healing back all that hp and mp took about 5 mins. Took it a bit more casually now that we only had to deal with one, SCHs and I spammed Curaga II which easily kept up with her nukes. It was over in no time. Looking back, I'm sure 2 competent healers could handle it. Divine Malice Stuns, Viruses, Slows, and Silences. Make sure people have echoes. Overall fun fight, a bit easier than the others.

And yes, what you've heard about the last CS is true. Very epic. --Thundermelon 01:48, November 12, 2009 (UTC)

War/Nin, Whm/Sch, Whm/Blm, Drg/Nin, Sam/Nin, Nin/War

Entered, buffed, ate food and had all 16 tablets.

NIN pulled Shantotto off to next to entrance and managed to keep busy while we zerged down D.Shantotto. Used 2hrs and I.wings at 40% and took her down nicely with no deaths.

Got Shantotto to 33% (!) before mages had run out of mp and we wiped slowly trying to keep back from circle, unfortunately the SAM was knocked into circle and we had to leave them there.

Rested up to completely full while the SAM stewed in the circle. WHM raised and we got on with the task of taking Shantotto down. DRG hadn't 2hred and so did so at the start for some debuffs and we went to town with WHMs spamming Curaga IV as needed.

Time was 24 minutes, 49 seconds. No records broken, but a win is a win. :)

Can someone please clarify as to whether or not buffs wear upon entry to the BC? Edricofifrit 03:21, November 12, 2009 (UTC)

All buffs wear upon entry. Also it seemed like she raged at 75%, then again at 50%, and again at 25%. My only thought to why people thought she only raged once was due to her rage timer still being on when hitting those points, skipping a new rage completely. --Eiryn 06:59, November 12, 2009 (UTC)

SAM/WAR, DRG/BLU, WAR/SAM, WHM/SCH, WHM/SCH, BLU/NIN

Alright after attempting this fight a few times (went 1/4) gathered many a thing about the fight.

First off, despite what many other people who have beaten this are saying, killing the black shantotto first isn't the way to go. In fact, killing the white shantotto first is a smarter move. Why? Read on.

1) The White Shantotto is significantly weaker (in terms of defense) than the black Shantotto. 2) It doesn't matter which you go after first because in the end one of them is going to rage (2hour) during the time they are teaming up on someone. So a wipe is likely to occur when this is happening. Like SE obviously hinted at with the non-weakness FIRST death (uber reraise) your supposed to die once (even if people have won w/o wiping).

Once one of the Shantotto's rages (2hours) and it wears off, they can't do it again. This is where the wipe comes in. Keep in mind, they ALSO don't team up again at the same HP% as the first time, I say this because we wiped AFTER white shantotto's rage wore off. They both returned to center and regened to full (turns out this ISN'T a problem). When we got white shantotto back down to 50% then 25% the black shantotto didn't come back and start skillchaining with her. Guess how easy it was? It was an absolute joke after one of them rages and you wipe (the first time) then heal up.

So the basic strategy is to force the white shantotto to rage, survive until she comes out of it. Wipe. Get up, have one WHM use Benediction. Go slaughter White Shantotto then Black Shantotto.

Sam is NOT the best DD for this (though it's close) BLU does some crazy damage to them with it's spells.

The BLU can ALSO hold the black shantotto for the first 50% VERY easily. After the black shantotto teams up with the white for their ws rape, the BLU can join in fighting the White Shantotto since it's just a waste to even try to get the Black Shantotto off of anyone (during that period). So that's 4 DDs and 2 WHMs. Feel free to swap a DD for a Support class or whatever you need/don't have a useful job for.

Notes about our fight: We MASSIVELY screwed up THREE times and still won. Screw up #1: Sam died right after using 2hour (wasted) Screw up #2: WHM 2hred while 2ppl were down Screw up #3: The 2 that were down got up during the rage part (thought we were going to lose because of screw up #2).

Omgsamurais note: SAMURAI IS NOT REQUIRED FOR THE FIGHT (Though, it does provide some nice ws spam dmg with non-bandwagon gear) I say this and I was the samurai.

Subbing Ninja notes: Don't bother unless your the kite. The only reason the blue mage was subbing NIN was because they were holding the black shantotto. /NIN is USELESS during the RAGE period. Upping your DD potential = smarter, go sub /war or /sam.

More rage notes: Once it was just the Black Shantotto alone, her rage is nothing without the ws spam caused by the team up (cant team up if one of is dead).

4Smn, Brd, Whm

Just did this SMN x4 BRD WHM easy win. I would highly recommend this it was a super easy fight but good fun. BTW SMN had 2.4K MP one had 3.8K with all Hex. Seems like you might not need to have all 16 your self our party got the use of the 1 free RR that restores HP etc and 3 where not on mission and did not have expansion. other 3 had 16/16. I might look into this futher.

Same as above SMN strat use Pred Claws one BLM version and BRD/NIN kite WHM version (shadows took all damage did not get hit once). Lost hate some times for there Skill Chain but worked well. When we got BLM to 20% we went to the door and killed the BLM there when wiped, waited for the WHM to move back to the spawn point and raised and rested for the 5 mins.

After full mp again sent pets (Garuda) on WHM version and killed it in a couple of mins make sure to stay out of aoe range we where all about 100% HP at the end of the fight.

5 Smn/Whm, Brd/Whm

Indeed SMN is pretty much the easiest way ive found.

Our set up was 5 SMN/WHM 1 BRD/WHM. BRD kited WHM while SMN worked on BLM. As stated before P. Claws seemed to hit from 2k-4k per BP and in short time D. Shantotto was Face Down on the ground. We all started to head to the door cause this was the part we thought we would wipe at, But realized that we were not even close to needing to wipe so we started on WHM. One Healing Ruby II and all the SMN's were back to near full health. The only death that ended up happening was one of the Summoners got to close during Blood Pact Rage and got hit with AoE. Thanks to Bulaizu, Heffo, Dmann, Dadaz (Summoners including myself Macrom AKA Snoogins) Radius (Bard) great job was a very fun fight. If anyone on Lakshmi has questions send me a tell^^

whm/smn 2x smn/whm drg/sam rng/sam brd/nin

After timing out at 5% due to stun (Curse you Shantotto!) using whm/smn (myself) sch/rdm drg/sam drg/sam rng/sam smn/whm we decided to have another go using a slightly different setup.

The setup we used was whm/smn 2x smn/whm drg/sam rng/sam brd/nin. BRD pulled D Shantotto up to the circle while our drg pulled Shantotto down to the door. She was laughably easy once Angon and Dia landed, she had chance to use her stun/silence move exactly once before she went down, only casualty being the rng.

Instead of wiping at the door and RR as we normally would we decided to keep going, so we pulled D Shantotto back down to the door too. Again, once Angon+Dia landed she went down rapidly. Her weaponskill spam did get to be a concern at one point where I pulled hate and ate a Guillotine and Salvation Scythe causing a short wipe at 1%. However as we did not wipe before engaging her, our drg and brd reraised and melee'd that last 1% away in a couple of hits. Absolutely the most fun of the mini expansion fights, and we set the Lakshmi record to boot @ 10 minutes 7 seconds.

Edit: No 2hrs were used in the harming of this Shantotto.

DRK + KC + Stun test

Just did some testing with Dark Knight, Kraken Club, and Chainspell-Stun.

Entered, just the two of us, DRK/DRG and RDM/DRK (my husband and me). We gathered a few of the Hexes including HP(Penury) for Souleater's sake...

We focused on D. Shantotto. She has about 15,000 HP. She does not resist Souleater. She does not resist Stun.

Her spells and abilities are so fast though that Chainspell-Stun wasn't helping much so it's not something to be relied upon.

Whm/Sch, Whm/Smn, Brd/Nin, War/Sam, Sam/Nin x2

Did this today with the setup of WHM/SCH, WHM/SMN, BRD/NIN, WAR/SAM, and SAM/NIN x2. Basic strategy was to go in buff up and had the BRD do double minuet songs. BRD ran in and kited Shantotto (WHM) while WAR ran in and Provoked the Shantotto (BLM) then ran back to Door so melee would kill it using regular attacks and weaponskills. We had the SAM and WAR/SAM save Meditate until weaponskills were ready. Around 70% the Shantotto (whm) joined the battle, we hd the Bard use Soul Voice and then refreshed with Valor Minuet IV and III. Melee used another round of weaponskills at 40%, then followed it with 2-hours. The SAM and WAR both used meditate to 100% TP then used SAM's Meisho Shikue and WAR's used Mighty Strikes. then popped his Icarus Wing. After the SAM's burned through there 2hr they each popped I. Wings there selves. after all the WS's D. Shantotto was @ about 10%. while the DD were zerging the Mages were struggling keeping them alive because @ 30% D. Shantotto Raged herself. so WHM's ended up using Benediction (both). but we killed her. plan was to wipe after the BLM but you know how melee are, they continued to fight and got her to 50%. the WHM then raged herself and we wiped. we got back up after she ran away and rested for about 8 Minutes. once we were ready the Melee ran in and killed her off really quickly. there were some issues where she did her AoE WS that got melee down, but nothing serious. a RQ Curaga IV fixed that. we down the WHM shantotto in about 3 Minutes. Total time in our BCNM was 23 Minutes. Melee used, I. Wings, and 8 Remedies. WHM's used 7 Remedies, 5 Echo Drops, and 1 Elixer, Elixer was not needed at all.

4 DD 2 Healer Method

Just dominated this fight with: SAM SAM DRK BLU SCH WHM

Buffed up at start of fight, BLU went in to get the attention of both Shantottos. DRK pulled Domina Shantotto back to the door while BLU kept Shantotto busy back in the main area. All but the BLU stayed at the door and worked on Domina Shantotto at a steady pace, and once Shantotto joined Domina Shantotto in the fight, BLU went to deal damage to Domina Shantotto as well. At this point, SAM SAM and DRK used their 2hr to get Domina Shantotto killed as fast as possible so we could wipe. However, as it turns out once we killed Domina Shantotto we didn't even need to wipe. WHM and and BLU used 2hr on Shantotto, and we took her down with minimal trouble. WHM was nearly out of MP and was a taru, so the "wipe then fight shantotto" may be better for other groups.

2-MNK 2-SCH 1SMN 1RDM

MNK/sam MNK/war SMN/whm SCH/rdm SCH/rdm RDM/whm

gasp! no SAM or WHM!

Was this probably more difficult without two WHM's? Most likely. But since everybody is so willing to help out, we had to work with what jobs we had.

Here's what we did with this specific set up:

Pulled D.Shan to door, like suggested. Had RDM hold B.Shan, like suggested. We planned on wiping, but first triggered their "cooperative" mode. Got D.shan to about 3% but wiped. That's alright, wait for them to reset. RR (unweakened from the hexes), rebuff, cast reraise this time, and rest just like you're starting all over. Same thing.

Pull D.Shan to the door, but this time B.Shan won't cooperate with D.Shan, so the RDM/whm can hold her better. Also, both MNK's 2hour'd with D.Shan's HP @ 55% before all the hayday with her AoE status effects. First SCH/rdm used tabula rasa when the MNK's hp was in orange and spammed; barparalynaga, paralynaga, poisonaga, virunaga(virus/plague or whatever might actually only be from B.Shan's divine malison idr), Erasega, AoE firestorm(storm surge), CureIV's with potency stratagem, etc. Second SCH used tabula rasa about 20 seconds after the first SCH/rdm so you're getting the overlapping curing that you need to survive.

After D.Shan dies(some ppl popped a Hi-Elixir), rest a bit and start on B.Shan. While people were resting our SMN sent Garuda after B.Shan. We kept an eye on our RDM, he needed a few cures to help him out, his HP got a little low. Other than her divine malison move (which stuns/silences), she's pretty easy. Take her down, just keep an eye on your timer. We won with 2 minutes to spare I believe.

Throughout the entire fight the SMN used Garuda/Predator Claws, and at one point called Light Spirit to Curaga4(I think) the RDM while we were resting and he was holding B.Shan.

I suggest mages taking Echo Drops, and everybody having a stack of antidotes at the very least. There's no reason to not have echo drops, and the poison from D.Shant's scythe move is pretty harsh, especially when stacked with the Bio.

G'luck all! Tandem 00:05, November 16, 2009 (UTC)

Just Won with Smn x3, Sam, Whm, Blu. Used Blu/Nin to kite whm. Smn's used Gauruda and Preator Claws and Sam did the Sam thing. Whm cured as needed. We did wipe at start. We tried to pull whm to entrance and let the Smn's and Sam fight Blm in circle. Blu was unable to pull whm all the way back to door. Kept casting AM and right after helped Blm.

We wiped reraised and recovered. We went again this time Whm stayed in circle with Blu. Pulled the Blm to entrance. Killed the Blm and then WHm right after. We one with one Smn's standing with 100hp and 120mp.

Also One Smn had won this already. They did not get the Hexes prior to doing this fight and got no buffs upon entering. I'm glad this Smn helpled cause I got my win. Word of advice to people helping. If your gonna help, Reget the hexes or key items needed prior to seeking. This saves a ton of time. there are ways to get Maps and print them if you don't have in-game one.

All in all fun fight. Will do again for sure.

-Saxton-

Overestimated strategy of killing D. Shantotto first -.-

As I read in one of the very few comments about this fight, is way MUCH EASIER to KILL WHM SHANTOTTO FIRST !! you don't even will worry about wiping, we tried 1/3 times and is hella more easier, don't waste your time/hexes/patience in a very long fight when your risk of lose is high cus WHM Shantotto WILL ALWAYS ASSIST BLM ONE that doesn't happen when you kill the WHM one (D. Shantotto is fool enough to not assist her goodie goodie alter-ego lol). Magic strategy with only one casualty is to kill WHM one, saves you 2hrs and makes the fight fun. Have fun with the fight and get your pants that SE made us to get after this horrible getting-stuff quests ^_^ Avan de Jinuar III

Not true the BLM will assist the WHM at the right rage points we did 3x and each time the kiter lost hate regardless of action or hate as she ran to whm and skillchained then came back to kiter --Jamiegraham8210 19:12, November 18, 2009 (UTC)

  • We didn't have that problem and we had the WHM/NIN kiting the D. Shantotto and she never assisted WHM one, and for the record, both WILL rage, never said the contrary, but WHM shantotto is less dangerous and more weak than her BLM alter-ego; also, is lot easier but is never a sure win if the current precautions aren't been taken care of. Setup was: SMN/WHM, SMN/WHM, WHM/NIN, WHM/SCH, DRK/NIN, SAM/NIN (only one Benediction went off, everybody else kept their 2 hrs). If you ever have problems with the kiter just make him/her spam cures on the rage assist and kiter will regain hate, anyways cures are needed when rage is on effect ^_^. Regards. --- Avan de Jinuar III ---

We wiped to this a few days ago because Shantotto raged twice. had rdm kite D., we wiped but when we got shan. down the second time D. started skillchaining on us again. Anyone else have this experience? --Josephpate 01:56, November 18, 2009 (UTC)

Perhaps I wasn't clear, I kited D. Shantotto until she ran away from me to help out Shantotto. We wiped, I kited D. Shantotto again until she ran to help Shantotto A SECOND TIME. --Josephpate 06:12, November 21, 2009 (UTC)

  • Nope, in the 1/3 fights we did we didn't had that, but I don't doubt if it happened to you, just didn't happened in my case. Greetings. --- Avan de Jinuar III ---

MNK/NIN, SAM/NIN x2, BRD/WHM, WHM/SCH, SCH/RDM

Setup: MNK/NIN, SAM/NIN x2, BRD/WHM, WHM/SCH, SCH/RDM

Reasons for each job:

  • MNK/NIN - Puller, heavy DD, great 2 hour, and most importantly fully meritted Penance
  • SAM/NIN - Tachi: Rana > Tachi: Gekko self skillchains, heavy DD, great 2 hour
  • BRD/WHM - Minuet/March, Soul Voice, Troubadour (optional), Curaga 2, backup healing, help remove debuffs
  • WHM/SCH - Curaga 4, Benediction, healing magic, remove debuffs
  • SCH/RDM - Phalanxga, Stoneskinga, Curaga 4

Meds required:

  • 1 stack of echo drops per person
  • 3-4 remedies per person (to remove paralyze if needed)
  • Meat Mithkabobs/Chiefkabobs (DD's)

Strategy:

Everyone needs to have 16/16 hexes unless they are not currently on that mission or have already completed it since they will automatically get all buffs.

Enter the fight and buff up with Protect/Shell IV/V, Stoneskinga, Phalanxga, SAM's Meditate, put up shadows, pop Meat Mithkabobs/Chiefkabobs. Using meat is very important, you shouldn't be eating sushi or accuracy food. When everyone is buffed and ready, the MNK/NIN will run in and aggro both D. Shantotto and Shantotto and bring them back to the entrance. Everyone else stays at the entrance. NO ONE can touch Shantotto (WHM) until after D. Shantotto is dead. The SAM's should immediately self-skillchain one at a time onto D. Shantotto (BLM) with Tachi: Rana > Tachi: Gekko to get immediate hate off the MNK.

Now, a critical part to the success of this battle is for the MNK to use Penance. This will greatly reduce the number of skillchains D. Shantotto can get off and will help tremendously.

The mages should be trying to space far enough away from D. Shanototto so they won't get hit from -ga spells that may land. It is impossible to avoid the WS AoE when you are in curing range so don't even try, just use echo's/remedies/paralyna as needed.

While the fighting is going on, Shantotto (WHM) will be standing there casting mostly single target spells at the MNK that should be getting absorbed by shadows, just ignore her for now. Mages should stay on top of curing to keep everyone alive.

After the initial self-skillchains and hits from the SAM's and MNK, D. Shantotto should easily be close to 60%. SAM's should Store TP at this point and at 60%, the BRD should 2 hour, Soul Voice / Troubadour Minuet/March. At 50% rage mode should begin and DD's need to wait to WS until her DEF up wears off.

Both Shantotto and D. Shantotto will periodically gain the effect of DEF up once they reach 50%. This effect will come and go so making sure not to weaponskill during these periods is critical to success. DD's will notice their hits doing much less than normal so they should wait to weaponskill until the effect is off. This could be triggered by a specific move the Shantotto's do or after they taunt you, confirmation is needed. For anyone fighting Hydra you will be familiar with holding your WS's until after the physical shield wears off. This is the same thing. I couldn't tell exactly if it was a gradual wearing off of the DEF up or an on/off thing. Regardless, when your hits resume doing normal damage, WS her.

Another important point in this fight is if the Shantotto's use Meteor. If you see that spell going off, the WHM needs to be ready with a Benediction. Don't be afraid to use Benediction if you see it or if things look really bad and everyone has low health.

The SCH should try to put up Phalanxga/Stoneskinga throughout the fight as he can, but prioritize Curaga's.

After this next barrage of weaponskills, D. Shanotto should be down to 20-30%. The SAM's and MNK should then 2 hour and take her down quickly. She may hang at 1% for a little while but should eventually go down.

As soon as she dies, switch your attack to Shantotto (WHM). Work her down with attacks/weaponskills. At 50% she will rage. Do not panic, DD's need to be smart and patient about weaponskill's. Do not waste your WS's when she has her DEF bonus, wait until it wears off. Also, don't get lazy, cheap, or stupid about using your echo's and remedies, keep yourself alive!!

The last 10% of her life she gets crazy and starts spamming AoE's and you might go through 5 or more echo drops, but be patient and keep going. Eventually she will go down.

Using this strategy we were able to win this fight in less than 10 minutes, without wiping, and had no deaths. However the calibur of your DD's ability to put out damage will affect your success.

2 Smn/Whm, Rdm/Nin

Easy fight with 2 smn's and someone to hold one of the Shantotto

Setup:

  • SMN/WHM, SMN/WHM, RDM/NIN

Strat:

  • RDM pulls D.Shantotto then SMN's sic pets onto Shantotto
    • Summons have really high HP they can tank with ease
    • Predator Class worked best.
    • SMN's stay out of range of AoE, stay at least 25' away, only go in to re-sic your pet or BP.
    • SMN's communicate, when pet is low, make sure other pet has used a BP to take hate, then re-summon.
  • 3-5 BP's will take Shantotto to 50% at 50% D.Shantotto goes in to help, RDM needs to spam bio or some other form of magic on D.Shantotto to pull hate back.
  • If whip happens, pull back to the door and wipe, do not wipe in circle. Can still win with ease.
  • After Shantotto is dead, same strat for D.Shantotto, SMN's Communication is key <pethp> macro's are nice.
  • Take echo drops, D.Shantotto does a WS that will silence you. Keep the rdm paralyna when needed.
  • Screenshot
  • Edit: Did this 5 more times with no loss, I guess it all depends on the players. -None of use got a good belt :(.

We tried that strategy with Rdm/Nin, Smn/Whm x2. I think its doable, but you might have to eat Meteor. White Shantotto killed us with Meteor x2 when she was nearly dead. We got up and fought White One again and then Black One, but then we ran out of time. [[Ealaa 10:57, November 24, 2009 (UTC)Ealaa]]

This strat did not work for me.

Ok before people start flaming me i have just done this fight and lost horribly 3 times. We had melee group fight one shantotto at the door and I would solo the other as thf in the circle (we alternated between them to see any difference, which there wasn't) At 50% they 2 hrd and i completely lost hate and they raged. They did 3 AoEs and killed everyone in 5 sec. We wiped got back up and recovered. We do the same thing figuring the rage is gone. Nope. Same thing happened. 50% hit on whm and they both 2 hrd again and killed everyone. Seems they gain infinite rage everytime one of them hits 50%. They did this 3 times in a row. We tried zerging them and that didn't work. Seems they rage as much as they want when their Hp is past a certain point. So i discredit the "losing rage after they 2 hr once" This isn't true and they do call each other no matter which way you fight them. I did this again and Blm Shantotto raged/2 hrd 2 times. We survived the first wave but 2nd wave she just murdered us. We raised and recovered. Fought again. It was workinging smoothly until whm hit 90% and a 3rd 2 hr activated and we wiped again. I confirm that they have random ability to 2 hr rage whenever they feel like it. This is fight is near impossible to beat without broken job combinations. Also heard that SE recently did an update that they didn't announce nor explain what it was for. My friend said that they made the fight harder cause people were beating it too easily. Verification Needed

  • I don't think the strats here are false. I think you're confusing 'rage mode' with their ability to Skillchain with each other. They don't 'rage' a second time but they can still call the other Shantotto and SC with each other. Also, they don't '2 hour' either since there's no 2 hour animation.
  • The Kite/Soloer needs to be able to generate enough hate to keep Shantotto busy and reduce the chance of her running back to Skillchain as often with D. Shantotto. But as above, rage is when D.Shantotto starts spamming Tier I spells for 800+ damage, not when she Skillchains. Also you did not post your setup which does not help others work out why the strategy did not work for you. --Miitan 23:58, November 29, 2009 (UTC)

MNK/WAR, SAM/NIN, WAR/NIN, BRD/NIN, WHM/SCH, WHM/BLM

Disclaimer: Not sure if the abovementioned "update" applied to our party. We won 39 hours ago. Was 1/2 for me.

What we did:

All of us had 16 hexes each. Mages brought echo drops and cookies. Each melee had an icarus wing and 8 remedies.

Strategy was to defeat whm Shantotto first before going for blm D.Shantotto. WAR aggroed both Shantotto. WAR pulled back Shantotto (whm) to door while BRD kited D.Shantotto (blm) at circle. Melees held back weapon skills till Shantotto was at 55%. Zerged Shantotto but despite our best efforts with 2hs from even our WHMs, we wiped.

IMPORTANT: Ensure unweakened reraise (from hex) is not wasted by getting up too early. We had our leader give the signal to get up when it was deemed safe by him.

Everyone rested to full hp and mp. Same thing again. We full attacked the whm Shantotto first while BRD kited D.Shantotto. Shantotto took quite a while to go down but once she was down, all of us went for D.Shantotto and used remedies when needed. Defeated D.Shantotto at around 21 minutes.

Good luck! The cutscene was worth the pain LOL

I believe what the earlier post mentioned about SE giving the hint that players can expect to wipe once given the unweakened reraise obtained by one of the hexes. Things may look bleak but do not give up!

--Ragnarok.Pandion 17:47, November 29, 2009 (UTC)

I OFFICIALLY GIVE UP. READ ON.

I just tried this again for the 5th damn time and wiped again. We started killing the blm shantotto near the door ignoring the whm one. We got her down to 10% then she killed everyone in about 10 sec with 3-4 AOE spams in a row. We raise get up and try again. Same thing happens with rage mode and team up. Happened about 3 times and the 2 hr animation happened 2 times which i think is for their team up to initiate. We wiped at 20 min mark fully buffed. We got up and rewiped at 8 min mark. Her defense is too much. And she seems to gain the defense boost at random intervals as much as she wants. I've offically declared this fight extremely stupid and near impossible to win without broken job setups. Our setup was THF/NIN, SAM/NIN x2, WHM/SCH, RDM/WHM and SMN/WHM. Seemed like a solid setup but nope it isn't at all. Everyone dies stupid fast from team up 2 hr even with spam healing. And the fact they team up as much as they want is really irritating. SE made this fight heavily biased for smn burn imo. And from what i've seen a lot of groups aren't able to beat it now cause of the update. Seems everyone just gonna smn burn it now. Good job SE. You are offically beyond retarded status.

  • Penance makes this fight a joke. Everyone wants an easy strategy but then refuses to actually use strategy aside from burning it down or x5 SMN or BLM'ing things nowadays. Seriously, just use the strat I posted, it's such an easy fight. Asura Server --Bremenn 15:33, November 18, 2009 (UTC)
  • I know it must be frustrating, but try varying your setup a bit. We had a WAR/NIN kite D.Shantotto and even though we lost the fight (timed out with Shantotto dead and D.Shantotto at 14%) I believe it's quite doable without Astral Burn. Your kiter needs to keep hate to prevent the kited shantotto from assisting the other more than once. WAR/NIN with an Iron Ram Lance was perfect for this slot, though I can see why a BRD or COR would likely be a bit better.
  • I feel you man, is really frustrating. My two cents, swap only the thief for a SMN if possible, two avatars on it will help your team to heal your wounds and give you extra time. Also try to beat WHM one first, the wipe can either way happens but is less of a problem with the WHM, has less DEF; stun spells also come in handy for AoE spells, but again is my 2 cents to you, greetings. ^_^
  • Just because you haven't won yet with a regular party doesn't mean you can't. 5 times is nothing. I took 5 of my LS members to the Crystal final 16 times before we managed to sink it. This battle is one of the VERY FEW battles in which summoners can win so give us a break. If you can't win with your party, you're doing something wrong. Fix it and try again. Giving up never got anyone any free gear. ^o^
  • Change from Thief to a heavy DD, swop the RDM for another WHM and you could walk all over this battle. When they go nuts the key is to have the WHMs spamming Curaga III/IV while you finish the first one off. Once you have that done, you can die and reraise and laugh all the way to the win. The key is to zerg the last 40-50% down as fast as possible with all the DDs using food / meds / i.wings / 2hrs. Have the SMN do the kiting and you should be ok with just those changes.
  • Did this fight over 20 times to help other linkshell members win. Just because you can't win with multiple SAMs doesn't mean the fight is broken. You SAM drones need to use actual tactics and not just spam weaponskills XD... Also THF and RDM are pretty weak in this BC. Won this fight with healerx2 (WHM and/or SCH) 3 melee and RNG. Ranger holds then shadowbinds the WHM Shantotto (since the BLM is immune to bind) around rage time, and the DD zerg the BLM. The AoE spam is easily dealt with the melee standing at max distance for attacks to hit and the mages standing max distance from the melee spamming curaga III or IV. "Biased towards SMN burn" made me lol what about everyone who is biased towards SAM burn? Don't get to complain there because you're a SAM and not a SMN, right? XD
  • I agree with this guy, i've THF, BST and BLM at 75 (ok BST is useless for almost averything) and the only way i have to clear this bc is paying mercenaries cuz anyone want me for this mission and i'm not up to level other job. Gj SE. --Vodak 23:24, December 6, 2009 (UTC)
  • Its frustrating, yes... but you can't give up, this fight is easy to learn from your mistakes/misfortunes. YOU CANNOT IGNORE ONE OF THE MOBS! Have your RDM go /NIN and kite the BLM while you work on the WHM. /NIN is only useful for RDM kiter. Melees go as whatever they can maximize damage with, SAM/WAR... etc. Have your melees save TP at 50%'ish, keep eye out for the damage they're dealing, since WHM will rage and its DEF spikes temporarily. Hell, at the point of Rage-mode, you can wipe w/o using 2hrs, get up and start again with the knowledge that the WHM is now killable at any point. Start again as you did before, fighting the WHM at entrance, kiting BLM in the circle. Then at 50%, have everyone pour all they have into it. SAM take turns 2hring to get full use of SC's (although I noticed more damage from gekko spam, from my first attempt) and SMN Astral Flowing last bit of mp to finish it off. The quicker you kill the WHM at <50%, the less chance the BLM will come back for another /assist, which happens multiple times... so have RDM always be ready to peel it back away from the melees. If necessary, at this point, wipe again at entrance (no exp loss) so that you may reset and rest to full (after weakness) and only have BLM to deal with.... which is WAY easier when not paired with the WHM. Be on the ready to Benediction after Meteor. Blade Bash -agaIII's, if possible. You're golden. RDM chainspell nuke, if desired.... especially if your SAMx2 can toss a pair of SC's at it to maximize RDM nuking dmg.

i give up too. 0/10, decent set ups each time. the pants aint fuckin worth the time and headache. SE can rot in HIFL

WHM WHM RDM DRK DRK SAM

  • WHM/SCH WHM/BLM RDM/NIN DRK/WAR DRK/SAM SAM/WAR

Won, despite wiping to WHM at 1%.... and then wiping AGAIN during Reraise process! Props to those who kept their heads and were willing to give the same attempt another chance.

  • RDM/NIN kited the BLM while the WHM was pulled as far back to doorway as possible. DRKs tanked with Dreadspikes and WHM curespam. Initial plan was to have DRK+SAM 2hr the WHM and 2nd DRK to 2hr the BLM, but that went down the toilet when we wiped at WHM's last 1% (RAGED), special thanks to BLM /assisting with Meteor. After Reraising and wiping again trying to finish off 1% WHM, we were forced to do another Reraise and wait for weakness and start over with no 2hr's except 1 DRK.

WHM went down with ease, now that it had already Raged before... DRK 2hring the WHM made quick work of low% so that we didn't even have to worry about BLM /assist. Moved immediately on to BLM and killed with no 2hrs. -AGA III/AM2 spells were stunned/bashed and luckily we never had to deal with Meteor flurry, but WHMx2 still had plenty of MP just in case.

  • noteables
    • WHM resists stun
    • BLM does not resist stun
    • 2 wipes is still no reason to give up
    • BRING REMEDIES!
    • BRING ECHO DROPS!

RDM/WHM, RDM/WHM, WHM/SCH, WAR/NIN, WAR/NIN, MNK/NIN

Failed 2x. First time We tried with Warrior grabbing the D. Shantotto and everyone working down D, while Shantotto sat back and casted weak nukes. At around 60%, Melee 2 houred and worked it down and got D to 14% and wiped. Tried to unweak, and try D again, but again we just couldn't get D dead. 2nd attempt, we got D down to 50% and started 2 hours. RDM also were chainspell curaga IIing the group and it was working great, but the defense of D was so high again that we couldn't bring it down. Our WHM benedictioned when 3 of our members were dead waiting for the raise up option to appear. This caused our melee to have only 1000 or so HP and die shortly after re-engaging D. Probably could have killed it had that mistake not happened. The healing seemed quite sub par overall. The group was 3 JP and 3 NA so it was hard to communicate in general. Although I was happy to finally be able to even try the fight after 3 weeks of just trying to put a group together, I was disappointed at the results. I'll probably take suggestions from above and not bother subbing ninja on my warrior and just go sub Samurai. --Saithorx

DRK/NIN SAM/NINx2 WHM/SCHx2 BRD/NIN

BRD SV double march. BRD body pull and kite, SAM pull D. Shantotto to DRK. DRK KC zerged D Shantotto down in 14 seconds. DRK tried to run to Shantotto for the other half of Blood Weapon but only got to it with 6s left and got it down to 70%. WHMs cure bombed DRK until DRK died with Shantotto at 25%. SAMs finished it off. We won in 5 min 16 seconds iirc.

2 KC DRKs and a BRD could trio this and kill both mobs in about 15s.

Just need competent Healers

Just did fight today .. 3 X SAM , 2 WHM and RDM Killed them both w/o any wipe. No special plans nothing elaborate. Just used echo drops on silence and spammed curaga 3 and curaga 4 when Shantotto started using meteor. Not sure why people have such a hard time with this fight. Keep peoples HP capped out and its really really easy. No real danger at all and never ran outta MP. No Relics or anything either.. just regular DD's. Jado818 06:12, January 12, 2010 (UTC)

MNK/WAR MNK/WAR SAM/WAR THF/NIN WHM/SCH RDM/WHM

Fun fight that never really looked to risk losing. Started by fully buffing etc, DD's ate meat (although in retrospect, sushi could have been ok as well since they seemed to gain some killer evasion) and we got ready for the pull. MNK (me) and THF went up and THF aggro'd them both while I pulled the BLM back to the start, THF kept the WHM entertained while the MNK,MNK,SAM combo started whailing on the BLM. She dropped down pretty damn fast, until she called in WHM, at which point the THF started in on the BLM instead. The two MNK's 2h'd at roughly 42%, while the SAM didn't 2h till about 5~10%, I died (MNK) not long after my 2h was finished, I RR'd up to keep pounding.

Once the BLM went down, we started in on the WHM to get rid of any future rages, wiped at about 34% at the door, watched her run off, RR'd back up, WHM raised me up and we rested till my weakness wore, this gave us almost full HP/MP before we started on the WHM. This was pretty strait forward, just pound at her, spam curaga's, and pop remedies as needed. Both mages used their 2h during the final few minutes, but I don't think it was totally needed.

Some notes:

  • THF handled them self fine with Feint and Sneak Attack providing nice dmg bonuses in the dying minutes of each mobs HP.
  • Every Melee had Coerl Sub's (THF ate sushi), iwing and a stack of remedies.
  • Both mages had remedies and echo drops.
  • Enjoy your new pants! FFXI-Tyr 21:37, January 26, 2010 (UTC)

Smn/Whm x2, whm/sch, sam/war, mnk/war, rdm/blm

After going 0/4 on the 3 DD, kiter and 2 Healer strategy we decided to try a beefed up version of the 2 SMN & 1 RDM strategy posted above. DDs hung back at the entrance with the WHM, SMNs went to work on Shantotto while RDM (who's gf geared him for the fight but forgot to change his sub...) kitted D. Shantotto admirably. SMNs took Shantotto to 25% when DDs rushed in. SAM (that's me!) was hindered severely by the plague effect of her Weaponskills which Remedies would not remove. DDs and two Garudas pulled Shantotto down to 1% but an ill-timed Meteor lead to a wipe. Everyone RR'd up, rested and went back with the same strategy which went much smoother with the mini-rage modes gone. Shantotto went down after 2-3 minutes and everyone dogpiled D. Shantotto towards the end. Won with 7 minutes left.

Notes:

  • I still have mixed feelings about not going /NIN to this fight... the constant -ga spam seems to make it a useless sub, but it's ability to absorb Tier II AM would have been quite valuable.
  • Since it hasn't been posted, it is possible to interrupt both Shantottos with Blade Bash or similar abilities. Quite handy when you're without shadows and staring down a Quake II --ThrasonicBoom 20:22, January 31, 2010 (UTC)

WHM/SMN, WHM/SCH, WAR/SAM, BLU/NINx2, SAM/NIN

Finally won this tonight with a typical melee-burn. As per strategies above, one BLU/NIN (myself) held White long enough to prevent their skillchains from connecting. With Cocoon, Taco, and Saline Coat, I was taking ~150 damage from her melee hits and ~300 damage from her nukes, if they bypassed my shadows. Note that while D. is susceptible to Head Butt and Actinic Burst, Shantotto is not.

For D., around 30%, I couldn't hold Shantotto any longer so I went to help finish her off. I actually managed to rage her myself and bring her to ~60%, but thankfully the rest of the pt kept D. busy to prevent the AoE Skillchain shitstorm. Surprisingly, it's not very dangerous for Shantotto to be running around when D. is under 25%. She will occasionally nuke random targets with AM, but is not much of a threat. I also never saw her use an AoE spell.

My only real advice would be to keep an eye on Silence and Paralysis. You will get hit with them. A lot. Like every 10 seconds. A stack or more of echo drops is vital for anyone with MP, and WHMs should remove para when they get a minute of breathing room to prevent JA/2 Hours from getting eaten. Don't be shy to 2hour either, but avoid doing it during her rage cycles. WHMs should Bene to top off HP if the entire party is falling into red. Discuss beforehand which WHM will use Bene first.

The SAM was /NIN by accident, and we had one death (other BLU/NIN to D.'s WS), but otherwise, no wipes or breaks. We finished in under 10 minutes without too much difficulty. We didn't even see Meteor.

As with all the add-on final bosses, there is one thing you cannot bring to this fight and that is gimps. You don't need relic weapons or salvage gear, nor do you need 4 SAMs, but you cannot afford to bring sub-par DDs or inexperienced healers and expect to win. This is pretty much what makes the difference between success and failure. --Eremes 07:21, February 4, 2010 (UTC)

2 Whm/Sch, Rdm/Nin, Drg/Sam, War/Sam, Drk/Sam

Just won this one yesterday with this very solid setup.

Everyone had every hex. Mages had vile elixer and vile+1, remedies and echos. Melee had remedies and ic. wings.

Rdm/nin held w.shantotto in the circle while melee pulled d.shan to the door. Melees fought at max range facing door, and whms cured at max range. Worked well until we whms started pulling hate, then it didn't matter. Bunched up for curagas.

Shantotto assisted D. @~75%, and rdm was unable to pull her back.(Unlike the last try where we killed w.shantotto first-rdm was able to pull d. away)

We wiped @60% on d.shan, but rdm hit bioIII(max merits-2.5 minutes-good method to not waste your work) before wipe so she wouldn't regen. When they reset, we RR, DS curaga4'd, put up new RR(i used my NQ vile for 1k mp) and went straight back at it.

Melees started 2 houring and zerged D. shan down quite quickly. War kept voking throughout, helped keep hate off the mages at times. Drg 2hour jump is very helpful to zerg the last of D.shan down. And don't forget a drk can stun D.shan, stun them big -agas.

After that it was quite manageable. Ended up using benediction, spammed a lot of curaga 4s, and had to use my vile+1 to cure my hp(mp was a bonus). W.shan's AEO divine rain? is a pain for cure interrupts, it is hard to stay out of range once hate starts bouncing. Other whm ran out of MP, I finished with ~800 left. Was a big help that until AOE was being spammed, us two whms were able to throw out mainly cure 5s, so our enmity was nice and low, until we had to start curagaing.

Good luck to everyone whom have not yet won^^ -Moggly 09:13, February 8, 2010 (UTC)

WHM/SMN, SCH/WHM, BRD/NIN, DRG/SAM, SAM/WAR, SAM/WAR

My group gathered all 16 hexes, entered the fight and failed miserably. Our BRD kited the white one really well and we got black Shantotto low fairly fast. Then the white Shantotto assisted and we wiped fast. After we all got up, we decided to kill the white one first. The black one assisted and wipe us again. All and all it was a really frustrating fight. -Faria

WHM/SMN, WHM/SCH, MNK/WAR, SAM/WAR, SAM/NIN, NIN/WAR

So, we I tried again with a slightly different set-up that still focused on melee DD. We failed miserably again. The NIN kited the white Shantotto, while the rest worked on the black one. Needless to say, once the white one assisted, we got owned. Those weapon skill added effects are nasty. I'm not a fan of this fight at all. -Faria

Summoners

Anyone tried summoners in this bcnm past the 29th of March? according to PoL update news, the avatar/pets not being buffed was a bug. --Taruzard 15:38, April 2, 2010 (UTC)

WHM, RDM, SMN, SAMx3

We went in the first time with RDM, SMN, SAMx3 + BRD and did extremely well til about 35% on the white Shantotto. We gathered the Hex's again and this time our BRD changed to WHM. While D Shantotto lasted MUCH longer without the SV Minuet stacks, white Shantotto gave us very little pause.

Started out with the RDM/NIN pulling White Shantotto and trying to keep her attention. While our WHM pulled D Shantotto back to the DD. Samurai's took turns self SC with the 200tp they medded up before engaging. Then one of the 2houred to ensure D Shantotto's death. At 50% the White Shantotto went to help at which time the RDM could not peal her away. However, by fighting D at the door it took her long time to move close enough to actually Weaponskill. D Shantotto died before White Shantotto killed everyone.

Reraised up... twiddled our thumbs for 5 minutes as we healed to full and engaged White Shantotto. At 60% Sam#2 2houred... When he was done Sam#3 2houred. We didnt see Meteor but we saw her spam her annoying stun/plague/silence Weaponskill repeatedly. We lost Sam#2 but he RR'd and helped to defeat her. Got hairy at around 5% but a WHM > this BC.

Note: The "kiter" should have /nin only because of the 5 or 6 spells she will cast on you. If you are a PLD or a RDM you more than likely could simply eat the tier4's she casts at this stage and heal yourself to full before the next one landed. AA or Blink could eat one or two and SS will definitely help, but because of the buffs you receive you have high survivability even without them as long as you have high MDB and know what you are doing. After all she will eventually go help the other version of her.

80WHM/NIN, 77WHM/BLM, 80MNK/NIN X 2, 80DRG/SAM, 80SAM/NIN

We did this fight really easily. WHM/NIN flashed the WHM Shantotto and one MNK Chi Blasted the BLM Shantotto. The MNK pulled the BLM Shantotto back to the door and all melee engaged. WHM/NIN held the WHM Shantotto in the circle (not kiting, just standing there and recasting shadows), but close enough to cure the other WHM of paralyze and emergency cures on the melee (eventually hate was lost on WHM Shantotto when she went to help BLM Shantotto). Melee beat BLM Shantotto down to 55% then all opened up 2 hours. BLM Shantotto went down, then they switched to WHM Shantotto. We had to use one Benediction around 40-50% of WHM Shantotto after an AoE attack but no other issues. Maybe level 80 really helps? Never tried it before, just bought expansion. --Meara 13:12, August 7, 2010 (UTC)

TRIO - 90BLU/NIN, 90SMN/WHM, 90WHM/RDM

Just won this today as a trio to see if it was possible, considering there have been no posts since the cap was risen to lv80. My wife and I low-man everything we can so we were curious.

  • Note: I was BLU while my wife was Duo-Boxing the SMN and WHM. This was by no means an easy feat and it should go smoother for people that try w/ 3 actual players.

We had a pretty simple strategy. SMN would start by engaging D. Shantotto (BLM) with Garuda and kite/DD with Predator Claws as able in the center while I pulled Shantotto (WHM) back to the door where the WHM was hanging out. After that is was pretty much normal BLU zerg-spell spam and SMN soloing techniques.

  • What you have to be careful of though with killing both at the same time as BLU and SMN is going too fast. Cause often you will do too much too fast and then you end up with back-to-back Duo Raged Weapon skills from the Shantottos and it can get hectic and you will see Red HP.

MP was never an issue since we had all of the Hexes and by the time I killed Shantotto (WHM), the BLM version only had about 10% worth of health left which quickly disappeared.

My wife did die on SMN once; but after D. Shantotto ran to me she got up, cast Cure IV and went back to killing her with no problems.

Note worthy Spells and items:

For BLU I had Saline Coat and Geist Wall set (because it is Dark based), which helped alot to mitigate the spell damage and remove Shantotto's nasty Protect V.

We both had to use Echo Drops of course and I brought some Potions in case it got crazy and my wife was to busy with the BLM to toss me a cure on the WHM.

Overall a crazy fun fight. Good luck! We beat it in 8min :03sec --RoNinShibo 23:50, January 12, 2011 (UTC)

Duo 90BST/DNC and 90SMN/WHM

Held both Shantottos at the opposite end of the battlefield with NurseryNazuna and Garuda. Summoner used Predator Claws at every opportunity, and Beastmaster used Reward when necessary (Pet Food Eta Biscuits healed for 2718 HP with +50% Reward gear) which healed about 20~22% of total health. Both players stayed close to the BC entrance, keeping at least 30+ yalms distance away. NN never dropped below 50% HP (used 5 Etas total) and the total clear time for the fight was 11 min. Ridiculously easy. --Falkirk 14:23, March 26, 2011 (UTC)

- Easy duo two 90 smn/whm as well. Didn't even hold them apart. One Garuda took one, and the other Garuda took the other. Used Pred Claws whenever it was up and Whispering Wind when the Avatars' hp got low. One Avatar died at about 15% of the last Shantotto's health, that was seriously the only complication. Clear time was about 6 min.

pants re-obtainable as with other addons/expansions?

I have been looking on wiki and the official addon site etc looking to see if these are re-obtainable (on the off chance I decide once I beat this (0/6 so far) and decide I want mage pants instead of rng pants for example...) but I have been unable to find anything stating if it is or not. For many mission items in the game SE has allowed them to be re-questable if you drop them (after a certain time frame). Any information would be appreciated.

Name of article and software limitations

Why does the no colon in the article name rule not apply to Ninjutsu, but it does for this article? --Blue Donkey Kong 05:00, August 9, 2010 (UTC)

Maybe the code for the wiki changed since then and now it cant be done, best to ask the admin --Icari 12:18, August 9, 2010 (UTC)

95 BST solo

Easily soloed by BST95/NIN47 using Gooey Gerard. Gear used included two -Pet PDT axes and Anwig Salade with -Pet DT. The Shantottos aggroed me before I could get close enough to send in my pet. So I sent pet in against Shantotto and started to beat on D. Shantotto just long enough to get some hate and snarl it onto Gerard. I then got out of AoE range and let Gerard do all the work, only getting close enough for occasional Reward and Corrosive Ooze. I used two Zetas and one Eta (though it probably could have been a 3rd Zeta instead). The only time I felt like I was in danger was when D. Shantotto's AoE hit me and I had poison and bio. I took the poison off with an antidote, but the bio took a long time to wear off. I wasn't sure how long the bio would last, so I used Run Wild once D. Shantotto was down to try and speed up the fight. Bio wore off when I still had 1500 HP, so Run Wild turned out to be unnecessary. Fight took 12 minutes.

Agree with above post. Same setup, and similarly was aggroed before I could put pet on them. They must have bigger agro range than our JA range. Wasn't a problem though, managed to lose 1 shadow before I used Snarl and could retreat to safety. I can say with some confidence that even using pet food was not necessary. I used 3; the first to erase paralyze from pet, the 2nd because I was still playing it safe, as I was tossing the 3rd zeta I began to wondor what for. Meh. Also took 12mins and probably could have walked away after pet had them. Fear not BSTs! --Alamond 04:33, November 19, 2011 (UTC)
