article needs to be cleaned-up

i'm going to take it up myself to clean up this article. i've been doing it for quite a few.

Articles are NOT Guides. When editing an article, only add factual information that can be supported with evidence. individual research is ok when it's basic information. however, adding things like 'berserk isn't recommended,' or 'ccb polymer pumps are 'really useful. things like that are subjective information. we should instead say, 'ccb polymer pumps prevent omega and ultima from using any TP moves.' that is what they do, and that's all that needs to be provided.

if anyone wants to assist me in the clean-up, please do, but if you're thinking about adding strategy information, it belongs in a guide or here on the talk page.

Edit: Changed a lot. mostly removed information. i will be adding to it later. do not revert it back. the page was a mess before. if you want strategy information, please review a guide or the talk page. i also realize that i left some things out, but i will add them shortly. i'm about to take my friends through the fight, and i'm going to test susceptibilities. if anyone has proof on these, please post them though.

also, don't shit bricks. the page was a mess and needed to be cleaned up.

why remove the pictures? personally, i don't feel they're necessary, and they weren't that great of pictures anyways. some people don't want spoilers, but they do want some basic information, such as HP, susceptibilities, etc. Posting everything en masse on the main article page is not a good idea, and can spoil some things for people who just want an idea on the fight, but not everything. not to mention, basic information was hard to find amid all of the 'strategy' information posted.

ok

thank you

help request

My CoP static is kind of stuck on this, but we've got Mammets down to a science and we've pretty much gotten Omega down too. I've been FRAPSing our battles and saving the battle logs to carefully analyze these bosses, so I'll add a little of what I've learned and what strategies we've been using.

For the Mammets, rather than kiting at all we just have all the melees (and our SMN) grab one and solo them in a corner of the airship while the mages (WHM and BLM for us) run around Silencing and Curing. As Ninja, I pull two of the mammets into one corner, while our DRG, SAM, and SMN each grab one. The DRG and SAM gang up on one of theirs in their corner while the SMN distracts the last one in his own corner. Keeping them separate is important to minimize the toll from AoE abilities and spells. Whenever anyone kills a Mammet, they move on to the next one with the lowest HP. Using this method we always reach the next stage of the battle with 37 minutes to spare.

On Omega, if a Ninja is tanking I highly suggest using Bat Earrings x2 and tanking blind, spamming elemental Ninjutsu to keep hate (I don't recommend using staves, though, as the constant equipment change blink will screw up mages' quick healing). Omega will use a special move about every 20 seconds (although this can vary between 10 seconds and 40). As it says in the article, all melees should /NIN if possible to avoid Target Analysis and Guided Missile, and if possible mages should haste ALL melees to reduce Utsusemi recast. Mages should also be very quick to cure paralysis, petrification, and damage. Mages should take turns resting as this can be a very long battle. BLM nuking is not recommended as Omega needs to be kept far away from the mages.

Omega's attack rate increases as his HP gets lower. This seems to start around ~40% HP and gets especially bad around 25% and even worse at ~10%. Since his attacks have "Additional Effect: Stun" and he hits quite hard, and also uses brutal abilities at this point, it is important to finish him off quickly with two hours. Astral Flow is a really good choice since you can get more than one big blast in. IT IS ESSENTIAL though that you use a CCB Polymer before he hits the 25% mark because "Discharger" will annul magic damage and the Shock Spikes will probably stun melees, making your 2-hours go to waste.

On Ultima, be advised that for the first 30% of his HP, he is only trying to get you to waste MP. Every 20 seconds, he will use either Particle Shield (defense up), Chemical Bomb (Slow+Elegy), or Wire Cutter (physical damage that can be absorbed by only two shadows). If you bother Dispelling every Particle Shield and using Erase+Erase+Haste (76 MP) to get the NIN back up to optimum speed, you're just throwing away MP because he'll probably just use it again in 20 seconds. Erase once, maybe even twice if the NIN has image trouble, but Ultima attacks really slow anyway so Haste is definitely not worth it. At this stage just slowly beat him down.

Once Ultima hits 70% HP he changes battle modes completely, from "Flower Mode" to "Elemental Pushover." Erase all Slowness on the tank, Haste, and Dispel (he won't use Chemical Bomb or Particle Shield again until the 40% stage or lower). Now every 20 seconds, his game is to use Nuclear Waste (-50 all elemental resistances) followed immediately by an elemental+status attack (~500 damage). Use the Bar-status spell that you want to protect against the most (I recommend Barpetra), as well as a Bar-element spell. Keep Ultima facing the tank and ONLY the tank, as these attacks are line-of-sight (or breath area?). He seems to repeat himself a lot, so have a mobile mage (preferably not the WHM, in case he gets inadvertantly Petrified or something) run in and cast a Bar-elementra spell of what he seems to be using the most. Make sure everyone knows which elements cause which status effect, and melees should bring Antidotes and Echo Drops since they can cure these ailments themselves. Keep the tank above 500 HP since the attacks do about this much damage. On my last attempt, Ultima did something unexpected -- at 45% HP he used TWO elemental attacks in a row, without the usual ~20 second wait -- I died.

At 40%, Ultima starts using Equalizer (AoE physical damage), and I think he'll also start using Chemical Bomb, Particle Shield, and Wire Cutter again. I guess just treat him like Omega at this stage -- keep mages away, keep utsusemi up, and you may need to Erase+Erase and maybe +Haste if you can afford the MP, if he's using Chemical Bomb.

At 20% (I think?), beware of Antimatter - it is very powerful. You should just use CCB Polymers at this point, and use what 2 hours you have left. We got him down to about 6% HP on our first attempt, but he was spamming Antimatter 2 or 3 at a time.

I've determined that Omega has about 11,000 HP and Ultima has about 12,000 HP. I determined these numbers by counting exactly how much damage was dealt to these bosses in a given amount of time (except for DoT damage which isn't shown in the log) and measuring his HP bar (by pixels) at the beginning and end of the countings, so they should be pretty accurate. Use this info in determining how much damage you need to do when these bosses start going crazy. In other words, you'll need to count on doing ~3000 damage to Omega when he gets to 25%, and ~2500 damage to Ultima when he gets to 20%.

Hope my info helps.

Thanks for the info, that pretty much matches my experience, except for the HP numbers. The log parser says we did 13455 and 13922 damage to Omega the two times we defeated it, 14845 to Ultima. So I'd guess more like 14k and 15k HP, respectively. --Valyana 22:30, 17 Jan 2006 (PST)

My static did this as a rather untraditional collection of jobs and we actually pulled this off in three tries, and really only one of those ought to count (the first time Omega wiped us all when it used Guided Missle immediately after being voked, the second time we actually managed to get our asses kicked by the mammets.. not sure how). The party was nin, rng, rdm, blm, smn, smn. We used Spring Water to deal with Petrify, it actually worked out quite well. Our winning run only took about 32 minutes. --Toksyuryel 22:28, 29 January 2007 (EST)

I want to add that we did this BEFORE the update that split the smn Blood Pact timers, so this setup should be even more effective now. --Toksyuryel 22:32, 29 January 2007 (EST)

I attempted this today with my linkshell as a SMN/WHM, and something really strange keeps happening; our strategy was to go into the Mammets with the NIN holding them, and a SAM picking them off. I use Double Slap on the claimed mob the SAM is attacking, release the avatar, and immediately ALL of the other Mammets come to attack/cast -ga spells on the entire party, as thought he avatar hate went straight to all the party members. This happened to us TWICE and it was a sure way to wipe almost immediately. Our setup is NIN,WHM,BRD,SAM,SMN. I don't know what the hell is up with this. --Anivy 27 July 2009

Unconventional Party Set up testimony

Just did this with Brd/Whm | Nin/War | Blu/Nin | Mnk/Nin | Bst/Nin | Whm/Blm

-Mammet Fight- The super kite strat seems good in theory but it's very risky, our Ninja/tank/kiter had close to +70 evasion with gear/food set up not counting double mambo and Mammets had about 20% ACC with melee(i.e. the Ninja evaded 80% of all melee attacks. But it seemed that this only lasted for a short time, after which they all turn into mage type and spam Tier2 Ga spells which have a massive range. On second attempt we decided to all take on a Mammet each(except mages) Bst took 2 Mammets w/pet. Whoever killed first went on to help the next player until there was the last one standing. This method proved far more efficient and safe. Each fight took place on opposite sides of the ship and mages were in the middle distributing cures and silencing Mammets during their mage stages. Also note that Mammets are very weak to Ninja elemental spells and all de-buffs stuck unresisted.

-Omega- First I must note in hindsight Omega is far more dangerous then Ultima, this section of the fight is the most crucial to your timer and success for this mission. Omega will eat up your time and if left un-checked will cause massive damage. He did open with Guided Missile on our run which one-shotted our Whm, so when your tank goes into engage make sure your healers stay in the opposite direction. Omega spammed Hyper Pulse which strips all shadows and binds, in-between Hyper Pulse he used most all other special abilities with moderation. If all 5 members have CCB Pump I would highly suggest using up to 3 of them if necessary, especially to stop Hyper Pulse. If anyone should die you can raise fairly close to Omega without aggro and or tractor. Omega also seems to have very strong Melee defense but very weak Magic defense. Melee hits ranged from low 10 damage per hit to high/crits for 25-30 damage per hit. However Ninja elemental damage Ni spells were doing upwards of 80 damage per spell with no resists(even Jubaku Ichi stuck on multiple casts) . I would suggest all Mage/nuke party members to use their 2hr's on Omega since he has very low resistance to magic damage. Have DD's save 2hr's for Ultima.

-Ultima- Now the CS may make Ultima look more intimidating but in our experience he is far less dangerous on time then Omega. Ultima has a much slower attack speed then Omega he also is the exact opposite in terms of resistance to attack. Where as Omega was very strong against Melee and weak to Magic, Ultima is weak to Melee and very strong to magic attacks and resistance to de-buffs. Like Omega spamming Hyper Pulse, Ultima spammed Chemical Bomb which is a very intense slow effect, similar to the slow from special attacks from Demon Beastmen. This slow will overwrite haste, if your DD's and or tank can get a haste belt this comes in handy for the fight. The second most used special ability was Nuclear Waste. Only towards the last 30% of health did he start to use more devastating special abilities like Equalizer so use a CCB pump at around 40%, dont wait until he uses a special ability because by then it could be too late. Have DD's use 2hrs at 50% of Ultima's health, split 2hr abilitys between DD's. When the first DD 2hrs someone else pop a CCB pump, when that person is done with 2hr the previous DD pop another CCB. 2 CCB pumps should be more then enough to finish off Ultima from 50% to "dead" without any special moves going off. If you have to wipe just wipe near far end of ship where you zoned in. You can safely RR there and work down the last of Ultima's HP until he's dead.

We also had a similar setup and it worked great: NIN/WAR SAM/WAR BLU/NIN RNG/NIN BST/NIN and WHM/BLM. I can only tell you the meds I took since I don't remember what the others had: As WHM I took 8 yag drinks and 10 hi-ethers, of which I used 5 drinks and 5 ethers. Also, it helped to go at night so our NIN had a big evasion boost with his AF pants.

Mammets: We started by every melee grabbing one mammet and spreading them out around the walls to minimize AoE attacks. The WHM (me) was in the middle tossing cures and hasting where needed. Once someone defeated their mammet, they were to help the RNG with his first. We then systematically killed off the mammets by hitting them with yellow liquid when in polearm mode, and the stronger jobs helping the less defense jobs out until all were dead.

Omega: NIN ran in and sight aggroed first so Omega's initial AoE attack only hit him. He then provoked and ran Omega back to the spot where we spawned at and WHM and RNG ran to opposite side of the ship to stay out of range of attacks, being careful not to stand behind it where we would get hit by rear laser attack. All melee stayed at the sides to avoid rear attacks and frontal cones. WHM pretty much only had to focus on NIN for cures and buffs. Only occasional cures to the SAM who pulled hate some. BLU would help with cures, and head butted on all big attacks. Ninjitsu debuffs stuck very well throughout the battle, and BLU slow stuck as well. Used CCB at 50% and again at 25%. No 2 hrs. needed on Omega. WHM's remember to keep Dia on Omega at all times to get him down fast enough to where the CCB pretty much sticks on him from 50% down to 0.

Ultima: Easy fight. Same strategy as Omega with sight aggro and positioning of party. RNG pulled some hate on this one with his sidwinder/barrage/sidewinder, but I just moved away when Ultima turned our way. NIN pulled hate right back with no problems due to the hate he built with Ninjitsu. Since we still had 4 CCBs left, this made Ultima a weakling. Used first one at 70%, then 50%, then 25%, and finally 10%. Keeping Dia up on him constantly, he pretty much laid down to die. RNG 2 hr'd at 10%, but wasn't necessary. BLU kept head butt spamming all tp moves, and back up cures if needed. SAM never got to 2 hr at all, and our NIN (who is slightly crazy) blew up at 3%, and almost took him down. Finished it off immediately after NIN Mijin Gakured. Clear time of 21 min. 34 sec. Good job to Majin(NIN), Manwe(BLU), Swag(RNG), Alcatraz(SAM), and Hellion(BST) on Midgardsormr server. My experience

I did 6-4 with the following setup: NIN/WAR DRK/NIN RNG/NIN RDM/WHM WHM/SMN and BLM/WHM. We had the NIN super-tank the mammets while we pulled one off at a time and made short work of them. We did not make use of Yellow Liquid at all.

Omega was more of the same. NIN tanked, losing hate only to the DRK doing massive damage with a Scythe. RNG and DRK really shine in this BC, as they can get TP quickly, and their weapon skills do a LOT of damage. Omega went down with us using only a single CCB Polymer. I was the BLM, and suffered the only death, during Omega. We came out of the cutscene to Ultima with 28 minutes left. I rested for a while, and they went ahead and started on Ultima.

We set up a quick CCB order, but mostly, it was pay close attention around 50% HP and if he starts spamming abilities, to hit him with a pump. RNG and DRK kept doing their massive damage. Our WHM was popping Mulsums for instant MP when she didn't have to cure, and obviously had refresh from SMN sub and the RDM. I nuked when I unweakened, and basically everyone just did whatever damage they could. The RNG EESed on Ultima, and the DRK popped Blood Weapon. I THINK the RDM may have Chainspelled for fun, but ultimately, Ultima went down fast.

We went 1/1 on it. If you are able to grab that setup, do it. It seems to be very very solid, as they are high damage jobs that get TP quickly, which seem to be key. I'm sure as a BLM I could have been rotated out for something else, but I did my best to keep up with damage too. A lot of places seem to set certain times for when you should finish each fight, but really, if you worry too much about time, you're going to lose focus. The game gives you indicators between each fight about your time, so use those and your best judgement. We cleared the fight in just a little over 30 minutes (like some amount of seconds).

The only thing I'll suggest is MACRO MACRO MACRO. Do everything with macros. If you are a mage and need yag drinks or ethers, use macros to pop them off so you don't have to muck through your inventory. You're going to be nervous and excited, and probably on auto-pilot, so macros will keep you from searching. If you are using CCBs (and you damn well better be), macro those. Macro spells, macro weapon skills, EVERYTHING. Don't be afraid to wipe, if you haven't blown through a bunch of expensive meds (CCBs specifically) it may be best to just start over instead of trying to recover. The reward you get from completing this mission is far greater than worrying about a bit of EXP loss.

Just don't think its impossible. I held off on this mission for a long time for that very reason, until I joined a pickup party and we knocked it off and got to sea in the same night. Square isn't completely sadistic, there are multiple setups that work here, just consider what jobs are high damage and what jobs are just going to add dead weight that take up possible DD slots. I'm not calling BRD out here (as I know a lot of successful runs include BRDs), but we swapped an RDM and found that they were far better suited to our needs. I'd rather keep everyone alive than have them hit a bit harder. Try your best, you've made it this far, you'll get through it.

Three Questions

1. How well do Ni nukes work post-blm nerf in this fight? Some fights NIN/RDM=130-150/nuke (2x Crimson swords=no gearblink) others are under 20/nuke. Was thinking maybe I go NIN/RDM for DD and emergency/backup tank if Ni damage stays high.

2. Would dual tank work? or too much Cone damage (or built up Ni nuke resistance) to be practical.

3. I have NIN (/war or /mage setup) PLD WAR RDM at 60+ and DRG57 BLM58 as my job options, at least 3 in the static have a tank job available if need be. Any of these significantly better or worse then the rest on this mission?

-- Redaru-Diabolos server May 19, 2007

If Dual Tanking, a PLD/NIN and NIN/WAR combo is pretty good. Have the NIN/WAR main tank while the PLD/NIN DD/backup healer. If hate is lost or so, PLD/NIN can try to take over. Flash helps a lot too, especially when Omega goes crazy at 25% health(Same with Sentinel). I am not sure about Ni nuking though. Petco 23:15, 9 August 2007 (CDT)
Also, I like to add that two NIN also works. In fact, one thing about 6-4 is that "Slow, steady, and safe" is better than "Quick and chaotic". In other words, if you have at least 2-3 DDs(This includes NIN), you're basically fine.
Generally, the only reason people run out of time during that BCNM fight is because they wiped out once or twice. So if you can go the slow and safe way, without dying, then the fight is pretty easy. Petco 10:19, 25 August 2007 (CDT)

Ended up going nin/war, bard, healer, 2 DD, and myself (nin/rdm or nin/war, I was DD/secondary tank). Smooth fights overall, LS did several runs. My gear was mainly +Int except Body (SH+1). Food was sushi (for crimson blade or katana melee). For those curious, the Ni nukes were huge on the Mammets, triple digit damage. I had to slow down my nuking during Omega, even nuking as /war (without voking) I stole hate quite often from the nin/war primary tank. Ultima resists Ni nukes much more and if you got sushi+ melee gear+ Bard, melee with Vorpal/Jin WS does about the same damage but less hate. I wish I had specific numbers, but I'm PS2 and my fight was a ways back. -- Redaru-Diabolos server Septemeber 9, 2007

My experiences with this fight

Winning run setup: Pld/War Drk/Nin Sam/Blu(lack of nin subjob) Smn/Whm Whm/Smn Brd/Whm

Mammets were handled fairly easily using the "supertank" method, where the Paladin runs in and obtains early aggro (using 2x Bat Earring and Blinding Potions), and then the mages can cure him without fear of pulling hate. I as the Drk/Nin pulled Mammets one-by-one with Poison (due to low MP cost), and the only upkeep necessary was a handful of Cures from the Bard. This stage of the fight was incredibly simple, as normal hits with a Vassago's Scythe and full Scythe merits were averaging around 225 and Guillotine about 1250+. Since full HP/MP is restored between each battle assuming you don't wipe, I used Souleater during the latter stages of this first battle, taxing the mage's MP but saving time overall.

Yellow Liquids are very optional as far as I'm concerned.

We buffed midbattle to save time; from entering the battlefield, we used Reraise and food, then immediately triggered the Mammet stage of the fight. The Paladin cast Protect on himself and the White Mage Protectra'd us mid battle, saving time in the long run. Highly recommend you watch the beginning cutscene, leave the battlefield but without leaving Sealion's Den, so you save about four minutes of opening cutscene time.

We did not rest in between the Mammet and Omega, opting instead to immediately trigger the next fight. This is perhaps not optimal, but we were concerned about time in case we wiped (which we did in the end!). Buffing slightly when Omega was in front of us, everyone split themselves from the Paladin so when the Paladin took aggro, only he got hit by the AoE (it was Ion Efflux -- lucky!). The Paladin then dragged it to one of the far corners and made it face outwards; melees positioned themselves on the outside of Omega, to the side, and mages were far to the south. This was so mages and Paladin could receive Ballad and melees could receive March/Minuet.

One thing about Omega is that he seems to "choose" a certain AoE attack to use a lot. If this is Guided Missile, it can essentially be an instant-loss scenario. Whenever he did choose to use an AoE, it would be absorbed by Utsusemi, and I would run away to recast in case I got hit by a subsequent Guided Missile: this is necessary for the economy of the White Mage's MP, and to ensure they don't pull too much hate. At 40% HP, we used our first CCB Polymer Pump, and Elegy was proving a godsend with the Omega's increasing attack speed. The battle was going incredibly smoothly, and the White Mage's HP was still high. At 20%, a second CCB Polymer Pump was used and I used a Souleater Guillotine for approximately 900 damage. The Summoner then used Astral Flow, leaving it at 1% HP. We then finished killing it, resulting in an Omega victory without any deaths.

Omega's defences are high. Average hit with meritted Vassago's Scythe was about 70-90 and Guillotine tended to hit around 450-600. I kept up a cycle of Absorb-VIT/Absorb-AGI/Bio II throughout the fight, with Drains, Absorb-TPs and Stuns thrown in as necessary. He is not that resistant to these.

The Ultima fight begins very quickly; the Summoner STILL HAS ASTRAL FLOW! Paladin runs to aggro it separate from the main group as mentioned before, and Summoner opens with Astral Flow for 9% of Ultima's health. After the avatar dies, Paladin grabs hate, and at this stage it's like beginning the main battle but with an 80% HP Ultima. Very powerful. He begins to use Nuclear Waste at about 70% HP, which is dangerous because I then accidently pull hate and get Hydrojet'd twice in a row! There would've been a death there if it wasn't for the White Mage's prompt action, so I would advise all melees to be extra careful in this phase: Utsusemi does NOT block its elemental attacks. It ignores the Copy Images (doesn't get rid of them).

First CCB Polymer Pump was used at 50% HP, and a "Souleater Blood Weapon zerg" was used at about 45% HP, along with Bard's Soul Voice with Elegy and then 2x March. Since I was Drk/nin, I could only achieve about 43.3% Haste through this method, so the 2hr ended up dealing about 1,750 damage, which was slightly disappointing. Particle Shield also wrecks zerg attempts. Unfortunately at 36% or so HP, it uses the horrible Equalizer. Equalizer is obscenely strong. If it gets through, expect it to utterly destroy you: it oneshotted both of our melees and almost oneshotted our tank. It then prepares a second Equalizer, killing the Bard and the tank. The Summoner puts up a brave last stand, bringing it to 30% HP, before being melee'd to death. The White Mage panics and dies on the wrong side of the deck (we fought near where we started in case Equalizer got through!). After it returned to its initial position, five of us reraised and started healing.

Two points here;

1) DO NOT RERAISE IF YOU WILL GET AGGRO. You will get "alliance hate" and he'll happily float over and kill all of the other people in your party. Stay dead if there is any doubt!

2) Have someone who is keeping track of how much more time you have. We had 21 minutes left on the clock, so I knew it was safe to rest and recover, and it stopped us panicking.

Our morale was a bit low since we had no white mage, but we were determined to win this. We healed to full, Summoner prepared to play as main healer. We separated from the Paladin again so only he would get hit by initial AoE, which was Equalizer! My heart dropped in my chest, but thankfully it missed, and the WHM reraised after initial AoE. CCB Polymer Pump was used, and then we executed final plans. Samurai used Meikyo Shusui and I used Icarus Wing + Souleater Last Resort Guillotine, which in total wiped about 20% of its HP. It was left on 10% HP. The last pump was used and we frantically began to zerg it. It had begun to use Antimatter in this stage, but to be honest, it's less dangerous than Equalizer. I used Stun and Weapon Bash to lock it, as we finally began to bring it down. 4%... 1%... it hung at 1% for what seemed like years, but finally went down.

I cannot guess at Ultima's defences because I was too focussed on the battle itself to notice most individual damage numbers, but I am fairly sure its defence is lower than Omega's.

To summarise, I'd say definitely keep reraise up, and don't panic if you wipe! It is very possible to come back from what looks like a grave defeat. Good luck! --Raen Ryong 08:58, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Total Time Taken: 34 mins

Don't Panic!

Finally beat this mission tonight with linkshell static, setup was:

  • RDM/WHM, RDM/WHM, SMN/WHM, NIN/WAR, DRG/NIN, RNG/NIN

We cleared Mammets and Omega with approximately 21 minutes left, Eagle Eye Shot used, and three remaining CCB pumps. We set to work on Ultima, used the pumps around 40%, DRG used Spirit Surge to reduce DEF and we unloaded the damage, things seemed smooth... Until at 14%, our NIN bit the dust. We ran about trying out best to keep damaging it, but the last of us fell with Ultima at 4% health and a paltry 3 minutes left on the timer.

However, we kept our wits about us. The RDMs and SMN raised and began healing. With a minute left, the RNG was raised manually by a RDM. We gave it our best last shot despite being weakened: Ranger unloaded a Barrage, Red Mages used Chainspell and let out some Tier II nukes, and Summoner sent Leviathan after Ultima.

And in the end, it payed off. Battle field clear time: 44 minutes, 44 seconds.

So the moral of the story? Keep your wits about you, and give it your best shot, even if the odds seem stacked against you. -- Parvus (Gilgamesh) 03:36, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

Just Saying

Hardest mission I have ever had to do in ffxi hands down...0/15 on this mission and we had a good setup using NIN/WAR, DRG/NIN, BLU/NIN, RDM/WHM, SMN/WHM, and BRD/WHM ... Omega destroyed us every time. I think after that many runs we discovered it was because we were feeding Omega too much TP but who cares - this mission is WAY too annoying. Have to rewatch silly cut-scenes over and over again and they are also counted in the timer!!! I mean come on SE that is just the most obnoxious thing ever! To get to unlocked content .. it just pisses me off - nuff said --Jubano 22:06, 4 December 2008 (UTC)

Working Method

Just did this fight, was a very difficult fight, we ended up doing 3 dry runs before we did our CCB run. We went with NIN/WAR, SAM/NIN, DRK/NIN, WHM/BLM, RDM/BLM, BRD/WHM. We brought 6 CCB pumps and used all 6 of them, we started using @ omega with about 30%HP and then we used the last 3 on Ultima when he was at 40%HP. We had the NIN go in on the mammets and aggro all of them and run into a corner(It is important to use 2xmamba on all melee during this ENTIRE fight, we tried differant songs in our dry runs and nothing worked as good as mambax2) while the SAM and DRK killed them one at a time. Omega and Ultima we did the same way, we just had mambax2 on all melee, the SAM and DRK would run a lil away when shadows were down to recast, and NIN straight tanked. Having good erase macro's and paralyna macros is a nother big key in winning this battle. BRD did Soul Voice on Ultima with about 45%HP left. all Melee 2hour on Ultima @ 35%. We won on our 4th run (First run using the CCB's), got a clear time of 33minutes 29 seconds. --Kryppie 04:56, 21 January 2009 (UTC)

Did this last night and won with NIN, RNG, THF, BLU, BRD, RDM. The BLU really helps to stun TP moves on Omega and Ultima, really reduces the amount of curing by the RDM. We used 4-5 CCB Polymer Pumps, only used two on Omega. --Lobe

lol dont buy a jack o lantern. sure it got arcana killer but the -10 chr kills any chance of it going off.

Since June 2010 Patch

  • Duo'd this with WHM/SCH and MNK/NIN. Wouldn't recommend it though! --Talraen 01:40, July 11, 2010 (UTC)
  • Nearly soloable by a skilled SAM76/DNC38:

SAM was able to solo all 5 Mammets without help, and the first 80% of Omega as well, until he started spamming Pile Pitch and drove the SAM's HP down to 10%. PLD75/RDM37 and RDM80/BLM40 only stepped in to cure and help with the last 20%.

Ultima was more a problem with the Chemical Bomb move, causing a heavy, annoying slow. SAM began to struggle, so PLD and RDM rushed in to help. SAM eventually died to Equalizer and Antimatter in succession for ~600HP each, and PLD died to 2x Antimatter, so RDM Chainspell nuked the rest of the remaining 2000 HP until dead. :) --Ragnarok.Anye(XAnyex 09:02, July 11, 2010 (UTC))

  • Soloable with difficulty by a BST80/DNC40 using Lucky Lulush.I had nearly 20 hi-pots a deadalus wing, and a CCB Polymer available as I wasnt sure how this would go. Mammets were easy. Lulush tore them apart. All I had to do was make sure they didnt gang up on me, as that woulda hurt. Omega was considerably tougher, start of battle I immediately learned that a Beastmaster pet does NOT lose TP between battles. Opened with Foot Kick for 700, then routine Curing Waltz II, Snarl, Reward to whittle him down. I used Wild Carrot more than anything else to try and preserve Lulush, unfortunately he dropped at about 50% HP and I had to resummon. When Omega got low, I let my pet store TP for next fight. Ultima was fun to say the least. Opened with Foot Kick for a lucky 900, Wing -> Rampage -> Snarl for about the same. Curing Waltz, Reward Spam, even got a few Rampage -> Snarls in. In spite of the good start, the paralyze effect was nasty and Lulush started having trouble keeping hate at about 60% HP. He dropped at 50% HP with me not doing so well. Resummoned, Snarl, CCB Polymer, and ran away to avoid damage for a sec. When Snarl was up again I ran back into battle, spamming my hipotions, another Rampage -> Snarl and my new Lulush had hate. The rest of the battle was a fairly tense reward spam and rampage -> Snarl, using my hipotions as my primary source of healing. Finished him with a Rampage and Foot kick, and less than 30 seconds to spare. Fun times, fun times indeed.
  • Completed fairly easy as SAM80/DNC40, PLD80/DNC40, DRG79/NIN39, WHM77/BLM38. DRG and WHM were dualboxed by the same person. Mammets were no problem at all, though they would've gone down faster if they hadn't kept using Transmogrification to absorb melee. Omega wasn't too bad until he got low on health, at which point his fast attacks and Pile Pitch hate reset got the DRG killed. We still finished him off with more than 30 minutes left, so after raising him and waiting of weakness, we went on to Ultima, who was a lot easier. No meds or CCB Polymers were used, and the only 2-hour used was Meikyo Shisui, though that was just to speed things up, not out of necessity. --Kyrie 20:04, July 19, 2010 (UTC)
  • Fairly easy solo as BST80/WHM40 using Lucky Lulush. Had Persikos AuLait some Yagudos and brought Hi-Pots and CCB Pump although I didn't use either the Hi-Pots or the CCB. Mammets were simple - one Lucky and no Zetas. With Stoneskin up, got hit for just a few dmg. Omega was straightforward - if you're going to use a CCB Pump I would use it here since Pile Drive did up to 3000dmg on Lucky. Not fun. I spammed Reward and used two Lucky's on Omega with the 2nd one @ just a couple percent after a couple of Pile Drives. Your first Lucky should get Omega to 30-35%, after you call your 2nd Lucky, I would use the CCB immediately and try and get as much dmg as you can in before it wears. Ultima was cake. I only used one Lucky on him although I did use an Icarus Wing and my Zoolater. Lucky ended fight at 30% I think. Super fight! --Quesse 16:42, Aug 8th, 2010 (EST)

  • Dou'd as 76 RDM/WHM and 75 MNK/NIN (Ehrgiez) (MNK was very well geared and lots of merits. I hung back as RDM out of range for duration of fight. Mammets were handled easily by MNK while I silenced them as they morphed into mage jobs. Omega was easy until his HP got low, then he hit hard and often, but nothing that a few timed Cure IVs cant handle. For the last fight we took Ultima down to about 50% before using the Polymer Pump item on him, this helped considerably, as MNK popped Hundred Fists right after. This combo was great to finish things off. The biggest problem we had was he got hit with 3 Pile Pitches taking him down to 10% health everytime. Also, I kept Para, Slow and Blind on Omega and Ultima the whole time without any resists and dispeled Partical Shield (defence boost) on Ultima ASAP. -Stebo- (Sylph Server-Sept. 17, 2010)

Since September 2010 Patch

  • Solo'd as BST95/WHM47. 4/5 Beast Affinity. Used NurseryNazuna. For each fight, I simply sent Nazuna in and basically went AFK. No yellow liquid, no polymer pump, no pet food. Used a single Nazuna.
  • Easy solo as BST81/DNC40. Used Nursery Nazuna and prepared a decent Reward setup with Pet Food Zeta (healed for around 1350 a pop). General strategy was just build up TP, use Drain Samba II, fire off Box Steps for lowered defense, throw in a Rampage and Snarl every so often when I could, use Reverse Flourish if low on TP. Mammets were not a problem; pet solo'd them all without needing Reward. Omega was the hardest part, but still fairly straightforward. Your biggest danger is Pile Pitch, which is 95% damage and hate reset. Be ready to Call Beast and Snarl again if necessary, and for all that is good and holy try not to get hit by it yourself. Ultima was actually easier than Omega but Equalizer is a pretty strong AoE so have some TP for that. Antimatter will do lots of damage to your pet but by that point the fight is almost over! Have fun with this one, you'll feel like a badass after it's done. DizzyBum 03:15, September 19, 2010 (UTC)
  • Fun fight as 90pup/nin. For all three battles I kept Valor Edge tanking everything and keeping 1 dark maneuver up to spam cannibal blade. I got damaged a few times and needed some cures, so i just used role reversal to get back up to full and repaired my auto. I never had to activate a new automaton the entire time and I didn't even have to spam repairs. Just be cautious of enmity, if you do manage to take hate (as is likely against omega, who paralyzes and stops ur pet from doing anything sometimes)use ventriloque to get hate back on your pup as soon as your auto starts attacking and have it provoke. --Hakrev 11:38, February 12, 2011 (UTC)
  • Extremely easy solo as BST90/DNC45. I overprepared and brought two Dawn Mulsums, a CCB Polymer, a stack and a half of Pet Food Zetas, two evasion axes for melee attacks, and a stack of NurseryNazunas. The Mammets were easy but the longest fight of the three. Any TP went straight to healing -ga spells which didn't really hit for that much. Sent in Nazuna, axed down whatever she was attacking, over fairly quickly. For Omega, I saved all my TP for Waltzes to heal the AoE attacks. Once it was at 25% exactly I used my CCB Polymer, then used Lamb Chop and Rampage and killed him before the polymer was up. Next was Ultima which was cake. No pet food or dawn mulsums were needed, and only one Nazuna was used the entire fight. Ridiculously easy. --Kyubey from Odin 16:07, July 13, 2011 (UTC)
  • Attempted solo as fresh 90NIN/45DNC, mammets were slow but very easy. Omega was surprisingly easy just gotta be ready for the Pile Pitch spam. Myoshu (enhanced subtle blow) seemed to make a noticeable difference to how often he used abilities and he went down pretty quickly without a death. Ultima gave me a lot of trouble. He kept using the worst abilities, namely the flame thrower and the petrify one, he didnt even use the other elemental attacks, pretty lame. Didnt go in as medicated to the teeth as I could have but based on what I saw Omega looked like it would be the hardest of the fights so I thought Id be ok. The plague was the worst of it, especially after reraising with no tp. He opened with plague then petrify right when I rezd, only got off about 10% hp before I died that time, ran out of time while waiting for weakness. Things I need to bring next time is an icarus wing, tinctures and a polymer pump for when he gets <25% It will make a major difference. This would have been a VERY easy duo with another nin, rdm, or really anyone else that can either heal or deal good dmg. As well as to save time with the mammet's since they just took a while. Will be attempting again after I gather more supplies. --LiennaOfShiva 19:53, September 3, 2011 (UTC)
  • Soloed with difficulty as a skilled SAM90/DNC with capped Evasion, standard attacks barely ever hit me (I wouldn't recommend repeating this though):

Mammets were a complete joke, kept Haste Samba up and used Curing Waltz III any time my health went yellow, just burning them down with skillchains and single weaponskills, watching out for Transmogrification.

Omega was much tougher, I let all my timers reset between all fights, burning Omega down in the same way as the Mammets, and when Omega hit around 25% HP I skillchained, bringing Omega down to around 5% HP. Then it started spamming Pile Pitch, whereas I started spamming Curing Waltz III until my auto attacks defeated him.

Ultima was much simpler than Omega at first, I didn't weaponskill or use any offensive Job Abilities until Omega was around 70% HP, at which point I burned it down with skillchains until it was below 40%, then just auto attacked it until it was around 25%, popped the CCB polymer and skillchained it then 2 houred to ensure it died before the polymer ran out -- Roegnir of Asura - 11:00, July 24, 2011 (UTC)

Laughably easy 95RDM/WHM and a less-than-pimped 95MNK/NIN (no offense if you see this :D).
