I've been trying for a few weeks now to pull one of these up but I've never hooked one yet. I get lots of Gigant Octopus but not a single Matsya. Tried all different kinds of bait and lures but still get nothing. Anyone know which bait works best for these? Just trying to get some skill up during my trumpet shell farming days haha thx --Bekisa 20:13, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
- Grand-Blue Fishing Database has them as biting Dwarf Pugils and Drill Calamaryhere. I usually trust them as they are fairly up-to-date and accurate, as fishing DBs go. --Ctownwoody 15:53, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
- Crazily enough, one of these just bit on a Robber Rig. That thing RARELY hooks fish, let alone legendaries. I got the "epic catch" message which is the only way I know. Let it go right away, as I'm using Lu Shang's. --Calliste-Siren 13:45, October 14, 2011 (UTC)
- If you let it go right away, chances are what you had was a gigant octopus (which also gives the epic catch message) and not a Matsya. Maletarugilgamesh 16:25, October 16, 2011 (UTC)
Bite Rate/Line Break Rate
I spent about 2-3 hours at (J-7) Fishing skill:89 +4(gear) + adv. support
Started with 104 Dwarf Pugils, I reeled in items to keep from losing bait. I used an Albatross ring.
297 Total lines cast
34 Cobalt Jellyfish 24 Monsters
35 Matsya bites (11.8%)
28/35 Matsya "line breaks"
7/35 Matsya caught (6.7% of the number of Dwarf Pugils I started with)
0/7 Shapers Shawl
These aren't very fun to fish... Took about 4-5 days to accumulate all the dwarf pugils, only to see them largely go to waste. hope they break the line a lot less often with fishing skill closer to 110...
