Could someone confirm the duration and effect of this spell? For 29MP, I have trouble believing it'll be equivalent to the Ahriman version. Additionally, I believe the Ahriman version also boosts its resistance rate to debuffs. Would be nice to know if this spell did that as well. --Eremes 17:26, September 9, 2010 (UTC)
If it gives a Magic Shield effect, then while it's up all spells targetted on you are fully resisted, if I recall correctly. I hated when Ahriman would throw this up. Low MP cost probably just means it doesn't last very long, or it'll have a long recast. --◄Chrisjander► t/ c 17:33, September 9, 2010 (UTC)
Appears to be similar to stoneskin, except only for magic damage. Is overwritten by but does not overwrite diamondhide.
So would that make this spell simply like Rampart? It's a shame that you can't stack Stoneskin with it... Unless the cap is considerably higher, wouldn't it simply make more sense to cast Stoneskin? :\ Or can you still stack Stoneskin somehow? --Eremes 22:57, September 9, 2010 (UTC)

Too good to be true[]
Straight answer please: Does it grant Magic Shield (100% immunity to magic) or not?--Blue Donkey Kong 23:54, September 10, 2010 (UTC)
It's supposedly equivalent the PLD Job Ability Rampart without the DEF Increase to Party Members. Thus, it's kind of like Stoneskin for Magic Damage. As far as I know, it does not grant immunities to Magic-Induced Status Effects like the Ahriman version. :( --Eremes 00:10, September 11, 2010 (UTC)
Magic Barrier Formula[]
Tested in Ballista with a BLU/BLM using ES 1000 Needles. The formula is 250 + your current blue magic skill (so if your skill is 300, your Magic Barrier absorbs 550 damage).
Edit: Whoops, it turns out 1000 Needles is nerfed in Ballista to 750 damage, so there is no base 250, it's just your skill. I'm going to note that on the 1000 Needles page. --Janeth 04:11, September 18, 2010 (UTC)
Small test and seems accurate one[]
I did test in Ballista, me and my friend both BLU, I had blu magic skill 440 and i asked my friend to do 1000 needle (750 damage) the Magic barrier absorbed 440 it deal me only 310 damage. then next time i had some gears with "BLU magic skill up" raised it to 488 and i asked my friend to do 1000 needle again and the Magic barrier absorbed 488 damage.
all in all, i noticed Magic Barrier will absorb magic damage equal exactly to your blu magic skill. 1:1. but i don't know what is the maximum number. --Shaduf (talk) 05:49, September 26, 2014 (UTC)
Uleguerand Range[]
First attempted to get these from Scowlenkos in Uleguerand Range but they never seemed to use it. 40 TP moves off 20 different Scowlenkos with not one use of Magic Barrier. Could be really bad luck but Doom Lens in Castle Zvahl Keep (S) used within 5 moves and learned off the first usage. Added Doom Lens to list. DangerMouse1001 (talk) 21:42, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
