About stock of items
I've been wondering, how does the Guild Merchant keep stock? Are they dependant on other players to restock them, or do they simply create a set amount of materials every day? The reason I'm asking is I'm doing woodworking and it always seems like the stock of Ash Lumber disappear before I'm even able to speak to the NPC... and I've camped it for several days!
Guild Metchants keep stock in two ways. Every new day they create a set amount of new items of each type they usually stock. This stocking is cumulative, meaning, if they made 3 of X everyday, and started yesterday day with 0, and sold 2 after stocking, today they will have 4. Additionally, they will sell any items sold to them by players.
The price of the item is also dependent upon the demand for it. If the item sells out everyday, the price they charge will go up until the maximum. If it doesn't sell at all for days, the price will drop to the minimum.
Finally, the guild will only stock a certain amount. It will never have more than some fixed amount of each item available. If you try to sell more of an item to the guild than they will stock, it just won't let you sell it anymore.
So to answer your Ash Lumber question, it is most likely stocked everyday, but someone else camps the guild and buys it before you can. --Syeria 11:39, 7 May 2006 (PDT)
