Other Chests[]
If anyone like me was curious about it and couldn't find information, here goes: Keys do not have any function outside Abyssea-related zones. Tested on a brown casket in Zi'Tah, no log message or effect in any way and the key wasn't used up. I'd assume the same is true for coffers and chests in dungeons, but actually testing it felt silly.
