Flowerpot Merle seems to stay out a very long time. About 3 hours I think. Did not time it exactly though. Perrico 23:02, July 26, 2010 (UTC)

Seems unfair that the lower level mandy pets have Dream Flower but this does not. Also, photosynthesis would be a nice addition. All that being said, this little guy is actually a very useful jug pet. Did the Sagelord Elimination Assault with this guy locked on the Sagelord. 2 jugs did him in (the 1st getting killed by links during the 2nd Flee) and he never made it back to his camping spot. I believe movement on this jug is enhanced as he was almost keeping pace with the Sagelord. Coupled with his low cost (I get Humus jugs for free from friends doing Abyssea Tahrongi on Mandys and make my own jugs) and this is rapidly becoming one of my favorite farming pets.--Deadmeataru 16:59, September 27, 2010 (UTC)

Level cap?[]

Unfortunately, my little walking onion-headed buddy appears to be peaking, somewhere 80-85 it seems. Can anyone confirm? this guy was so cheap and fun to play with I'd hate to lose him--Deadmeataru 16:49, March 1, 2011 (UTC)

Did some testing on max HP for this pet and determined that he is currently uncapped at level 90 (also, he got Max HP Boost V at level 86 as you'd expect a MNK to get!) so the Merle page was updated accordingly. http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/forum.html?fjob=8&mid=1298635397162868956&page=1&howmany=50#msg1299226759151136583 --Falkirk 07:36, March 5, 2011 (UTC)

Stats, traits, & parsing[]

Below is some recent parse data from some testing in West Saruta on low level mobs:

Damage Summary Player Total Dmg Damage % Melee Dmg Range Dmg Abil. Dmg WSkill Dmg Spell Dmg Other Dmg FlowerpotMerle 53650 100.00 % 50754 0 2896 0 0 0 Total 53650 100.00 % 50754 0 2896 0 0 0

Melee Damage Player Melee Dmg Melee % Hit/Miss M.Acc % M.Low/Hi M.Avg #Crit C.Low/Hi C.Avg Crit% FlowerpotMerle 50754 94.60 % 192/14 93.20 % 201/273 264.43 44 256/271 264.07 22.92 %

Ability Damage Player Abil. Dmg Abil. % Hit/Miss A.Acc % A.Low/Hi A.Avg FlowerpotMerle 2896 5.40 % 15/0 100.00 % 69/347 193.07

- Wild Oats 2896 100.00 % 15/0 100.00 % 69/347 193.07

As expected of a mnk, instead of a war type, I do not see fencer or crit attack bonus represented in these numbers. capped acc was around 20% and the hi for crits was no higher than melee, although the low seemed quite different.

Also, I verified that merle gets 4.8 tp/hit. I'll tear thru more of the parse to check for other traits. --Levitikus 06:56, April 19, 2011 (UTC)

Ready Moves[]

Testing Wild Oats showed 3 distinct damage ranges: the first was ~70 damage, the next was ~280 (aprox. 4x) the last was 542 (~8x original), which I believe was a crit hit. I never saw more than ~4% tp return from wild oats, which inclines me to believe its a single hit. I think further testing is still needed. only have a sample of 16 ready moves, and i'm not certain about tp return. --Levitikus 06:59, April 19, 2011 (UTC)

Auto-Regen[]

Removed verification tag. Let Merle tank a bunch of mobs, kill them and then sat there spamming <pethpp> and watched him climb slowly back up to 100%. Of interesting note is the fact that Nursery Nazuna seems to have some sort of Auto-Regen as well as I've watched her HP return to 100%.Mortechai 08:40, June 12, 2011 (UTC)

Don't pets naturally recover HP when not engaged? Or were they still fighting while their HP was going up? Yatsuhiko 11:01, November 17, 2011 (UTC)

@Yatsuhiko - Pets usually only regen when either A) They are put on Stay B) The additional effect of using a pet food biscuit is present or C) The master has a Regen atma equipped while in Abyssea. In my case, none of these effects were present. Mortechai 00:05, March 30, 2012 (UTC)

Strong Pet[]

Only thing keeping this pet from being the universal pet of choice is a strong TP move IMO. He has all kinds of useful tricks for soloing large NM's. Definately one of my favorites.

Doom Immunity?[]

When I was fighting Adze I had Merle out so I figured I'd just pull with her and switch to a different pet when she died because of vermin topping plantoids. She got doomed so I was waiting for her to die to call another pet, but she never did. For that matter she kept getting doomed. Like, 5 times in a row. I don't recall this happening with any other pets when I've fought it. Any thought? Yatsuhiko 10:58, November 17, 2011 (UTC)
