Today I fought this with my linkshell so I decided I'd do some changes to the page including uploading a pic and deleting some bullshit about this being a VNM and it being poped with an abbyssite. It's popped with key items gained from other smaller NMs. Also wrote about it's 2 modes, an easy and a hard one. Due to one of our paladins dying we didn't have enough time to kill it within our timeframe. Fight overall took probably 5-10 mins in easy mode and another 5 to get it down to 80%, adjusting to it's new mode. --Kytio 20:23, June 26, 2010 (UTC)

I am assuming key items are lost upon popping Carabosse? --Rienfliche 04:09, June 27, 2010 (UTC)

Yep. --Kytio 19:47, June 27, 2010 (UTC)

Well this sucks, this better drop at least 5 gems! Fighting this guy for a 50% chance for 1 gem each time is something SE would do. considering everyone would need 50 gems, this will be a HUGE pain in arss... Ezzi 02:21, June 28, 2010 (UTC)

Screenshot on BG shows a drop of 2 gems. BG link Krizz 16:52, June 28, 2010 (UTC)

They could have gotten lucky and got full drops and it's 0-2 like Tier 3 VNM's or they could have gotten unlucky and it's 1-5 or something, who knows :( more people need to kill this. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ezekius (talkcontribs).

Changed some of the info regarding the progression of the fight. Our first phase lasted until we took her down to 9% where she Bene'd 46k HP, leading me to believe she has ~50k HP. There is definitely a method to how she operates in terms of TP moves and her seasons in the second phase. Whether or not her job actually changes is up for debate, but I did notice her choice of attacks and spells absolutely changed depending on the season she used.

It also remains to be seen if she changes season based on her current HP. I wasn't paying total attention to that fact, but it seemed like every 25% she changed. She was at least in Autumn when under 50%, took her to 47%, nukes were healing her, and she started spamming cures up to 51% before I timed out. The information on her Winter Breeze isn't based on any observation I made, but is hearsay, so that part needs confirmation.--Mooffins 01:08, July 13, 2010 (UTC)

Question: Can the Twilight Scythe proc Death on her? Answer:

I dunno how it got Regain, but it is easily dispellable as well as Haste on BLM/RDM.

Nukes did about 200 each with me on BLM with Thunder IV in second phase and it does Mute (can't remove silence) and Silencega. It was a pretty tough fight. --Johnb1 03:06, August 9, 2010 (UTC)

Summer Breeze gives a Regain effect if the mob has nothing to Erase; that's prolly where she got it. --Kyrie 03:21, August 9, 2010 (UTC)

I don't believe it's true that she only achieves Regain when she has nothing to Erase from herself. I was RDM fighting this last night and I made sure she constantly had Dia II, Slow II, Saboteur Paralyze, Blind II and Addle. I would just throw a Dispel whenever she changed phase and it'd either take off a Regain or a Regen. -- Orubicon 08:57, November 8, 2010 (UTC)

Easy solo 99 BST/DNC using i112 pet and trusts. Pray that she uses Summer Breeze early as it is always when she pulls off the Benediction. Ayrlie (talk) 16:43, July 21, 2016 (UTC)

Easy solo 99 NIN/DNC Kannakiri +1/Kiji (Otronif Gearset w/ Iga Zukin +2) Had no difficulty at all fighting the NM, Carabosse Gems dropped 2 at a time each time out of 8 fights. Need help msg Soraishin on Bahamut. Sep 14, 2013

Easy solo 99 Aegis/Almace PLD/THF, MM/RR/Apoc atmas. Mix of PDT/MDT/haste/DD gear. Takes about 20 mins, but it's doable. Pretty easy to keep yourself alive. Only problem I ran into was that when she changes to WHM mode you basically don't make any progress until she switches to something else due to her cure spam. Either sub DNC for Healing Waltz (and sacrifice TH) or bring along a good supply of echo drops and/or remedies to take care of silence and paralysis. If you keep phalanx up her melee hits don't really do enough damage to be a threat if you get hit with breakga. --Sevynwarr 22:05, June 3, 2012 (UTC)

99PUP/49SCH SOLO. atma used RR MC DG also pup/nin using mage RR VV APOC much faster

Extremely easy solo as 95BST/anything and dipper (-30% pet pdt in gear 5/5 Beast Affinity) using RR GH MC atmas. I tend to /dnc and fight alongside my pet to speed up the kills, but I have also simply gone afk and allowed dipper to kill Cara for me. The regen from MC has been more than enough to keep my pet alive without the use of pet foods. If you're going to fight alongside your pet, I recommend stunning Aeroga III and Cyclonic Turmoil when you can, and when they hit you, to back off outside of 15 yalms until you regen your hp back up. Side note: both KI's are easily soloable as WAR/DNC in order to proc red so long as you stun the -gas. 12/6/11

Beaten by a group of SAM/NIN, BLU/NIN, BLM/RDM, SMN/WHM, RDM/WHM - all Lv.85. Mages stay up a level on the ledge, and the melée take her down onto the ramp leading to conflux #4. The fight itself is really easy until she uses Benediction and then you notice her resistances shoot up, as well as a damage reduction trait come into effect.

It's a battle of attrition, wearing her down and keeping all of the melée healed, Hasted, Erased and buffed. As RDM I successfully landed Slow II, Addle, Blind II, Paralyze and Poison II, though the poison from Disseverment helps more if the BLU can keep it on. Dispel her as she changes jobs and keep on top of things and the fight isn't too hard.

Never used Breakga in our battle, just Silencega and Slowga. Tachi: Koki triggered red !! and Vorpal Blade triggered blue !!. Dropped Atma of Allure, Glittering Pixie Choker, Ryoshi Hachimaki, Afflictors and two Carabosse's Gem. -- Orubicon 09:09, November 8, 2010 (UTC)

Easy duo at 90, by a THF/NIN and RDM/SCH. Only issues were warrior mode, and aeroga III, half the time she just missed him with everything. THF should have temp items ready incase aeroga III gets in, took him down to red, but fast recover. Darkovercast 04:15, January 8, 2011 (UTC)

Very easy duo as Pup/Nin+Rdm/Whm lv 90. Atma: Pup with Siren Shadow, Razed Ruins and Future Fabulous, Rdm with Allure, Impregnable tower and Minikin Monstrosity. Carabosse could never hit me and Paralyze 2 affected her badly interrupting many spells. Aeroga3 put me in orange HP, but she was never a threat for the whole fight. Fun and easy. Sehachan Phoenix Server. 13:25, March 6th, 2011 (GMT).

Soloed on BST90/WHM45. Dipperyully (high wind resistance and evasion). RR, Sanguine Scythe and Apocalypse. Took 49 minutes. Used less than a stack of pet food. Melee after Autumn Breeze is fine and helps counter the cure spam. Best to stand back during the other phases. All-in-all a slow yet comfortable battle. Romon 12:13, March 10, 2011 (UTC)

Duo BLU95/NIN and DNC95, was trying to fish up Nahn when one went unclaimed after a wipe. Kept Slow, Disseverment poison, and SZS Para on it the whole time, full eva set, was hardly hit by melee and easily put shadows back up. Took us a WHILE, probably 30 minutes because she kept curing herself and resisting my dispels(Blank Gaze, originally had spells set for Nahn, Geist Wall highly recommended) Atmas: RR, Gnarled Horn, MM --Killuka 11:49, November 7, 2011 (UTC)

Can solo her NIN/DNC at 95, but it's annoying and takes longish (20 mins with Kannagi). The only real risk of death is getting stunned without shadows, and hit by a Tornado II or Aero IV, and even then you can just reraise (I pop RR scroll at the NPC, then get another one for my inventory) and 2 hour to get rid of weakness. Hovering your finger on the Violent Flourish button when she's in WAR mode (to stun Cyclonic Torrent/Turmoil) is a good idea. MC, RR, GH atmas, and get all the healing temps from the NPC. Protip: Shout for someone to TH it for you, many people will join for just 50k. Haxan7 15:49, November 15, 2011 (UTC)

Fought this NM last night with LS, and it ended up using benediction twice in the same fight. We fought it down to about 10-15% during the first phase, and it bene'd. Then we fought it down to roughly the same % during phase 2, and it used benediction again. Either it was a glitch, or Carabosse can definitely use Benediction more than once per fight.

Someone was probably fighting another Carabosse near you and it's Bene can hit yours. --Bekisa 04:33, August 9, 2011 (UTC)

  • this is fun to do and really pisses people off.

Why do people keep editing out the drop rate on gems (and almost every other empy trial drop)? It's nice to see an approximate drop rate for stuff that is (1 is 100%, up to 2). Gives people an idea on how many times will actually have to farm her. --Zatias 16:36, August 15, 2011 (UTC)

Since it happened again, whatever lol.--Zatias 05:32, August 16, 2011 (UTC)

Fast win strategy

Carabosse is weak in her first form, seemingly lower hp/defense/everything. Second form? the Opposite. Solution? Proc red !! weakness on her when she is at 50% HP or lower (before she can bene) and Unload as much damage on her as possible. (May not always work, because she may Benediction too soon, but there's always this option) --Asagii53 17:16, August 15, 2011 (UTC)

BST95/WAR47 solo

Carbo is a fairly easy solo by a BST95 using Dipper and VV/RR/Stronghold atmas. I used a Guichard's +2 with -pdt of 10% and a -pdt Anwig Salade and +ATT Mirke Wardecors (other gear mostly AF3+1).

Dipper soloed the whole fight, except when Carbo used Autumn Breeze (when I joined to melee). Be careful if you choose to melee - Carbo uses stun and sleep, and one Aeroga III while sleeping hit me once for 1748 damage. Dipper has very high resist to wind magic, which makes this solo possible - I tried the fight once with Gerard and got clobbered.

Fight takes about 10 minutes to get to Benediction and 30 minutes more for the kill. I familiared Dipper right after Benediction when I could, and used Pet Poultices to keep regen up. Average fight took about 4 zetas with perhaps a healing salve I thrown in.

I generally did not proc yellow or blue. Even so, Carbo frequently dropped afflictors and teutates subligar. Averaged about 1.5 gems and 0.5 cards and 0 coins per fight over the 20+ solo fights I did this way.

As an aside - Baba Yaga and La Theine Liege are also both easy solos with Dipper. Only problem I had was that, as a BST95/WAR47, I had only 7 red procs (sword x2, staff x2, scythe, club, polearm) so I was only able to proc red 7/13 (54%) of the time. Fortunately, I received KIs from Baba and Liege about 1/3 of the time when I did not proc red. Biggest problem was when I did not get a Discernment hint, and I had to keep Baba and Liege alive long enough to try all procs. --Kmera 23:51, November 10, 2011 (UTC)

99 SMN/RDM solo

Its possible to solo this on 99 SMN/RDM using RR, MM, and DG atmas. Toss Garuda at the mob and use PC for damage, tossing on hastega, curing with BP ward wind, etc when needed. Its useful to be /RDM not only for dia II and refresh/convert, but because of dispel. Dispel is a godsend during this fight. You will use it after breeze moves like spring, autumn, etc. It esp likes to toss on enhancing spells during autumn. Happy hunting. o/

Solo 99 PUP/NIN

Easy fight take about lik 20 min using atma GH, Apoc and RR using pupet WHM skill caped strategie : Poping nm first hit him for got hate after got tyur pupet on him make in range for yur pupet 20° for yur pupet cant by hit with spell carabosse the fight is simply hit nm spam ws keep yur pupet full hp do light maneuvers keep always 2 maneuvers up when yu pupet is low mp desactivate and got yur pupet on again make at new range caned do more fast when 20 min but him usinng benediction 1 time drop 1 gem and 1 card of vayage

I used comet today it was earths day and healed her for almost 1500 health. just thought i'd add that. Latravant (talk) 16:32, March 3, 2013 (UTC)
