Server Losses (Details)[]

This is a more detailed table with all the information above. It's everything I have gathered up. I'm using this to determine the order servers lost their 1st besieged, who lost twice before the others, who lost first, second, fifth, etc to the Undead, etc. It's only for maintaining records, NOT for any bragging rights (every server has its strong points and weak points). My eventual aim is to have a Server Statistics section on each server page with information derived from this, the order Relic Weapons were obtained in/which ones a server obtained before other servers, etc, and the order the servers beat Twinkling Treant in. See its page for a table of the info I was able to gather up on it.

If your server lost in besieged, please post the date it has happened along with the army that won the AC. Any other notes (time it happened, lack of peeps, etc.) is helpful. When it comes to tiebreakers, the time of the day it happened will be the first tiebreaker.

* Remora [13] - 11/5/06 to Trolls (18:00-18:30 CST)
Data: LVL 6 trolls won despite 500+ people in Al Zahbi at the peak. Nearly 400 people were
 awaiting the trolls at the start. The trolls got a big assist with 3 generals already prisoner

 a certain attack from one of their notorious monster.

* Remora [14] - 11/15/06 to Undead Swarm (~13:00 CST)
Data: Undead at level 5. The trolls attacked a few hours before the besieged begin and took

Data: LVL 6 Trolls invaded 20 hours following last attack. 3 Generals present. After all Generals

 to grab the AC. 400 defenders present.

* Remora [16] - 1/14/07 to Mammol Ja (19:05 CST)
Data: Despite ~450 people (including nearly 350 at start) taking part, Mammol Jas got an minor assist
 from the earlier troll attack (1 general prisoner). Mega Boss did not show up, but their special
 forces wiped the other 4 generals within 10 minutes of each other. The AC was claimed less than
 2 minutes after the last general fell due to one of their NMs "Perfect Dodging" inside the Hall.
 The mammol jas were at level 6, and left with 11 prisoners (3 generals).
 -> AC recovered in less than 10 hours. All but 1 prisoner was recovered at time of recovery.

Data: Just under 400 people defended a Level 6 attack.

* Asura [18] - 1/18/07 to Mammol Ja (14:40 CST)

 server skills.

* Bahamut [3] - 1/29/07 to Undead Swarm (6:30 EST)
Data: Level 6 Undead Swarm attack. Less then 200 people were defending at start, and there were
only 2 generals. However, one of the mobs slipped into the Hall of Binding's inner chamber and
seized the Astral Candescence before players were able to get in.

* Fairy [16] - 1/30/07 to Undead Swarm
Data: The Undead won partly due to unexplained server problems that caused nearly all of Al Zahbi
 and the approximately 600 participants to d/c in the middle of Besieged.
-> NOT COUNTED.

* Fairy [17] - 1/31/07 to Troll Mercenaries
Data: Another massive D/C during Level 1 Besieged, causing Fairy to lose the Astral Candy for the
 second straight time in screwjob fashion. Several FFXI forums mentioned some kind of hack. This
 forced an emergency All Worlds Maintenance on 2 February 2007.
-> NOT COUNTED.

* Hades [16] - 2/3/07

* Remora [17] - 2/7/07 to Undead Swarm (mid-afternoon CST)
Data: The Rolling Bones attacked shortly after the Mammol Jas and Trolls both retreated
 with multiple generals prisoners (10 combined prisoners, with 4 of them generals), and this
 attack came shortly after the Trolls attack. The Rolling Bones simply swarmed the final
 general and took the Astral Candy in less than 20 minutes, along with remaining 5 prisoners.

* Cerebus [12] - 4/2/07

* Asura [20] - 4/4/07 (~20:00 CDT)

* Quetzalcoatl [10] - 4/16/07 to Trolls (20:00 EDT)
Data: Fight began with 2 generals shortly after LVL 7 besieges with undead, then the mamool jas
 ended. Although there was a large number of people in Al Zahbi (between 550-600) for this attack,
 the Trolls quickly took out one general, then an notorious monster took care of the other.

* Alexander [11] - 4/18/07 to Mamool Ja

* Hades [19] - 4/25/07 to Undead Swarm (22:50 EST)
Data: Lvl 7 Undead Swarm. No Generals were present. 310 participants in

 server maintenance ended, taking 2 hours to win. This defeat ended the 162 match winning
 streak that Remora had. Took over 48 hours to recover the AC.

* Titan [5] = 6/5/07 to Undead Swarm

 prisoners.

 enough.

* Valefor [9] - 6/6/07 to Undead Swarm
Data: The NM Lion was the key reason of their defeat.

* Kujata [18] - 6/6/07 to Undead Swarm
Data: Besieged came right after level 8 trolls that lasted for 2 hours. No generals were present
 making it easy for undead to win.

* Ragnarok [11] - 6/7/07 to Mammol Ja (around 5-6PMish PDT)

 and they took care of that within minutes. 13 prisoners were claimed.

Data: Lv.8 @200, unknown number of peeps (I was at work when it happened) during early evening
 hours (CDT), all 5 generals defending. 1 mirror was destroyed prior to besieged. Mammol
 Jas left with 12 prisoners and the astral candy.

* Lakshmi [1] - 6/28/07 to Mammool Ja
Data: Lv.8 Around 300 people at the start and shot up to 509 when generals
 started dying. 9 NMs rushed the Hall of Binding.
 Fleet___ Mobel Ja stole the Astral Candy. ~~~~~ All the mirrors were destroyed prior to
 besieged, but the tide changed when the Hydra popped and the NIN Mammol Ja NM used a
 Mijin Gakure to wipe a large number of participants. At this point, the THF NMs started
 spamming Perfect Dodge.
          -> 31st server to lose (not due to a technicality)

participants witnessed the capture of the Astral Candescence at
20:01 EST.

* Remora [22] - 7/18/07 to Mammol Ja (during JP prime time)
Data: LVL 8 at 200. Don't know any other details, I was at work, except the undead attacked
 just before the Mammol Jas and took several prisoners, and all 8 mirrors were destroyed
 inside Mammok right before besieged. Update: the two besieges were back to back, and happened
 during the early-mid morning hours CDT. There were 700+ peeps, but Mammol Jas had a easy access
 to the Hall of Binding due to the high number of generals taken prisoners by the Undead.

* Lakshmi [2] - 7/25/07 to Mammol Ja (11:00 CDT)

* Odin [12] - 8/1/07 to Mammool Ja (may have been late on 7/31/07)

Data: Lvl 8 Mamool Ja Savages. 5 Generals were present. 290
participants in the defense of the Astral Candescence. Lack of Hades
ppl participation around the 18:00-20:00 EST. This is the same cause
which happened in losses 23, 24, & 25 for Hades Server. 524

* Shiva [14] - 8/22/07 to Troll Mercenaries (time unknown)

Data: Lvl 8 Mamool Ja Savages. 4 Generals were present. 300
participants in the defense of the Astral Candescence. Lack
of Hades participation again was the cause of the Astral
Candescence. With the new Besiege updates, the additional
temporary items and the 1 hour time limit, Hades was within 2
minutes of victory, but to no avail.

* Remora [25] - 10/30/07 to Mammol Ja Savages (~17:15 CDT)
Data: LVL 8 undead attacked right before and took 4 generals prisoner

Data: 8 prisoners unrecovered prior to besieged and at least 1
 of the prisoners was a general.

 Bowl parties going on among NA players.

* Remora [33] - 9/21/08 to LVL 8 Mamool Ja (late afternoon CDT)

* Remora [34] - 10/18/08 to LVL 8 Mamool Ja (time unknown, I wasn't paying any attention)

Server Record Discussion[]

Maybe there should be a section on server records, like the order each server first lost a besieged and to whom. Maybe every 2 or 3 months, this section, or maybe subpage could be updated by people from each server to give the win:loss ratio over time. I envision a table, like 2Q 06 3Q 06 4Q 06 1Q 07, etc, with rows for each server.

Here's what I've gathered so far:

Lakshmi [1] - 6/28/07 to Mammool Ja Data: Lv.8 Around 300 people at the start and shot up to 509 when generals started dying. 9 NMs rushed the Hall of Binding. Fleet___ Mobel Ja stole the Astral Candy. Mamool Ja are more powerful than the Undead now.

Excluding the 4 technical losses:

7 losses to Mamool Ja,

11 losses to Undead,

0 losses to Trolls,

3 data missing

Conclusion: the Undead are the most powerful, the Trolls completely suck--zoogelio-forgot-his-password 19:51, 29 June 2006 (PDT)

If people can update the missing info from Ifrit's 2nd loss and add new losses, that would be cool since I'm only going to be able to check forums for any server losses sporadically between now and late July. --zoogelio-forgot-his-password 17:22, 4 July 2006 (PDT)

Apparently, only Odin & Fairy lost during the June 19th Blitz. I still have yet to hear from Bahamut, Phoenix, Alexander, Ragnarok, Cerberus, Bismarck, Hades. --zoogelio-forgot-his-password 12:57, 21 June 2006 (PDT) - Shiva's sole loss was the 15th, as you confirmed, nothing on 6/19. --Snojoex 17:41, 21 June 2006 (PDT) I heard back from Bahamut, Alexander, Cerberus. Alexander lost

Any server not listed here apparently hasn't lost.

And before the July update, can players from each server get their win-loss numbers so we can have the record in case the update purges it. If updates purge it, then we can just post the win-loss ratios for the segments between updates (since FFXI regularly has 5 updates/year in Feb, April, July, Oct, Dec).

--zoogelio-forgot-his-password 18:32, 10 June 2006 (PDT) -- updated: --zoogelio-forgot-his-password 16:31, 16 June 2006 (PDT)

Remora lost to Mammol Ja Savages on 17 July 2006. Only 250 peeps in Al Zahbi for the level 5 attack. -- Ayrlie 21:43, 17 July 2006

Phoenix just lost to Mamool Ja, ~7:00 PM EST. About 390 people in zone for level 6. --Kaeli 19:08, 16 January 2007 (EST)

Lakshmi just lost to Mamool ja, 6:50 PM est. about 450+ People in zone for lvl 8

How to determine records[]

Booya! It just hit me, we have this column (in server order, not alphabetical: so Bahamut on top, Hades on bottom) and record the scores, the date listed and if scores are purged every update, we create a second table, one with the date stripped from it and just the final score listed. So, in essence, there would be 2 tables: the active besieged cycle and the historical cycle, both listed separately. And when an active cycle becomes a historic cycle, it will be moved from the active table into the historic table, forming a new column, and the active table becomes blank. That's if the scores are purged.

I recommend going ahead with what you outlined above. Server order is found on the server page on FFXI wiki or by checking the connection status of all servers on the POL website. (I'd like to see Atomos Server's score. I'm sure its 0-100 by now :D) --zoogelio-forgot-his-password 17:08, 20 June 2006 (PDT)

Edit: I still would like to keep a running account of server losses: when and to whom at least until every server has lost once to all 3 armies.

How do you look up the win-loss record? Do you have to talk to an NPC or is it given somewhere on the regional map? The article doesn't mention this. Thanks. --Pinkfae 14:22, 23 June 2006 (PDT)

Talk to any Sanction guard, select "I have some questions..." > "Besieged." > "Empire's current state of defense." --Ichthyos 14:27, 23 June 2006 (PDT)

FFXIclopedia needs reporters for Alexander, Ifrit, Ragnarok, Pandemonium, Garuda, Cerberus, Kujata, and Seraph. Anyone who's a regular on here who can post the numbers for these servers?

And I'm wondering if it can be coordinated to get officially designated reporters for all 32 servers who can update the numbers for their server here weekly (whatever day of the week suits them best). And to get these same people to post the numbers the hours before the July update (just in case the numbers get purged with the update so we can have numbers that are collected at about the same time for all servers so the most they could be off is by 1). --zoogelio-forgot-his-password 13:11, 29 June 2006 (PDT)

Fairy apparently lost again today: http://ffxi.killvoid.com/forums.php?m=posts&q=125926 --Aurikasura 18:05, 29 June 2006 (PDT)

Records moved[]

The records look nice on their own page. A little room to spice up the page, but I have to say I'm pleased with the move --Ganiman 05:59, 6 July 2006 (PDT)

Asura info[]

Ah Asura lost at least once to Mamool Ja >.< I'll check and edit later what the new 'score' is because it's been back since err Saturday and I know we won the next attack by the trolls --Tattersail 06:31, 10 July 2006 (PDT)

7/13 Seraph loss #4 Undead

We need someone reporting in for Hades, I read on one forum they had their 6th loss on the 17th. I've managed to get information for all servers' losses completely except for Hades. I have no info on their 4th or 5th losses (when and who), nor who they lost to on the 17th. --zoogelio-forgot-his-password 01:42, 19 July 2006 (EDT)

FYI. Phoenix's first lost came 7/19/06 to undead swarm. --Gahoo 13:18, 20 July 2006 (EDT)

Hmm, I think the data section is a good idea. I'm beginning to notice a pattern to the losses (not that many people in the zone). Whenever we get losses posted, if people can check how many people are in the zone, we may find out where the cutoff point is for winning/losing (at what point below which victory is extremely hard to pull off). Though it would still be nice to get Hades' data since they're the little black hole in the data set (I'm a little pissed on that point because all my avenues for finding out turned up nothing so far and none of their forums, here, Allakhazam, FFXI Online: Dreams in Vana'diel, KI, have people who would post or know that information, and searches of blogs and live journals and doing a few searches using different search terms came up negative as well). --zoogelio-forgot-his-password 19:48, 20 July 2006 (EDT)

I see Fairy has 5 losses. I need info on when the 4th and 5th losses were and who they were too. --zoogelio-forgot-his-password 00:25, 23 July 2006 (EDT)

Ramuh lost on 23 July 2006, according to the forums on ffxionline.com. -- Ayrlie 18:29, 23 July 2006 (CDT)

Can we have final reports on Besieged victory-loss numbers for all servers before the update starts? Try to get the word out to get everything updated here.

No reset with the update. --Tsakiki 19:57, 24 July 2006 (EDT)

Phoenix loss #2 - 8/7/06 to Mamool Ja. --Gahoo 15:17, 8 August 2006 (EDT)

proposal to move server losses list to another section[]

I'm making proposal to move the server losses list to a new page. Feel free to comment on whether or not it should be moved. -Ayrlie, 9 August 2006, 22:06 (CDT)

I'm not sure about that right now. I was using the data to gather some facts to add to each server page, like Server X was the nth server to lose Besieged for the first time and the mth server to lose to the Undead, lth to the Mamool Ja, kth to the Trolls. I was just planning to collect this data until every server has lost once to the Mamool Ja, the Undead, and the Trolls. I think it doesn't merit a page of its own since it's more of a data pool. But, it can also be used to gather information on Besieged, like determining how many players are needed to successfully defend Al Zahbi (where the critical population threshold is). So, I think leaving it here is the most logical choice. --zoogelio-forgot-his-password 08:46, 10 August 2006 (EDT)

Proposal is dead for now. However, expect some minor rearranging (will likely move the server losses details towards the top), and I created a section for people to list future defeats. -Ayrlie 24 August 2006, 09:10 (CDT)

Moved the detailed server losses section to the very top. --Ayrlie 1 September 2006, 11:57 (CDT)

Server Order?[]

Hmm, someone changed the list from their server ID / POL.com order into alphabetical. I'm personally ok with it, but just wanted to point it out. --Ichthyos 02:03, 11 August 2006 (EDT)

Eh, I don't like it all that much. I'm too used to seeing Shiva 2nd from the top, when I came this morning to change its record, I actually had to scroll down the page >.>;; kidding, I'm not THAT lazy, but I personally preferred the POL ID order > Alphabetical, just cuz I guess I was used to the list from the POL site. But, I guess I can adapt. Snojoex 12:40, 11 August 2006 (EDT)

I kind of like alpha here. --Gahoo 13:03, 11 August 2006 (EDT)

Quetzalcoatl lost legitamately to the Mamool Ja Savages on August 11th, 2006. We got it back sometime the next day.

I preferred it in POL ID order. Not only did I start to memorize the order they were in, but I like things being consistant with in-game and official stuff. --Jopasopa 08:30, 20 August 2006 (EDT)

Post recent server losses here[]

For now on, if your server loses a besieged, please post the date, estimated time of defeat, and the army that won that besieged down here. Any other information (such as lack of generals, lack of peeps, maintenance, etc.) is helpful but not required. In addition, we are still missing information about besieged losses from several servers. Ayrlie 24 August 2006, 09:06 (CDT)

Phoenix[]

17th lose on Aug 23,07 with 700 people in zone. was a back to back besiged with Mamool attacking first which killed all 5 generals and almost took our candy. Undead came after and there was no generals we held them off till No.21 sneak past us and stole the candy. Lost came about 1:30 est.

Lakshmi[]

One of two remaining undefeated servers. Lost that winning streak during a level 8 besieged against Mamool Ja Savages today, June 28th, at around 5:00PM EST. It's currently 10:00PM EST and we're still running around Mamook looking for those silly bells. Loss was primarily caused between JP/NA primetimes, and few people were in Al Zahbi during the beginning of the besieged. I missed it by minutes, on my way home from work. Roommate filled me in on the details. All generals were slaughtered, and the Astral Candescence was robbed, along with the entire server's dignity.

The Astral Candescence was then reclaimed 8~9 hours later, around 2:00AM EST the following morning. Big thanks to Emuu, Ladydank, Orestia, Drakor, Deathbringer, and many many others. Special thanks goes out to Shoibird, a Mithran Summoner who stayed there from the beginning to the end. After stern negotiating in Whitegate, she pulled quite an impressive salvage force together after spending 30 minutes in the BCNM by herself kicking all sorts of beastman hide. OverGryph 22:05, 28 June 2007 (EDT)

Details contributing to our loss so that Siren can try and avoid them:

1) Gulool Ja Ja was pulled into the /healing defenders.

2) Mijin Gakure spamming mobs wiped the vast majority of the defenders.

3) Illuyankas began drawing in people and keeping them dead.

4) Perfect Dodge spamming THF NM's.

5) Mamool Ja Hospitlars began spamming Curaga III on the Mamool Ja forces.

6) Besieged occured right before NA prime-time around 3pm PST.

7) Started with roughly 250 defenders which rose to 509 defenders at the moment of our loss.

8) Even if we had beaten the Mamool Ja, the Trolls were advancing and the Undead Swarm was preparing level 2.

Loss #2 for Lakshmi, around noon EDT today, July 25, 2007. I don't have any details, other than that it was the Mamool Ja again. --Tsakiki 18:41, 25 July 2007 (CDT)

I arrived after 10 min. after the besieged started for our 2nd lost. all generals but the rng one was still alive in main hall with hydra and nms attacking her. She died and the astral candy room opened up. Fleetfinger was rushing to our candy with Nin mamools with it. some of the nin wipe out people using Mijin Gakure. I died outside the main room because of Mijin Gakure before it said we lost.

Loss #3 for Lakshmi, the Mamool Ja again. I wasn't there, but it was apparently 5:00-5:30 pm Eastern time on Monday August 20, 2007, with 250-344 in the zone for the battle. --Tsakiki 06:07, 21 August 2007 (CDT)

info: 20-25 min after they started to attack the genrals start falling. when the hall open up all mobs started to ran to the hall. By the time most people gotten there we already have lost had like 6 mobs in main hall with gulool ja ja in hall too.

Fairy[]

Lost a level 4 trolls besieged several days ago. I am not sure of the details, nor have I had time to cull information from the server or forums. Not sure on the number of consecutive wins, can't remember what the gaurd said.Asparath 03:04, 17 March 2007 (EDT)

Bahamut[]

Bahamut lost on 21 sept to the undead swarm. During the fight, I saw 3 generals go down due to the Bhoots' special attack, Perdition, at 3 different times. 350 climbing to 400 people participating. Lamia No.4 took the astral candescence after spamming her charmga inside the hall of binding.--Timon of Athens 01:29, 21 September 2006 (EDT)

Bahamut's second loss occured on 5 OCT to the mamool ja. 200 people participated. Had lost some generals to the trolls shortly beforehand (number missing uncertain). More details as I find out.--Timon of Athens 00:50, 6 October 2006 (EDT)

Fenrir[]

Has Fenrir lost 3 times? Last I checked, it lost only because of maintenance.

It was confirmed via Killing Ifrit that they had lost on 7/26 due to the Troll glitch. Their recent loss happened sometime between 1 September and 3 September, but I need confirmation on exact date and the winning army. --Ayrlie 5 September 2006, 07:48 (CDT) Update: someone posted on Fenrir alla forums they had lost to the undead and AC was recovered on the 4th. 3 September 2006, 13:58 (CDT)

current record for Fenrir[]

as of Sept.14, current Fenrir record is 251 victories and 5 losses. Don't know when exactly Fenrir lost the defense but this should make the stats more accurate.

Asura[]

Asura lost besieged on 8/23/07 to the Undead Swarm level 6 at 10:00 pm EST. The Astral Candescence was recovered on 8/25/07. Our servers current records are 721 wins and 29 losses.

Asura also lost besieged on April 22, 2008. The Undead won, though I don't have a precise time for that win, or when the Astral Candescence was recovered, though it was recovered by Friday or Saturday of that same week.--Starcade 13:28, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

Asura has lost besieged on May 23, 2008 at 10:12 EDT to the Mamool Ja (max level). The Besieged started with 4 generals, and the Mamool Ja won in 51 minutes. The Astral Candescence was recovered within 18 hours. --Starcade 02:15, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

Asura has lost besieged again. June 12, 2008 -- 7:27 AM EDT. Trolls (max level). All generals had been taken in a previous besieged, and we lasted only 15 minutes. The Astral Candescence was recovered within 48 hours. --Starcade 11:04, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

And again. July 6, 2008 -- somewhere between about 9 AM and 5:30 PM EDT. Was not present. Undead (max level). Reported as the second of a doubleheader after a single one earlier in the morning. The Astral Candescence was recovered within 2-3 days.--Starcade 21:40, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

Another Asura besieged loss has occurred on July 30, 2008, at 7:07 EDT. Mamool Ja (max level). Fleetfingered Mamool Ja made a break for the Astral Candescence right about at the hour-mark once all the 3 remaining generals who started the besieged fell. They all fell in the last 12-15 minutes, and Fleetfingered took the Candescence. By the following Sunday, the Astral Candescence was recovered. --Starcade 23:13, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

Another loss. August 19-20, 2008, sometime before 9:30 PM EDT on the 20th. Was not there, but am not sure the force level even got to full maximum 200 this time. Mamool Ja won again. The Astral Candescence was returned just before midnight EDT on August 21/22, 2008. --Starcade 01:40, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

And ANOTHER Besieged loss by the worst Besieged server in all of FF11. 1:12 AM EDT on September 4, 2008. Undead. Level 7. 3 generals started. Loss took about 45 minutes. The Astral Candescence was recovered by the afternoon of September 5.--Starcade 05:13, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

And, as if clockwork, ANOTHER Besieged loss for Asura. 6:47 AM EDT on September 20, 2008. Undead, Level 7, AGAIN. 4 generals started. Loss was about at the 45-minute mark when Lamia #4 took the Astral Candescence. The Astral Candescence was recovered within 48 hours. --Starcade 10:51, 20 September 2008 (UTC)

Another Besieged loss for Asura occurred Thursday, October 9, 2008. Time unknown -- was not present. Undead, Level 8. Force Level 190. The Astral Candescence was recovered before the next Conquest Tally Sunday morning (PDT). --Starcade 04:30, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

The longest winning streak in months for Asura ended on Veteran's Day Weekend (Nov. 7-9), though I do not know when, which Beastmen group, or the like. It was a full 200 force level -- Level 8. The Astral Candescence was recovered by Sunday night. --Starcade 10:58, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

Another Asura loss. November 28, 2008, approx. 9:55 PM PST. Trolls. Max level. All generals taken in an immediately-preceding Undead Besieged. (At least 2 or 3 of the 4 we had appeared to either be one-shotted or Doomed, according to the players present.) Trolls took it in about 15 minutes. --Starcade 06:06, 29 November 2008 (UTC)

Someone else is, now, going to have to take over the Asuran updates. I decided to leave Asura on the 29th of November at about 4 AM Pacific. I am now on Leviathan. --Starcade 12:39, 29 November 2008 (UTC)

Leviathan[]

The 550+-win winning streak of Leviathan was terminated by the Undead Swarm (at, obviously, maximum force level) on May 4, 2009. Other details unknown. --Starcade 02:46, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Another Leviathan loss on July 19, 2009 about 1 PM PDT. Undead again -- MAX force level. Recovery occurred a couple days after the ensuing update. --Starcade 22:03, 19 July 2009 (UTC)

Third time in a row since the near-year-long streak that Leviathan has lost to MAX force Undead. Loss happened sometime between 3 PM PDT 8/28/09 and midnight PDT heading into 8/29/09. --Starcade 07:19, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

Leviathan lost to a level 8 undead swarm om August 5, 2010 about 11:55 P.M. EST. Astral Candescence was recaptured about 4 hours later on August 6, 2010.

Data Synthesis & Tactical Analysis[]

I'm trying to gather data from all the reported losses for statistics to differentiate each server (along with other metrics like performance in Ballista Royale 2005, fighting the Twinkling Treant, obtaining Relic Weapons [ranking in obtaining at least 1 of each of the 16 types of relic weapons or the first server to obtain a relic ___], etc) for information to put on their server page (besides interesting events, like the time Vrtra appeared on the surface of KRT, or the time a GM forgot to put on Invincible status and was killed by a Camazotz) just to individualize them more (even though all servers are almost identical in terms of great players, cliched noobs, RMTs, lousy players, endgame squabbling, and so on). I was planning on synthesizing the other data from Besieged battles, like what the threshold is for # of defending players to successfully protect the AC, though I'd like for someone else to do that since I'm still working on getting historical articles for the history of each Job in FFXI so far and the history of each FFXI Job across the FF series (like in what game does Chakra originate, or Convert, or so on).

Can someone pour through the data associated with each loss and generate a tactical analysis to determine what it takes to win or lose a Besieged? The findings should be added to the main besieged page. Structurally, there are 3 major variables to take into account: number of defending players, number of generals at the start of battle, level of the Beastmen army. Obviously there is no one magic number, but there should be a minimum threshold of players needed for guaranteed success at each combination of Beastmen army level & # generals. There may even be a 4th variable: type of Beastmen, especially since there are far more losses to the Undead & Mamool Ja than to the Trolls (though many of those losses were before the Trolls were strengthened with the July changes).

I envision this as a text section describing how each variable impacts the chances of success/loss of a Besieged event and maybe having some sort of table, where one axis is the # of generals present, the other is the LV of the Beastmen army and the numbers in that data table will be the minimum number of players needed to successfully defend the city under those conditions. It may be worthwhile to have 3 tables like that, one for each army. With as much as players of FFXI love to devise strategies to beat mission bosses or NMs or the best ways to play a Job, this Besieged tactical analysis would go right up that alley and I'm sure would be of interest to many readers. With as often as Besieged goes on and 32 separate servers, there are more than enough opportunities to figure out where the limits are. --zoogelio-forgot-his-password 15:44, 24 September 2006 (EDT)

Any Besieged can be won (no generals lost) when the number of players is equal to or greater than the number of monsters. Use one Summoner per monster. Have the Summoner pull the monster and kite it for an hour. This is a generalization that won't always work perfectly, but it's possible.

The best strategy for Besieged is as follows: 1) Pull all of the monsters into a small area of the main courtyard. 2) Have an alliance of Summoners use AoE Astral Flow on them all. 3) Use General Najelith's Revitalizer item to reset the Summoners' 2-hour abilities (if you have it). Alternatively, use Corsair Wild Card. 4) Repeat steps 1 and 2.

Outside of Summoner strategies, the best tactics are: 1) Slay the White Mage monsters first (Mamool Ja Hospitalers and Merrow Seafarers). A single Benediction from a Hospitaler can heal 16,000 HP to all nearby Mamool Ja. 2) Use Fanatic's Drink and -aga spells to pull monsters off Generals. If necessary, -aga without Fanatic's Drink. 3) Qutrubs should not be meleed. Use long-range attacks, kiting, and Damage Over Time. 4) Target the monster that currently has enmity from a General and use a strong spell/attack to pull the monster's attention. The monster will turn and follow you. The General will then follow the monster (essentially following you). Pull the monster and General into the main courtyard. It's usually best to keep the generals within a medium area of each other, so that nearly all of the players are in range of each other for Raises and healing generals. Coordination among players is so much better than when the Generals are together, rather than each isolated in his/her own courtyard. If frame rate problems occur, pull the generals a little further apart, simply so that you can target them. --Zylo 09:51, November 29, 2009 (UTC)

Possible Vandalism[]

Unless Siren and Lakshmi had a series of losses in the last few days, there's been vandalism of this page. The culprit should be pretty easy to find on the history page and admonish. I'll leave the reverts and warnings to the usual enforcers of vandalism. --zoogelio-forgot-his-password 19:03, 26 December 2006 (EST)

I've updated Lakshmi's record to be correct as of right now. Can't speak for Siren though. --Tsakiki 23:27, 26 December 2006 (EST)

The culprit is Crazman with the 23:48 update on 12/26/06. Before, Siren & Lakshmi were both 0 losses, but Crazman changed the losses to 5 and 7 respectively (without updating the last updated date nor the wins column) and updated Leviathan. They've been posting a lot of revisions to this page today (see the History page). I recommend scrutinizing the recent changes Crazman has made. Who deals with trash like this? They should check all of these revisions and see if anything is legit in it or not and warn them or ban them, whatever Wiki policy is on knowingly posting false information. --zoogelio-forgot-his-password 18:01, 27 December 2006 (EST)

Another Update for Lakshmi[]

Small update, added 2 more victories to the count from yesterday. By the way, what does the Imperial Defense Factor do? --Blue Lotus 05:13, 29 December 2006 (EST)

Basically, it affects what NPCs appear in Besieged. It also affects how much of those gates appear during Besieged. Probably best if I put this on another page, but here are the Imperial Defense requirements for each NPC:
Bastion Gate x2: Unknown
City Gate x6: Unknown
Imperial Trooper x12: 120~ Imperial Defense Value
Immortal Guard x6: 140~
Volunteer x14: Always present
Goblin Lansquenet x5: 180~
Qiqirn Freelance x15: ~100

Not sure if the number of NPCs of 1 type is always static, or if it depends on the Imperial Defense value. --Jopasopa 09:43, 29 December 2006 (EST)

New Column in the record page[]

How about this: Put a column to tell who has the AC at the time of the update? --Zero 11:48, 13 January 2007 (EST)

Unnecessary: Consecutive Wins of 0 would mean that the AC is lost. --Starcade 08:31, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

Consecutive Wins[]

I don't get this section... Is it the consecutive record of that server? How long that server went undefeated? The most recent consecutive wins? --Jopasopa 19:43, 16 January 2007 (EST)

From what I gather, its the current winning streak, how many wins the server has had since their last loss. --zoogelio-forgot-his-password 17:53, 17 January 2007 (EST)

That is correct. The number of consecutive wins determines the defense level (with possible other factors), so the "winning streak" is given when you ask about the Empire's current state of defense. --Starcade 22:21, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

Siren has lost!?[]

I cannot confirm this myself, but rumor in my Linkshell is that Siren's record is currently at 500-1. I will update the page with information as I recieve it.

If this is true that Lakshimi stands as the supreme server for Besieged. --Sakaki22 13:46, 22 January 2007 (EST)

Confirmed: This is NOT true. As it stands right now, Siren is 502-0. --skenter4 14:47, 22 January 2007 (EST)

Thank you. --Sakaki22 15:01, 22 January 2007 (EST)

Alexander[]

I can get an up to date record of Alex's besieged, I'll confirm with the guard today and post back.~

Edit: Alex is currently 504 wins to 10 losses.

Titan's Record 2-20-07[]

Since it has not been updated in a while - as of 2-20-07, Titan has had 542 Wins, 3 losses, and has been "successively victorious in 233 battles". Stinkyfeet - Titan.

Fairy's Record 3-01-2007[]

I was under the impression that we were not counting Fairy's three losses that occurred due to maintainance and due to glitches. I am going to revert it once again to 15 losses. 18 losses three of them are NOT counted in this table due to maintainance and the troll glitch. I will also look to see who is making the alterations. Please read the talk page before you edit the records.Kmbell81 00:10, 2 March 2007 (EST)

I forgot to mention I do not want a revert war, could an admin take care of the person that keeps reverting the record to 18 losses.Kmbell81 00:15, 2 March 2007 (EST)

Even if you got one in a screwball fashion, a loss is a loss and you got to accept it. ALL losses are counted, whether or not you got screwed. Several servers have been screwed by flukes like mass d/c and maintenances in the past. They have not whined about those defeats listed on the server losses page. Until there has been further information from Gahoo, your server loss page will list 18 defeats and that is my final decision. If there is any attempt to change that, I will revert it. Ayrlie 20:57, 3 March 2007 (EST)

The numbers listed on the main page should be the official tallies. Even the unfair losses should be counted on that page. The determination of justified losses vs. losses that were out of the server community's control should mainly be used for various statistics that can go in summary sections for the history of Besieged or on each server's individual page, such as the xth server to lose to Trolls or in listing the order servers lost in. In those situations, the out of player control losses shouldn't be counted, but this server records page should list what the Besieged tally NPC says verbatim (well, its a little more than verbatim since we add in the date the entry was updated). --zoogelio-forgot-his-password 22:28, 3 March 2007 (EST)

Thank you for the clarification explaining proper form for this article. In that case, the information at the top of this page should not say "NOT COUNTED" when a server loses due to a glitch, maintainance, or mass d/c. There should also be a notation at the top of this page that says something to the effect of: "All server losses are counted regardless of the circumstances under which the loss occurred." The phrase "NOT COUNTED" should be omitted from our discussion of server losses however as it is misleading and inaccurate (the circumstances of the loss can still be maintained under this formula.) This will also help maintain consistancy between the article and discussion pages.Kmbell81 20:45, 4 March 2007 (EST)

Server Record Updating[]

With as many contributors to the FFXIclopedia as there are and as many Besieged-fans as there are out there, every server should have its Besieged record updated once a week, or in the very least once every 2 weeks. And can people from Bismarck, Cerberus, Garuda, Gilgamesh, and Pandemonium bring their server's records into this calendar year?

And one point for the near future- for April 20th, 2007, can people from each server get their server's most up to date record and update this page so we can see for all 32 servers what their Besieged tallies are after 1 year of Besieged?

And small question to ponder. For Atomos server, do the GMs defend the Astral Candescence or did some army take it shortly after ToAU's release? Which army might it have been? --zoogelio-forgot-his-password 22:38, 3 March 2007 (EST)

Proven to be the Trolls that took the Astral Candescence on Atomos. The Trolls are level 0 Defending. (Hacker named Taj got into Atomos and found out)

Updated Bismarck record. No losses since the 29/DEC/2006 update. -- Seedling 20:00, 9 April 2007 (CET)

You know, it might be too much to ask, but I think that since Lakshmi (my server) and Siren are the only two currently undefeated, they should see about posting updates on records daily instead of weekly or bi-weekly. There are people chomping at the bit to see which server will fall from grace (if they ever do) first, and I happen to be one of them. Any objections to this? If not, I will personally log on everyday and update the statistics for Lakshmi, you can count on that. --Phelan Kenadras 06:00, 15 June 2007 (CDT)

Kujata Server Update May 30th 2007[]

Al Zahbi has been successively victorious in 33 battles to defend the capital, bringing the Imperial defense to a value of 109. The Imperial captial has seen 670 victories overall, and the Astral Candescence has been seized by the beastmen a total of 17 times. ♠ GRΘÐ∩RK ♠ » Talk « 09:53, 30 May 2007 (CDT)

level 8 besieged[]

the update happened, and so far it has been confirmed that 10 servers had lost besieged since the update (via various forums and other players). many have lost despite 700 peeps and 5 generals, and almost all have mentioned about some of their nms (especially to undead swarm and mammol jas) are nasty. Ayrlie 22:38, 6 June 2007 (CDT)

Besieged Broken?[]

At around 11:00pm EST the Undead Swarm and Troll Mercenaries were stuck at level 1 preparing, full bar. In addition the Mamool Ja are stuck at 1 under full bar level 0 training. They have been stuck like this for at least 2-3 hours. Is any other server having this problem? Talouin 00:24, 8 June 2007 (CDT)

On Lakshmi Trolls were in the same situation for several hours as of 3AM CST.--Ryeshinyih 03:58, 8 June 2007 (CDT)

Oops, I forgot to mention that this was Lakshmi. Did the undead swarm eventually attack? I went to sleep and they were still level 1 preparing (after approximately 3 hours of being in this state at full bar) Talouin 08:03, 8 June 2007 (CDT)

Heres the way it works. The default values for the enemy armies have always been half of what it takes for them to march. When Besieged was level 5, they would advance at 150, and so when they were defeated, it would drop to half of 150, which was 75. When Besieged was level 6, it was increased to 160, and it would drop to 80. Level 7, increased to 170, dropped to 85. But now the requirement to advance has been increased to 200. So when an enemy army is defeated, it drops to half of 200, which is 100, which is in the preparing stage. It doesnt mean that they're number are rising, it's just how the numbers are designed to work out. --Thalandor46 18:58, 8 June 2007 (CDT)

Allow unregistered editing of this page?[]

Would it be possible to allow for the figures of this page to be updated by unregistered users? I don't know if it's technically possible and if the cons wouldn't outweigh the pros, but I think it would help keeping a better record of the losses and wins. Just an idea. Fii 23:44, 12 June 2007 (JST)

There have already been cases where people messed around with other server's records (for what purpose I don't know). While it's possible to track who the vandals are through the history page, it would be hard to do the same with unregistered edits. Even so, registering is fast and simple, anyone wishing to make an edit could just take a few minutes to do it.--Draymor 10:32, 12 June 2007 (CDT)

Siren is the last undefeated server[]

Yep, Lakshmi lost. So now Siren is the only server that has not been defeated.

Other servers should watch out next week. Last year around the 4th of July and the few days preceeding it (maybe the overlap between Dominion Day holiday and Independence Day holiday?) several servers lost their first Besieged between like June 30th and July 4th and a handful of other servers which had lost before lost again there. If Siren wants to retain its title, Lakshmi retain its very low # losses, and other servers want to retain the AC to XP in the Near East, they should be aware next week will be easier to lose the AC relative to most weeks in general. --zoogelio-forgot-his-password 23:45, 28 June 2007 (CDT)

Siren had the wrong number listed, though we are still undefeated. I fear just a simple typo, I have corrected it to the current time and date's listing. --skenter4

Once again, I'm hearing ugly rumors again that Siren was indeed defeated before Lakshmi. Now, I'll openly admit that I am from Lakshmi, so my opinion is skewed already, but I want to know for certain, once and for all what the situation is. To this end, perhaps we could petition Square-Enix to check records, and offer a formal congratulations to the server who came out on top. In this way, there would be no room for speculation, no room for "but I heard this", and the like. Anyone agree? --Phelan Kenadras 4:17, 15 August 2007 (CDT)

Phelan, as a member of Siren, if you wish I can get a screen shot of the win/lost records to confirm it. Last I remember, and this has been a few days, but Siren is still undefeated. Siren's server record being miss recorded in the past has raised doubts between servers. However, I believe that only actual proof is needed to show that in fact that Siren is indeed capable of retaining its title as the last remaining server not to be defeated in besieged. Petitioning SquareEnix will show proof of unimaginable power, but I will still drop a screen shot of the server's current record on FFXIclopedia. I apologize for the formatting, my resolution is 1440x900. -- Darthporisius 20:55 JST August 19, 2007.

- Update: Sorry, I didn't edit this to reflect that I was in the middle of editing this post and logging on to get a screen shot of Siren's Server Record. My apologizes. I don't mean to be offensive to anyone. I just want to provide facts, and dispel any rumors. -- Darthporisius 22:04 JST August 19, 2007. File:Siren Record as of 2049 JST 8-19-2007.jpg

Leviathan - 4th Loss[]

Leviathan seems to have lost it's fourth besieged. Although details have not been confirmed, recent updates suggest loss occurred on June 29/07. Rirotiro 21:05, 30 June 2007 (CDT)

Caitsith Losses now at 4[]

Caitsith lost again recently (Mammols apparently). Not sure when. Undergoing level 2 (Undead) as of July 6th

July 6th, 2300, -10GMT Successively victorious in 8 battles Value of 149 Imperial Capital has seen 788 victories AC seized total of 4 times

Wins in a row[]

I'd love to see how many wins in a row different servers have, and once Siren loses (you know, someday), it may become the more important "bragging" number to have. Any ideas?--NoOneLeft 01:34, 28 July 2007 (CDT)

Oh duh, this is already tracked. *headslap* --NoOneLeft 01:37, 28 July 2007 (CDT)

I think he may mean total wins in a row. IE: When Siren loses, it might be worth noting that the longest winning streak held by any or each server. --Kattrina 02:56, 18 August 2007 (CDT)

Ok maybe I'm missing something but I would have thought that the recorded winning streak would be the longest amount of times the sever has won in between losses not reset every time they lose the AC, --Daveie 19:36 23 August 2007 (GMT)

It would also be nice to know at what win # each server was at the first time they lost --Dekarguy 19:29, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

Nearing 1000[]

Siren is nearing 1000 wins, will post update under this tab when we achieve our goal of 1,000. Al Zahbi morale is very high, and we seem to be on a roll. Had a double besieged today, and absolutely steamrolled it! --branny07:56, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

File:1040 Wins.jpg

Siren has past 1000 wins --Firewall 20:53, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

Seraph Server Update[]

Not sure when the loss was (sometime within the past 30 days), but Seraph now stands at 936 victories, 24 losses, and 22 consecutive wins. Hopefully we win the upcoming one as well. --Ithiltari 05:33, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

Kujata Server Update[]

Just thought to update while I was in Al Zahbi. Now, here's what the guard is telling me: Al Zahbi has been successfully victorious in 69 battles to defend the capital, bringing the imperial defense to a value of 28. The imperial capital has seen 1331 victories overall and the Astral Candescence has been seized by the beastmen a total of 27 times. Squall 19:51, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Differences on Record pages[]

I'd like to point out differences of the Server Records on the Discussion and Header pages. Data seems to be skewered. I'd also like to second an earlier idea of petitioning SE for the Server Win/Loss date

# of battles on each server[]

I'm curious as to why there is such a great difference in the number of battles on different servers, ranging from just over 1000 on one to over 1700 on another. All these servers have similar uptimes, so what is affecting the frequency of the battles? Do some people do NPC rescues and kill archaic mirrors more often than others or something? Tahngarthortalk-contribs 00:17, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

From the Besieged page itself:

"The Beastmen army will invade approximately 16-36 hours after their last invasion, and as early as 30 minutes after the Astral Candescence has been recovered from Beastmen."

So some servers will have attacks @16hrs regularly, while others won't see multiple attacks for 36hrs. Think of Besieged as a NM spawn timer. Sometimes it pops first window, others it goes to last hour. That's why some servers have seen more battles than others. All about luck of the draw. Dathus 08:30, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

Some servers have not been updated for 9 months, which also adds to the wild variation in battle counts. --Seedling 11:38, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

Just want to point out that Siren is still undefeated, as of February 08, 2009. Screenshot if you need proof: [2]--Enternius 16:39, 8 February 2009 (UTC)

We can't see this screenshot as the page is password protected. JMorgan 09:59, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

There we go. Fixed it. Sorry about that. --Enternius 05:51, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

Siren World's Undefeated Besieged Record Eclipses 2000 Mark! (06/04/2009) (Was from SE's page, I don't have a link to it directly any longer, however), yes I'm late --Yekyaa 02:34, September 29, 2009 (UTC)

I had to bring this up but about 5 months ago The most funniest thing happened on Slyph, It was just after a Maintanace, and Besiegd was starting, so of couse i went to Invesigate. Then Apparantly the mobs where attacking, We hadnt had our start CS, we could see or use anything, it lasted about 1 hr we was all there Like "Wtf" Then i called a GM and it started agian, wierd. ~shadowlina of Slyph~

A Final Update for the 8 Servers Being Shutdown[]

The 8 servers being shutdown should post, the day before the version update, their Win-Loss totals so their final number can at least be recorded for history. It might also be worthwhile to do the same for Campaign and for snapshots of the last Conquest maps to be posted as well. Also, whether the 8 servers have the Astral Candescence or not in the end and what the last Beastmen army is to besiege would also be nice information to have. --zoogelio-forgot-his-password 08:27, March 2, 2010 (UTC)
Depending on my schedule for my job, I will attempt to do this for Remora. --RKumono 13:53, March 2, 2010 (UTC)
I updated Midgards numbers, with less than 2 hours til the maintenance and no armies preparing/advancing it should be our final record. --Davenfelth 13:21, March 22, 2010 (UTC)
I updated Remora's final numbers. They were taken 1 hour before maintenance began. No armies were advancing, all three were listed as 'Training' at 99. The Astral Candescence was in Al Zahbi as the server closed. A full screenshot of the Besieged map, as well the other maps, can be found on the Remora World Page. --RKumono 02:59, March 23, 2010 (UTC)

Siren Lost[]

As of April 14th 2011 @ 00:58 PST Siren has officially lost their first Besieged, after 3166 straight wins.
