It should be noted that Aspidochelone's Tortoise Song dispels all effects, including food.
Strategy Notes[]
It is recommended to have only 1 BLM (or any other DD using Spirits Within) make it go inside the shell, while the other group of BLMs stand by. Once it goes inside shell, damage it until it goes outside. Recover MP then start over. Was killed by a four man team 90 mnk/dnc, 90 whm/thf, 90 drg/sam, 85 pld/rdm. Pld and drg came late in the fight but ended up being the reason we won. Fight took about 50 minutes to kill. Was a fairly tough fight but there were no deaths.

Aggro Radius[]
I'm sure this doesn't come up much, but has anyone else had the experience of Aspidochelone aggroing at a larger-than-normal distance? I don't have windower to be sure, but I was well outside of the range of normal sight/sound aggro when I found myself suddenly drawn in. --31415 06:48, June 12, 2010 (UTC)
Spawn Conditions: Trade Item[]
As of the 09/05/2011 version update, players may spawn Aspidochelone using a newly-added item named "Clump of Red Pond Weed". Once the version update is complete, we'll try to get more information on this item. --Almont 23:53, May 9, 2011 (UTC)
Drop Rate Different With Pop Item?[]
So, any secret to getting the shield? Wonder if the drop rate has been lowered since the switch to the pop item. I'm 0/16. Shumanfoo 31Aug2020
