Notes:
- Spook spawns randomly around the Tombstone at (I-10) in King Ranperre's Tomb. Spook will first spawn shortly after 20:00. Thereafter, it will spawn around 4 hours (game time) after being killed, 1 (and sometimes 2) more times. This usually results in spawn times of 20:00, 0:00, and sometimes shortly before 4:00. Spook will despawn after 4:00 if not claimed.
- Contrary to popular belief, Spook is not a notorious monster. Due to his limited pop range, time based spawn and fairly good drop item, he is still often referred to as an NM.
- update* - Mitarashichan - Server: Fenrir. Spook can be popped at least 4 times (counting initial pop) in its 20:00-4:00 time span, and it has roughly 275 hp. (killed once with no attacks, straight Dancing Edge weapon skill kill, did exactly 275 damage and Spook dropped like a rock).
- update* The above comment is completely incorrect. Spook will only pop a maximum of three times. At level 99 spook can be killed with a single hit. That said, even when killed within seconds of popping(the time it takes you to draw out your weapon), you will still be about 2 minutes short of a potential fourth pop. It pops every 3 vanadiel hours. That said you have a window of 8 vanadiel hours, so counting the first pop you would get a pop at 20:00, 23:00, 2:00. You wouldn't get one at 5:00 since the window closes at 4:00.
Historical Background
Spook is a term for a ghost. The word Spook goes back to 1801, evidently derived from Dutch. Its first use as a verb is recorded in 1867 as "to walk or act like a ghost". The verb usage "to scare or unnerve" dates back to 1935. Spooky, though, goes back to 1854. It was used as a colloquial term for spy in the 20th century.
