Sin Hunting (pt.1) - Windurst Woods
Perih Vashai: So you have come, my fellow ranger. I thank the winds for your safe return.

Perih Vashai: I have a task for you.
It is said that adventurers follow the winds, traveling far and wide across Vana'diel.

Perih Vashai: I wish for you to meet with Sibyl Guard Semih Lafihna with all haste. Give her this. She should rrreturn here with you.

Perih Vashai: Currently, Semih Lafihna is conducting an investigation in a place called Ranguemont Pass, located on the western continent.

Perih Vashai: There is little time.
...The blessing of the winds go with you.

Sin Hunting (pt.1) - Ranguemont Pass
Perchond: A Sibyl Guard from Windurst, you say?

Perchond: Ah, I know the one.
She was here. Came all the way from Windurst to ask me questions about a strange, dark shadow.

Perchond: In the depths of Ranguemont Pass there is a small pond.
Though much time has passed, I remember...it was almost dawn after a night of the full moon.
It was there that I saw the shadow.

Perchond: At first, I thought it was one of those slime creatures.
But it was far too big for that, and seemed to be wrapped in robes...

Perchond: Sensing that this was no monster, I began to edge closer...
The shadow turned towards me...

Perchond: That dreadful countenance!
It was like a creature born from nightmares...
I drew my sword, only to have it wrenched from my grasp by some unknown power.

Perchond: But I have trained as a knight.

Perchond: I quickly recovered and drew my lesser blade, slicing into the thing's robes.
What spilled from its body was not the blood I expected, but light!

Perchond: Was this creature some kind of new fiend, or a species of beastman that we have yet to discover?

Perchond: In the next moment, morning light touched the land, and the shadow disappeared with the coming of the dawn...
I reported the encounter to my captain, but he didn't believe my story.

Perchond: But your Sibyl Guard, after hearing my tale told elsewhere, came to see me.

Perchond: The Mithra called the creature I had seen the "bearer of darkness."
She searched around the pond for a pinch of glittersand that may have fallen from the creature after I had slashed it, but was unable to find any.

Perchond: Thinking about it now, I wonder if that pinch of glittersand wasn't just something the creature had been carrying...

Perchond: Travel to the pond and see what you can find.

Sin Hunting (pt.2) - Ranguemont Pass
Perchond: Yes, this is it!

Even now, the aura of dread still lingers.

Perchond: At the time, I wasn't able to gather any, but I knew it would be necessary to unravel this mystery.

Perchond: I have a request for you.
Take this to the Mithra. She said she was heading for Jugner Forest.

Perchond: There is a merchant staying by the lake in Jugner Forest who is said to have seen the bearer of darkness.
If you find the merchant, you will likely find the Sibyl Guard.

Sin Hunting - Jugner Forest
You detect a hint of sparkling dust on the tree.

This dust resembles the pinch of glittersand.

Semih Lafihna: What business do you have in these parts?

Semih Lafihna: A pinch of glittersand...
You brought this from the knight in Ranguemont Pass?
I don't fully understand what it is, but it seems to be infused with some kind of magical powerrr...

Semih Lafihna: I assume you've heard about the shadowy crrreature that dropped this.

Semih Lafihna: I thank you for all you have done, but I'm not permitted to tell you any details.
It is a matter that affects the securrrity of Windurst.

Semih Lafihna: For the moment, I must rrreturn home with this pinch of glittersand.

Received this as Rank 10 Windurst citizen:

Semih Lafihna: I assume you've heard about the shadowy crrreature that dropped this.

Semih Lafihna: Surely you remember the bearer of darkness... It's been seen here as well.

Semih Lafihna: Haunted by death, wandering the wilds for...what?
The Full Moon Fountain?

Semih Lafihna: For the moment, I must rrreturn home with this pinch of glittersand.

Semih Lafihna: ...?
Is that...a twinstone earring?
Chieftainness Perih Vashai sent this to me?

Semih Lafihna: Surely it's not...!?

Semih Lafihna: No, it doesn't match the one I carry.

Semih Lafihna: What does this mean?
Why would the chieftainness send this to me...?

Shikaree M: Perhaps it means she wishes to exchange your earring for herrrs?

Semih Lafihna: ...!

Shikaree M: Semih Lafihna, Sibyl Guard of Heavens Tower in Windurst.
That is your title, correct?

Semih Lafihna: And who on Vana'diel are you?

Shikaree M: I am a Mithran Tracker.
Have you not heard of us?
I have trrraveled from the Mithran homeland that lies across the seas.

Shikaree M: I learned that a sinner was taking rrrefuge with a tribe that lived in Windurst.

Semih Lafihna: A sinner...?

Shikaree M: Twenty years ago, in the time of the Great War, the tribal chieftainness of a certain region perpetrated a grrrave offense.

Shikaree M: That chieftainness escaped to this land, but was hunted down by Perih Vashai.

Shikaree M: We received word that the daughter of the chieftainness perrrished along with her mother.
The Mithran Tracker who traveled here twenty years ago confirmed the report.

Shikaree M: However, before the light of life left her, she confessed to her own sin: "The daughter still lives."

Shikaree M: And so I have come.
I will seek out the daughter of the chieftainness and make her atone for the sins of her mother.

Semih Lafihna: ......

Shikaree M: Semih Lafihna.
Do you not think that a Sibyl Guard is an unusual phenomenon?

Shikaree M: Although all the other orphans of the war were sent to their rrrespective homelands, only you few were taken in by a different people.
Was this done to evade the Mithran Trackers, perrrhaps?

Shikaree M: And out of those orphans who went to live in Heavens Tower, you were the only one to have no rrrecord of her parents...

Shikaree M: A sin is a sin, even if you have no memory of the fact. The child must pay for the sins of the mother when the mother can no longer make amends.

Shikaree M: Trying to switch the earring will do you no good.
That is not how I will know you as the child of the sinner.

Shikaree M: Let me tell you the secret.
A sinner carries the scent of sin.
It is a scent that only these king's tear moths can detect. A scent that will not fade and that you cannot escape. A scent that will stay with you forrrever.

Shikaree M: Now, let the truth be known!

Shikaree M: ...!?
You don't carry the scent...?

Shikaree M: ......
I must apologize. I seem to have been mistaken.

Semih Lafihna: Wait.
My mother, are you telling me you don't know...?

Shikaree M: That is no longer my concern. Farewell, Semih Lafihna.

Semih Lafihna: ......

Semih Lafihna: I must return to Windurst and meet with the chieftainness...

Sin Hunting (pt.2) - Windurst Woods
Perih Vashai: I see you were able to find Semih Lafihna...

Perih Vashai: ...Just a moment...
That prrresence...

Shikaree M: Chieftainness Perih Vashai, I apologize for this interruption.

Perih Vashai: ...You are the Mithran Tracker, I prrresume?

Perih Vashai: If your visit concerns the sinner's daughter, we are prrresently focusing all our efforts on finding the one who can confirm her passing.

Shikaree M: Attempt to rrreturn the past to dust if you will, but it will avail you naught. Dust is swept up by the wind, its scent carried on. The scent of my quarry.

Perih Vashai: I will tell you once morrre.
I have no rrreason to hide the past. The bearer of the bow does not oppose the trrruth.

Shikaree M: Be that as it may, the loss of the Bow of Light does not sit well with me.

Shikaree M: I will speak bluntly.
Perih Vashai, I believe you strrruck some kind of deal with the sinner.

Shikaree M: Your daughter's age was close to that of the sinner's. Is it possible you sympathized with their plight?

Perih Vashai: ......

Shikaree M: As I'm sure you are well aware, I won't be leaving this land until I have hunted down the sinner. I will enlighten the people of the Outlands on the evils of hiding sin.

Semih Lafihna: Chieftainness Perih Vashai!

Semih Lafihna: The Mithra I just saw...
She was the Mithran Tracker from the homeland, wasn't she?

Perih Vashai: Yes, but do not seek to hinder her.
She is here to see justice done, and serves nature as we do.

Semih Lafihna: I want you to give me a clear answer.
I come as a keeper of the peace of Windurst. Is the daughter of the sinner really dead?

Perih Vashai: Do you doubt it...?
I see, you were questioned by the tracker.

Semih Lafihna: Yes, she followed me to Jugner Forest. It seems the sinner carries a scent that we cannot detect.

Semih Lafihna: But I was not the daughter the Tracker was seeking. Did you send the earring out of concern for me? If so, your fears appear to be unfounded.

Perih Vashai: ......

Semih Lafihna: I will take this opportunity to tell you, even if you are found to be guilty, I have no intention of becoming the next Chieftainness of Windurst.

Semih Lafihna: However, I also have little desirrre to aid that Mithran Tracker in her hunt. I have no interest in the mysterrries of the past. The future is all that concerns me now.

Perih Vashai: Player name.
You see us in troubled times. On occasion, even the Mithra fight amongst themselves.

Perih Vashai: I feel that your talents will become necessary before this struggle comes to an end. Will you promise to lend us your strrrength in our time of need?

Perih Vashai: Take this as a symbol of your pledge. May the path cleared by the wind always lie before you.
