Notes:

• Chainspell is used at approximately 80%, 60%, 40%, and multiples times at 20% and below.
• Chainspell will completely reset enmity/hate, causing Shoggoth to cast on anyone within range with or without provocation.
• Shoggoth can depop very quickly if either of the following occurs:
  • Chainspell occurs when all party/alliance members are out of Shoggoth's aggro/casting range.
  • All party/alliance members that have taken action since Chainspell are defeated, even if there are surviving party members out of range.

• Only uses the Hecteyes TP moves Petro Gaze and Hex Eye.
• Immune to Gravity, Bind, Sleep, and Silence, but susceptible to Stun and Shadowbind.
• Resistant to Paralyze.
• Has fast attack speed and moderate rate of Double Attack on melee attacks.
• Has 50% increased movement speed.
• He will use Chainspell relentlessly when his HP goes below 20%.
• Involved in the Trial of the Magians Line of Quests: Trial 436 (polearm "Oathkeeper" weapon path.) Must kill 6 times to complete the trial.
• Involved in the Trial of the Magians Line of Quests: Trial 74 (Hand to Hand "Mantis" weapon path.) Must kill 6 times to complete the trial.

Historical Background

The Shoggoth was a fictional abomination created by the pulp horror novelist H.P. Lovecraft, featured in his sonnet Fungi from Yuggoth and his novel At the Mountains of Madness, and later in The Shadow over Innsmouth and The Thing on the Doorstep. Created by the Elder Things, Shoggoths were a sort of biological weapon/servant which eventually evolved sentience and rebelled against their creators, causing the decline of the Elder Things' civilisation on prehistoric Earth. The immense, amorphous, tar-like Shoggoth had numerous eyes across its surface and is very similar in concept to the Final Fantasy Hecteyes creature.
