During the Crystal War, Perih Vashai swapped the twinstone earrings of herself and her daughter with those of the sinner Nhev Befrathi and her daughter Syu Befrathi to protect them from the Sin Hunters. Perih sent her daughter to Jeuno where she was identified as an orphan.
20 years later, the Sin Hunter Shikaree M arrives in Windurst in search of the sinner, her daughter Syu, and the Bow of Light. Shikaree M initially accusses Semih Lahfina of being the sinner's daughter. Semih can't dismiss that theory, as she never knew her mother and believed she died during the Crystal War. Semih seeks the truth and learns that her mother is in fact Perih Vashai, and Semih was the "orphan" child sent to Jeuno.
