Background
Rafflesia arnoldii, is called "monster flower". It a parasitic plant found in Southeast Asia. It grows within a host vine until emerging with a basketball-sized bud that develops a flower the size of a tire. It gives off a smell similar to a decaying corpse to attract flies which spread its pollen before the flower shrivels a few days after bloom.
