Phobos and Deimos are the 2 satelites of Mars discovered in 1877 by the American astronomer, Asaph Hall. Phobos is the closer and larger of the 2 satelites. Phobos was named after the Greek God, Phobos, meaning "fear" and is the son of Ares.
