- Black Mage: WHM subjob, 5-6 Yagudo Drinks, 1 Fish Mithkabob, Musketeer Pole as weapon, Life Belt, Eremites+1, NPC set to Stalwart Shield, ethers/muslums. You will mostly be trying to heal your NPC just like white mage. When you approach Vassago cast Stun. Vassago's Drain must also be stunned. Make sure to keep up elemental debuffs (especially Drown) and cast Fire II as it is readied. Keep in mind most of your mp will be used to keeping your NPC healed. Keep all debuffs up.
- Black Mage: The above strategy is probably ideal. However, there is another way this battle can be fought. I subbed RDM, brought no meds or food, wore 30 cap gear, and used Fierce Attacker NPC mode. Keep Slow, Paralyze, Blind, and Bio II up. Then just spam your NPC with healing spells (I could keep up using Cure II only), keeping your TP below 50% so your NPC continues to weaponskill. When you run out of MP, Elemental Seal Manafont Freeze -> Aeroga II. This was definitely not the safest plan, but it was a pretty solid win. It basically just goes to show that you don't *need* any of the stuff listed above to win.
- Black Mage: BLM50/WHM25, as much MP gear as you can find, and a few MP based Meds (Yagudo Drinks, Ethers, etc). Set your NPC to Stalwart Shield and let him take the hits for you. For the first 50% he will cure himself, but after that, he will run out of MP and you'll need to play WHM. Keep your MP up before 50% because of this, nuking occasionally and keeping all debuffs on. Slow, Paralyze, Blind stick well, and it's a good idea to use Bio and Drown to keep the NM's attack down. Not a difficult fight, but might take an attempt or two to get right. I did not use Manafont at all during the fight. Blighted Gloom hit me the first time, even though my NPC had hate, so after this I made sure there was a big gap between me and the NM whenever he readied it.
- Black Mage: BLM50/RDM25. I had no mp gear and took no meds or anything of the sort. Had my NPC on stalwart shield and she took 2/3 Blighted Glooms. Keeping silence and paralyze up was probably key to my success. Just had to throw in a few Cure II's from time to time, not even that much. I only cast one nuke and that was Elemental Seal Aeroga II at the end which did about 350 damage. No manafont needed. Also, ditto on the note about Vassago's drain. It needs to be stunned or silenced because it removed about half my NPC's hit points near the end of the fight. --Coronawolf 05:17, March 13, 2010 (UTC)
