I hope this is an appropriate place / person to ask about new templates. In my user blog I would like to add a checklist to track the mementos I have collected from Monster Rearing. I haven't been able to find an existing template for that purpose and I am not sure how to create a new one or if that is even allowed. I tried following the format for the Trust checklist template but that doesn't seem to work so I am guessing that a new template purpose built for mementos will need to be created.
Let me know if you have any difficulty using it on your user pages.
I took a look at your user page and notice you're using a Blog entry to track checklists. This is fine, but note that the difference between user blogs and user pages is that blogs are displayed in reverse chronological order and you have much more freedom in how your user pages look vs. how your blog displays.
Thanks for the template. It looks great, just what I was hoping for. While I have used this Wiki for information for a while I really haven't done much with adding new information to it. I'll have to explore and read up on what is possible. Thanks again.
Ya know somethin.. after taking a min to read some of whats on this wall.. I realized I may have been kinda rough in my own dealings with ya.
I have a day job too, an seein so many be hard on you doesn't sit too well with me.
I haven't seen a reason to believe your a mean person yet. So I will apologize for my own side of things up to this point.
Can't be easy running this place with a million kids swearing their info is better than your edits.
I figure your the one who fixed the Odin page I was working on, if so thanks. I can't format too well on here yet.. still learning it. I won't bother you unless I have to, but I will catch those typos (periodically) =p
Kids.. to all I know, this person is the only active admin aiding anything an they can only be in one place at a time. The access of a million users against the editing power of one person does not make them a super editing AI from the future.
Hello! I'm Sannse, from Fandom's Editor Experience team. I'm contacting you as the most recently active admin. Hopefully you can pass this on to others as needed.
One project that we're excited about launching is an initiative to pair newly registered users with experienced advisors (which they can choose from). These advisors would be available for answering basic editing questions and guiding appropriate edits, in the hope that these users will become active in the local community.
Why do this, rather than rely on admins and moderators? We've seen from research and experience (both from Wikipedia) that establishing a human bond with a peer "senpai" or mentor can have a better effect on the comfort of the newcomer, especially where the high volume of edits may cause the quick response of rollbacks rather than taking the time to walk new editors through their early work. While some communities do take that time and care among their leaders, we feel an additional level might put new users at ease and help them be more comfortable with editing. Ultimately, we feel like this project will either free up some time for admins and moderators, or designate them as approachable welcomers to talk to and guide new users. We want to see how effective this is on a relatively small number of communities and see if Fandom's results are consistent with those experienced on Wikipedia. If they are, we may pursue expanding the pilot program and perhaps seeking to build it into a core part of the new platform.
Here's what we would wish for your community to agree to:
At least one volunteer advisor, acting as an advisor and advocate helping newcomers. For the most part, this means responding to questions that newcomers leave the advisor in Discussions. Sometimes this may mean the advisor interacts with admins and moderators to address concerns regarding the newcomer. We have some advisors-at-large (those not tied to the local community, but available as fallbacks) already, but if you have ideas on who you might want to represent you in this role (or if you'd like to do so yourself!), feel free to contact me on my Wall.
Discussions / Feeds. Your community must have this active for the current solution to work. This is the primary method in which advisors have open communication with the users that choose them. We also recommend a Feeds channel of “Help Desk” where the communications can be placed, if you do not have a similar channel.
A change to your Welcome Messages to allow a method where a newcomer can choose an advisor. If you are currently participating in the MyDashboard program, there will be a card there to interact with an advisor.
We are testing this for the next two months, and will see what the future of the program is thereafter. Is this a program you would feel comfortable with placing on your community?
Hey ToastTheKnowing! Not sure if we've been introduced yet, but I'm Technobliterator, the Fandom Wiki Manager here (I introduced myself to Haldarn a while back). Just popping in to check how the wiki is going? I've been checking the RecentChanges here and there, but not seen a need to intervene thus far, but as usual, let me know if you need anything!
Almost all of the images I have been replacing are done so by one or more of the following criteria:
1. The image is of equipment that is out of date, missing jobs from the Seekers of Adoulin expansion.
2. The image is not uniformly cropped, clipping the outer boundary of the game's infobox or containing visible background imagery from the screenshot.
3. The image does not use an opaque window background.
4. The image is watermarked or otherwise clearly originated from a 3rd party site without attribution.
I have not explicitly been targeting your contributions. If there was a change you feel was done in error let me know and I can revert it.
The jpg-pictures i made were cut by paint after i switched to a non-transperant background ingame and screenshotting it myself with hardcopy. I tried to make it as legal as possible by adding the data-info. All of them were taken, while i did the quests at the time of the upload. I choosed jpg cause it took less bites. It made sense to change the name of the trial as picture-name into the itemname with it's current level on the picture. But to me it looked like exactly the same picture got placed, just with another namecode in the editpage and png instead of jpg. Made me ask myself why i did the work. That's all. When it tried to use the "[[..."-command to add the item name with the wiki-automatism like Gungnir (80) what actually works, I thought to have to make my own pics. Because i didn't find a data. And i tried the png-ending also. FFXIclopedia should show more already exiting pages, when you use this.
As far as Gungnir (80) goes, the picture that was originally there was named File:Gun4.jpg, created almost nine years ago. Convention asks that images be named after the item they describe without abbreviation and 'Gun4.jpg' was deemed too ambiguous. I capped the replacement myself and saved it as , PNG as I find that format easier to work with, and replaced all instances of File:Gun4.jpg with the new image, then removed Gun4.jpg once it was no longer used on any pages. Unfortunately wiki does not make it possible to preserve the file history of a .jpeg replaced by a .png as there is no way to modify the reported MIME type of an uploaded image page. The only replacement strategy that works is what I have just described.
I apologize if this makes your efforts feel futile. Understand that my goals here are to update as many item pages as possible so that they can be reliably included in modern templates being developed that make the site more mobile-friendly as well as use modern features on the desktop browser version of the site. This often includes replacing images to meet this wiki's media naming and image policies, both decisions intended to make it easier for active wiki editors to make more changes down the road.
i was the one who posted things on the new wiki not anyone else so for you to say shit to me and act like you own rights to bgwiki your seriously mistaken there isnt any own rights you had no right to delete my posts bg wiki is not uptoday boy so go do your homework or leave me the hell alone yes i had stuff fixed but the general idea was posted by me an several other players. i been trying to help fix that sight but everytime i do help add information people like your self think it should be them who get credit i know i post things i dont need your help and there isnt any user agreement saying were not allowed to take the things we did on the new wiki and transfer it to old or the other way around if there was then bg wiki needs to be distroyed cause 75% of the things that are on bg wiki came from here so dont even try to argue with me boy
I see one as part of the top Fandom Nav bar. Clicking on the word 'Search' opens up the input bar. That bit was recently changed so if it's not working for you I suggest reaching out to the fandom support team to see why it's broken for you. https://community.wikia.com/wiki/Special:Contact
Sorry, just checking the teleport logs and I had to move the original Adoulinian Tunes to the KI page, as the KI was on it. That left Adoulinian Tunes empty because I didn't have the info to complete it.
Adoulinian Tunes was a redirect page when I found it and all it did was redirect to the KI, so I didn't know which way was up when I made my edits, I'll remove the redirect pragma on Adoulinian Tunes and edit it to be the inventory item, and restore the KI info to Sheet of Adoulinian Tunes
