Historical Background[]
In Christian demonology (Late Medieval- Early Modern European), Allocer (also spelled Alloces, Alocer [Allocen is a much less common name]) is a demon with the title of Great Duke of Hell (not Marquis), commanding 36 legions of demons. He appears as a horned lion-headed human riding a horse with dragon legs. Other accounts depict him as a knight with a ruddy complexion, burning eyes, and a lion's face riding a very large horse. He can give his conjurer immortality, teach any form of the arts (especially astronomy), and reveal the mysteries of the sky. Allocer is 1 of 69 demons listed in the Pseudomonarchia Dæmonum and 1 of 72 listed in the Ars Goetia (the first section of the Lesser Key of Solomon).
