Notes:

  • Spawned with Blue Abyssite in any of the above areas. Blue Abyssite will shatter upon popping the NM and Black Abyssite may be obtained by the person who popped upon defeat.
  • Does not normally have an HP bar.
  • Resistant but not immune to Slow and Elegy. Immune to Paralyze(Elemental seal Paralyze resisted after multiple attempts).
  • Has enhanced movement speed (at least 25%).
  • Has a modest TP Regain.
  • Will depop when it has no enmity on anyone. Will NOT depop if it has been taken too far from its spawn area.
  • Has high Double Attack rating.
  • Uses Metallic Body and receives an undispellable Stoneskin effect (~1000 HP). It may say that you dispelled it if used quickly enough, but the effect will remain.
  • Bubble Shower's range is huge; players can get hit by it without seeing the "readies" message.
  • Uses Scissor Guard and Bubble Curtain to receive ~50% physical and magical damage reduction, respectively. Both can be dispelled.
  • Uses Mega Scissors instead of Big Scissors; conal move that wipes shadows and resets hate.
    • Mega Scissors may not reset hate, but rather greatly lower the enmity of everyone that is hit by it. PLD's can get hate back fairly easy from other jobs that are at hate cap. This wouldn't be the case if the move was actual hate reset.
  • Uses Venom Shower: Deals heavy AoE (20') magical damage and causes Poison and Defense Down. Poison causes 40dmg/tick, lasts 1m, and cannot be removed by any means except Chakra.
  • After using Venom Shower, temporarily has an Aura that inflicts Plague.
  • Venom Shower can be evaded by a height difference, just like Astral Flow.
  • 229 water resist was enough to fully resist Venom Shower's damage, and to resist the poison effect completely.
  • Krabkatoa will ALWAYS execute his TP moves, even if there is nobody in range.
  • Krabkatoa will only drop Karka Ring if you see his shadow on the ground.(This has been confermed from 10 kills, 8 did not have shadows that we fought did not drop helm or ring, 2 had shadow on ground both dropped both ring and helm).
  • Respawn for Krabkatoa seems to be 2-4Hours, Can anyone confirm this?
  • Soloable rdm/sch by the use of a fence at (I-7/8), not too challenging unless he gets you with Venom Shower, then its pretty much cure bombing yourself until it wears, just nuke and dot, remember to dispel shell.

Historical background

Krakatoa (Indonesian: Krakatau), also spelled Cracatoa or Krakatau, is a volcanic island made of a'a lava in the Sunda Strait between the islands of Java and Sumatra in Indonesia. The name is used for the island group, the main island (also called Rakata), and the volcano as a whole.

The best-known eruption of Krakatau culminated in a series of massive explosions on August 26–27, 1883, which was among the most violent volcanic events in modern and recorded history.
