The very devices that claimed the eye of Balrahn, these ringed fist weapons are said to have been donned by the minion of an evil puppeteer. A vivid and detailed retelling of this encounter came to have a most profound effect upon an impressionable Jalzahn.

Speculation

The Kenkonken may be a reference to the Martial Arts style Sorinjiryu Kenkokan Karate, a unique blend of Okinawan kobudo and Shorinji Ryū Karate, Japanese aikijujutsu, judo, kenjutsu, and Chinese bājíquán. This particular martial arts style innovated the Karate style by allowing its students to train fully with weapons and protective equipment to test their techniques without having to hold back.
