Points needed to buy guild related items. You trade items of your craft to the Guild Representative, who gives you points. Most items take several weeks to save up for. This shows you're serious about your craft.

All crafts have three important items. They are denoted as the 70,000 GP item, the 100,000 GP item, and the 150,000 GP item. Other items available include the High Quality Crystals, such as the Inferno Crystal or the Aurora Crystal. These are available for 300 and 500 GP, respectively.

The Guild Representative will tell you the Guild Point Item for the current day. The item will change every day at midnight Japanese Standard Time. The amount of points available for that item ranges anywhere from 1000 GP to 8000 GP. Thereby making the average for the 70,000 GP item about 2 weeks, the 100,000 GP item about 3 and a half weeks, and the 150,000 GP item over a month to obtain. You should expect to spend anywhere from 500,000 gil for the 70,000 GP item to 1.5 million gil for the 150,000 GP item.

With the addition of CoP many guild also now have GP "tools" for sale. These are required for crafting special base parts used in the making of "Enchantment" items. They can range in price from 8,000 GP to as much as 40,000 GP.

The daily item is indeed not random, and people have figured out the patterns. There are two common sites for reference: http://www.ffrecipe.com/guildPattern.php

(Titanictus isnt the greatest out there, they have been known for having problems after the Feb 28 update and for taking some time to update as they depend on other sites for the daily "pattern." It turns out that they actually link back to ffrecipe.com for their recipe data.)
