A forced spawn occurs when a monster appears in direct response (generally immediately) to an action by a player. Examples of this would include:
- A player trading the correct item or combination of items to some NPC target.
- A player examining the correct target after fulfilling all prior conditions of a mission, quest or other in-game event.
Forced spawns are typically utilized in missions and quests to avoid issues with other players potentially camping and monopolizing important monsters. Forced spawns can also have nothing to do whatsoever with quests; forced-spawn monsters may simply be spawned by reaching a designated target and trading certain items to it, regardless of any missions or quests.
In general, forced spawns can be utilized at any time, as long as the player fulfills all the prerequisites for popping whatever monster is tied to a particular scenario. A monster that is force-spawned is automatically claimed by the player that popped it and subsequently can be attacked by any player with whom they are partied and/or allied. If a forced spawn monster becomes unclaimed for any reason and loses all enmity, it will typically wander back to its spawn point and despawn after a certain amount of time.
