Article for Deletion

Keep: This was nominated for deletion under the "Unnecessary Redirect" clause. However, I disagree that this is unnecessary. Because of the way searches deal with case sensitivity, having a redirect from xp and XP serve the same function, but if you remove this page, you will no longer be able to search for "xp" and find Experience Points. Personally, I usually don't use Caps Lock when searching, and when the search function comes up with a list, I'm fine with the one extra click. However, when searching "xp", this will not find the Experience Points article. It will work for "XP", because of the redirect, but no "xp" if you delete this redirect. --Chrisjander 17:30, 15 March 2007 (EDT)

Keep: This seems like a useful redirect to me. --Divisortheory 18:24, 16 March 2007 (EDT)

Article for Deletion (Nom 2)

Delete: This redirect is not necessary, searching for xp or Xp or xP will function for the already existing redirect located at XP. We do not need redirects for all variations of casing. --User:Charitwo/Sig 11:29, 30 June 2007 (CDT)

Keep: "xp" brings it to this page rather than to "XP" as noted in the archives and when I just tested it right now. Most people would be typing that in therefor verifying its existance. --Nynaeve 11:40, 30 June 2007 (CDT)

Comment: If this page doesn't exist, it should then goto XP. --User:Charitwo/Sig 12:05, 30 June 2007 (CDT)

Comment: It seems the search function automatically capitalizes the first letter of the first word in the query, rather than point to the closest casing. I haven't noticed this before. Which would make XP unnecessary as mentioned above, as searching for any of those will yield Xp. --User:Charitwo/Sig 12:10, 30 June 2007 (CDT)

Delete: I think the functionality changed a bit with the recent upgrade. I believe that Charitwo's statement at the top is correct and that only "XP" is needed, contrary to the archived discussion that happened before the upgrade. That said, it doesn't matter a whole lot, but i think functionally nothing would change by deleting this redirect, techincally rendering it "unnecessary". --GAHOO t/ c 12:35, 30 June 2007 (CDT)

Resolution: Delete. Searches for "xp" will now be redirected by XP. --Chrisjander t/ c 17:52, 1 July 2007 (CDT)
