Article for Deletion

Delete Linkshells should not have their own pages in FFXIclopedia for more reasons than I care to mention at this time --Ganiman 20:13, 29 July 2006 (EDT)

Delete If everyone put their LS on the wiki there wouldn't be any room for anything else, not to mention bandwith issues. --Zero 21:06, 29 July 2006 (EDT)

Delete Information contained in a Wiki like this should be accurate and up to date, and I don't see a personal LS remaining that way indefinitely. Also it has no usefulness when looking for FFXI information. --Tha*Lunat!k 21:31, 29 July 2006 (EDT)

Comment: I think this should be deleted, buuuut I think that pages for certain linkshells may be appropriate. Certain linkshells have been around for years, especially some HNMLS's. Sometimes if enough information is available, a page outlining the linkshell, a history of the shell and what it has been through. Possibly a link to its website if it has one (the page should absolutely not be used as a personal page for the linkshell). In cases like that I believe they are appropriate. That way the page would be an encylopedic entry detailing history and purpose, rather than a shout out to your personal linkshell. --Chrisjander 21:50, 29 July 2006 (EDT)

Comment: Alright. Sounds fair. I agree with the person above, allow major linkshells to have their LS posted. Sorry about that ^^ {Please forgive me.} --Revitozu 21:50, 29 July 2006 (EDT)

Comment: But the question is, how do we know if Linkshells have been around long enough or are big enough. Really I belive it's best if we say "No" across the board. --Zero 00:37, 30 July 2006 (EDT)

Delete: In general, I think they are not wiki material. Although I am open to an exception, if one is adequately presented to the community. --Chrisjander 00:43, 30 July 2006 (EDT)

Delete: Seems to me that linkshell info belongs on their own websites. There's also the new linkshell community dealie from Squeenix... --Valyana 01:27, 30 July 2006 (EDT)

Comment/Keep I am OK with there being no LS pages on the wiki, but they will likely creep in over time. I would not mind them being here so long as they follow a set naming convention (Linkshell:xxxx) and article format. --Gahoo 09:54, 31 July 2006 (EDT)

Comment/Keep I agree with Gahoo, I believe they should be allowed under certain rules and what have you. I think if it is just a short blurb like there name what they do and the leaders name. I don't think there is problem with that. But if you deciede to delete it, be sure to forbid them all... --Edamus 10:37, 31 July 2006 (EDT)

Comment/delete: I agree that LS pages that show every LS member just can't be kept up-to-date and would result in having too many dead-end and old LS Pages on the site. Also, pages like this really have no FFXIclopedia value and therefor don't belong on the site. The one thing I could say would be to maybe create a page for all LS on a certain server. I know some HNMs have been around for a long, long time and knowing at least the HNMs on a server can be helpful I suppose to someone searching. It will give people searching an idea as to what an HNMLS is. I am not sure if I am saying make a webpage for each HNM LS or make one webpage seperated by server and show the name of the LS with a link to their formal website. I am not saying to allow any LS propaganda on this wiki site for said LSs, but listing them in some form or another would allow those LSs that have been around for a really long time and are formally organized to have a page and have people that are looking around at HNMs to see what everyone is talking about. I think if it could be made part of the researchable and factual part of wiki that kind of thing could be a good addition. --Nynaeve 10:42, 31 July 2006 (EDT)

Comment: tl|Linkshell. Just something I thre together. --Gahoo 10:51, 31 July 2006 (EDT)

Comment: Problem with allowing this is, who is going to police these pages to make sure they are following the guidelines/policies set for these types of pages? It just seems like more work and not for a very good reason. There are plenty of other free resources for linkshells to use out there. and the Playline LS Community site are two that come to mind quickly, I'm sure there are more. Linking to those external sites from user pages is all I think we need here. --Ganiman 14:11, 31 July 2006 (EDT)

Delete: I don't think linkshell pages are within the scope of ffxiclopedia. The information here has always been in-game content, and to be honest, it's hard enough to keep up with that. Besides, SE has already released their linkshell tool. --Enfield 14:52, 31 July 2006 (EDT)

Comment/Keep: The WoW Wiki does this for guilds of notability. For example, PALS FOR LIFE is listed as well as Leeroy Jenkins. I think LSs that are of notability ought to be listed. Like I have said before, this is a wiki not a walk through site. I don't think we should limit ourselves. What we ought to be discussing if this LS is of notability on the server in which it operates. --Pinkfae 15:13, 31 July 2006 (EDT)

Delete: Only LS I can think of is BG (OrderOfTheBlueGartr) that would be worth noted, seeing as how they are huge and known across all servers, but play on my server, Bahamut. --Eddie 16:04, 31 July 2006 (EDT)

Delete: We are not the Linkshell Community Website. We are not the WoWwiki. --Mierin 10:23, 1 August 2006 (EDT)

The Linkshell Community is not a wiki. We have been compared to WoW Wiki by the FFXIclopedia administrators [1]. We are not Allakhazam, Mysterytour, Somepage, or the numerous other walk-through sites. This is site part of the wiki community and follows the guidelines as every wiki under this community.

Comment If you chose to not allow LS pages, why are there even User pages? If you think no one is gonna view them look at any random User page, they at least have like 10 views. I have 200, and I have no idea why. I don't edit the wiki like some hardcore fans here so I think you should think carefully... You may think no one will view them, but in actuallity they do. --Edamus 10:36, 1 August 2006 (EDT)

Resolution: Delete. This page may be recreated in the future under strict guidelines for this type of page. --Chrisjander 10:00, 2 August 2006 (EDT)

Comment Delete. Square-Enix started the Linkshell Community Beta recently and the linkshell I am in right now loves it. Its a free service, but requires a shellholder or pearlsack holder to open it. --Ayrlie 10:29, 2 August 2006 (CDT)

Comment I think that linkshell pages need to be either ALL, or NONE, but if ALL are allowed, then very strict guidelines need to be set. I.E. Some VERY basic server, name, ad website link. Simply to DOCUMENT their existence, and point people to them if they're looking for more information. --Aelis 01:24, 6 August 2006 (EDT)
