Article For Deletion

Delete: This category is not needed. It serves no purpose. We do not need subcategories for types of guides. All of these can be found on Beastmaster page. --Mierin 14:08, 11 December 2006 (EST)

Keep If you look at the guides page its an absolute mess. Bundling guides on the same toppic will clean that somewhat up. Anyhow - if you delete the category, take care to reedit the guides in it, because they are no longer in the guides category but only in its specific category at most times. I will stop the cleanup untill the issue is solved, so that some are only in the Beastmaster category and some are in both and some only in guides. --Gisselle 15:53, 11 December 2006 (EST)

Comment: If anything they should be in both Guides and Beastmaster Guides. They should have not be removed from the general Guides category. --Mierin 16:14, 11 December 2006 (EST)
Comment: That would defy the purpose of cleaning up the guides page. Alternatively one could seperate the general guides and the job guides into 2 seperate categories. But the guides page needs some clearing up. More than 200 guides, and no system is not good in my opinion. --Gisselle 16:21, 11 December 2006 (EST)
PS: I planned on doing this on all jobs....
PPS: I started discussing the real issue on the talk page for guides

Delete: I understand how many, and I mean many Guides are now in the Category:Guides section, but I do not see that Subcategories are necessary. I would not want my WHM guide compared to others... I feel that as long as we keep Guides to the naming constructions of having what they are about then they are easy to find if you are searching in the Category:Guides section. If this is deleted, then all the other Categories recently made need to be as well. --Nynaeve 17:40, 11 December 2006 (EST)

Comment Maybe just a larger category for all job guides, putting them all in one? Would help a lot in my opinion. And it would be only seperating the job guides from the rest. And which other categories are you talking about? --Gisselle 19:33, 11 December 2006 (EST)

Comment: Category:Crafting - You put a redirect on the Crafts Page (which I rolled back) and then made the Category Crafting which makes it seem that you made that whole page and everyone elses hard work doesn't count. If you wanted that moved, you put a move tag on it. The History of the page needs to stay with the work. Either Category:Crafting needs to be deleted outright or Crafts needs to Move to it. Depends on what people want, but in no way shape or form should you take others work and copy and paste it which therefor gives you full credit in the History and therefor discredits those who actually did the hard work. --Nynaeve 19:50, 11 December 2006 (EST)
Comment: Sorry, but... geez.... I asked in the talk that i would like to redirect, then an admin said go for it, i did it, and another admit rolls it back and tells me not to so such a thing? All right. I have a personal page, i stop right here trying to help to clean things up concerning stubs, uncategorized and so on. Let me know when you sorted your own stuff out on my talk. I stay out of this. Thanks. --Gisselle 20:01, 11 December 2006 (EST)
When Gahoo said Agreed. I don't think he realized that it would be taking out other people's credit. I honestly don't know what he was thinking because I am not him. But it is policy here to keep peoples work and credit together because in the past people have gotten upset over it. I personally do not see it necessary to have a Category for Crafting. The Main Page links to Crafts, then the Crafts give the split for each Craft right there with Icons, and then on each of these pages, the guides for these Crafts are listed. Therefor, I do not see the needs for a category crafts that lists it all over again. --Nynaeve 20:33, 11 December 2006 (EST)
Comment: On a separate note, if there were a Category:Crafting, it would only just link to what, 8 things? I don't think it's necessary when every craft page has a link back to Crafts right on it. --Chrisjander 21:57, 11 December 2006 (EST)
Comment:Ok, one final note from me. I created the crafting category because i tried to categorize Desynthesis. My first thought was, that is easy, its crafting - what there is no category for it? So i made it, linked all the guides for crafts into the category (not taking them out of the guides page, but could be done imho), linked desynthesis in it, and all crafting gategories. At least take a look at what was done before ... ah well, get to me if you resolved on my talk, i will not look in here again. --Gisselle 08:11, 12 December 2006 (EST)
Comment: Desynthesis can be categorized under Terminology. I don't think Crafting deserves a category, but I think, possibly, that Crafts should be moved to Crafting, and redirects should be in place pointing to it. The current article for Crafts, as well as its history, would remain, and we can add an explaination of synthesis, desynthesis, and how it all actually works. That way we wouldn't need a page for Synthesis or Desynthesis, as they would just redirect to Crafting, which would have the explaination of them on it. --Chrisjander 09:41, 12 December 2006 (EST)
Comment: What I was thinking actually was that we had duplicate pages. I didn't realize it was just created. I thought the request to maintain the status quo, not change it. My mistake. --Gahoo 10:15, 12 December 2006 (EST)

Comment: Since there seems to be a strong policy against the usage of categories, please roll back/delete the beastsmaster guide category and do the same to the crafting category. When i have time i will check on the beastmaster guides to see if they are all back in the regular guide category. Thanx. --Gisselle 07:22, 16 December 2006 (EST)

PS I consider the matter solved and history in all respects by this. But to prevent future editors on making the same mistakes, please try to formulate a guideline on redirects and categories to be put into the editing guidelines for this wiki.

Resolution: Deletion. Have Deleted Links & Categories for Category:Beastmaster Guide as well as Category:Crafting. Any other unneccessary Categories can be deleted per this afd. --Nynaeve 10:15, 17 December 2006 (EST)
