Walkthrough

• After the cutscene, head to Norg and speak to Andrause at (I-8).
• In order to get the Black Book from him, he will ask you take pictures using a Soultrapper of mobs in the Sea Serpent Grotto.
• He will offer to sell you a Soultrapper and a stack of Blank soul plates for 800gil.
• Mobs can include: Brook Sahagin, Bog Sahagin, Blubber Eyes, Delta Sahagin, Devil Manta, Dire Bat, Grotto Pugil, Lagoon Sahagin, Marsh Sahagin, Mousse, Razorjaw Pugil, Riparian Sahagin, Rivulet Sahagin, Robber Crab, Rock Crab, Sahagin Parasite, Sea Bonze, Shore Sahagin, Swamp Sahagin, and Undead Bats. (Some of these mobs are behind the Silver, Mythril and Gold Beastcoin doors.)
• You don't have to engage the mob to take a pic, I was able to grab a pic of a Shore Sahagin that was up on the ledge with Mindgazers from down below. (took 2 trys)
• Trade these back to Andrause one at a time.
• Once you have traded all 3 he will give you the Black Book (He mentions if another is required you can return to him.)
• Zone into Gustav Tunnel from Cape Terrigan or Valkurm Dunes and find the Outcropping at (F-10).
• Check the Outcropping once for a CS and then a second time to start a Confrontation battle.
• 3 Tenshodo NPCs spawn and spam Utsusemi: Ni for a couple of seconds and then produce multiple clones (4?) of themselves.
  • Black Book is taken when battle begins. You must redo Black Book quest if you lose the battle else you will not get credit.
• Clones are quite weak, AoE damage will work well.
• Clones will resist dark based sleep spells
• TP is not reset on entry of the Confrontation, building before entry highly recommended.
• After a minute or so the real NPCs will become targetable enemies - concentrate of them instead of the clones else they will keep producing clones. (NOTE: It takes longer than a minute, I spent 2:31 fighting the clones and the NPC's did not change!)
• Summoning NPC doesn't work for this Fight, the moment you enter the battlefield they WILL depop. DO NOT waste an NPC charge!
• After defeating the real versions, any clones still out will shortly depop.
• Cactus Key given as a reward for winning the battle.
• Cannot be soloed as MNK/DNC, clones were resummoned too quickly and the speed of which they are resummoned cannot be kept up with TP-wise, so you cannot dispatch them quick enough. Also... the NPC's did not change after almost 3 minutes of fighting, had to retreat the battlefield. (NOTE: Also the clones can cast Elemental: Ni ninjitsu and will do it in sync so if you don't have some form of Phalanx/Shell/Physical damage reduction gear/spells it can wind up in lots of damage in a short period of time, with 1900HP i was taken to yellow in almost 17 seconds.) DUO/TRIO or more recommended for an easier time.
• Tried with BLMx3 all adds resisted ES SleepgaII, -ga nukes took care of them nicely but since cant sleep its hard keeping the adds at bay(manaburn route not recommended). BLUx2,WHM worked very well(also, they seem to resist all forms of sleep sheepsong/yawn resisted) melee with the occasional physical spell, actinic burst whenever up keeps the fight smooth until the NPCs can be attacked keep cocoon up as well. Self distortion almost one shots them. - Grimz,Butta,Msbutta - Remora
• Practically soled by 75 PLD/RDM making sure to keep Phalanx and Stoneskin up. Did have 63MNK/NIN helping but they died within minutes with all 3 NMs still up.
