Walkthrough

Part 1: Obtaining a Black Book

• After the cutscene in Quifim, head to Norg and speak to Andrause at (I-8).
• In order to get the Black Book from him, he will ask you take pictures using a Soultrapper of mobs in the Sea Serpent Grotto.
  • He will give you a specific list of mobs for you to take pictures of.
  • He will offer to sell you a Soultrapper and a stack of Blank Soul Plates for 800gil.
  • To take a picture, equip the Soultrapper in your ranged slot, and the Blank Soul Plates in your ammo slot. You can then use the macro /item "Soultrapper" <t> to take a picture of a mob. You don't have to engage the mob to take a pic.
  • Some monsters can only be found behind doors requiring certain beastcoins for entry:
    • Open Area: Bigclaw, Brook Sahagin, Riparian Sahagin, Rivulet Sahagin, Royal Leech, Undead Bats and Grotto Pugil (on first map at M-11), .
    • Silver Beastcoin door: Sea Bonze, Grotto Pugil.
    • Mythril Beastcoin door: Blubber Eyes, Bog Sahagin, Marsh Sahagin, Rock Crab, Razorjaw Pugil, Sahagin Parasite, Swamp Sahagin.
    • Gold Beastcoin door: Devil Manta, Dire Bat, Lagoon Sahagin, Delta Sahagin, Coastal Sahagin, Mousse, Robber Crab, Shore Sahagin.
      • I was able to grab a picture of a Shore Sahagin that was up on the ledge with Mindgazers from down below (took 2 tries).
  • Remember you can not take a picture while sneak is active. (Mob's behind Gold door agro 75)
• Andrause likes to pick three mob's, one from behind each of the Beastcoin doors.
• Andrause will not accept pictures of monsters not taken in Sea Serpent Grotto.
• Trade these back to Andrause one at a time.
• Once you have traded all 3 he will give you the Black Book (He mentions that if another is required you can return to him.)
• Please be aware if you throw your Soultrapper away, Andrause will ask you to wait until the next shipment arrives. (At a guess JP midnight unconfirmed at time of posting.) You can alway purchase the Soultrapper & Blank Soul Plates from Zandjarl, The Colosseum (F-7).

Part 2: Gustav Tunnel

• Zone into Gustav Tunnel from Cape Terrigan or Valkurm Dunes and find the Outcropping at (F-10).
• Check the Outcropping once for a CS.
  • If you're in a party and forget to click the Outcropping before the fight you will get the message "Now is not the time for that!" You must then leave Gustav Tunnel and reenter to get the initial CS.
• Checking the outcropping a second time will give the option to start the next mission: Enemy of the Empire (II) a fight vs. 3 Tenshodo members.
  • The Black Book is taken when the battle begins. You must redo the Black Book quest if you lose the battle, else you will not get credit.
