Your First Eggs

Your first goal is to figure out what is going on. Basically in each city there are some Moogles that are giving out initial eggs. You get one free egg every Earth hour (or Vana'Diel day) from the Moogle in the center. Your first goal will be to collect the first 3 letters of your name in eggs. Trade them in and you will earn your Egg Helm. However, it is not as hard as getting a random egg and finding people with the eggs you need. Rather, you can find someone named such that their first initial and the egg you need are the same. For example if you invite "Chapel" you will get a C egg. If you are partied with multiple people you will get to choose which one you want. If the person you pick is wearing the Egg Helm at this time, you will get the first two letters of their name.

  • You will get one bonus event egg randomly by trading any of the following to the Moogle:
    1. 12 Bird Eggs
    2. 1 Soft-Boiled Egg
    3. 6 Lizard Eggs
    4. 1 Colored Egg
  • You will get two bonus event eggs (same letters) by trading the following:
    1. 1 Party Egg (HQ of colored egg)
  • You will get three bonus event eggs (same letters) by trading the following:
    1. 1 Lucky Egg (Rare drop from some Crawlers)

Warning: If your inventory is full when you speak to the Moogle for your free egg, the moogle will try to give you the egg and you will receive the message "You cannot obtain the "<Letter>" Egg". You will not be able to get another free egg until the next Vana'diel day, your egg for the current day was lost.

Rewards

Rewards for "7 of a kind", "Initial 8", as well as the Orphic Egg and National Eggs are the same as last year. However, this year they've added the Jeweled Egg as well. To obtain a Jeweled Egg, first obtain one of the National Eggs, either from this year, or one you've kept from previous years. All you have to do is trade the first 5 letters of a region controlled by the nation you have a Nation Egg for, and you will receive a Jeweled Egg. For example, if you have a Flower Egg, you check the conquest, and trade the first 5 letters of any region controlled by Windurst.

Here's a more organized recap on how to obtain this year's and last year's rewards:

Before getting any of the reward eggs for the event, you must first complete the "First Three."

First Three

  • The "First Three" is the first three letters of your name.
  • Thus, if your name was Moogle, you would trade an 'M', an 'O' and an 'O' to complete the "First Three."

Reward - Egg Helm
Egg Helm
Repeatable - Yes, but you will receive a different prize (colored drops, chocobo tickets, etc.)

Once you have completed the "First Three," you may do any of the following combinations.

Seven of a Kind

  • "Seven of a Kind" is seven eggs of the exact same letter.
  • Thus, any seven eggs of the exact same letter ("A"x7...."Z"x7) are acceptable.

Reward - Fortune Egg or Happy Egg
Fortuneegg
Repeatable - No, if you currently already have a Fortune Egg and a Happy Egg.

Initial Straight Eight

  • "Initial Straight Eight" is eight consecutive letters of the alphabet starting with the first letter of your name.
  • Thus, if your name was Moogle, you would need an 'M', 'N', 'O', 'P', 'Q', 'R', 'S' and 'T'.
  • If you name starts with "Y", you would need 'Y', 'Z', 'A', 'B', 'C', 'D','E' and 'F'
  • Also "Eight of a Kind" is eight eggs of the exact same letter works too.
  • Thus, any eight eggs of the exact same letter ("A"x8...."Z"x8) are acceptable.

Reward - Happy Egg
Happy Egg
Repeatable - No, if you currently already have a Happy Egg.

National Eggs

  • There are three different furniture eggs, one representing each nation. These may be placed in your Mog House layout.
  • To obtain these eggs, trade eggs corresponding to the first five letters of a region that is currently controlled by the nation whose egg you want.
  • Thus, if you want the egg representing Bastok, and Bastok currently controls the Gustaberg region, you would need to trade the letters 'G', 'U', 'S', 'T' and 'A'.

Reward

Repeatable - Yes, as long as you do not have all the National Eggs yet.

Orphic Egg

  • The Orphic Egg is obtained by trading letters corresponding to the element for the day.
    • Fire will work on Firesday.
    • Air will work on Windsday.
    • Light will work on Lightsday.
    • Ice will work on Iceday.
    • Dark will work on Darksday.
    • Water will work on Watersday.
    • Earth will work on Earthsday.
    • Thunder will work on Lightningday.

Reward - Orphic Egg

Repeatable - No, if you currently already have the Orphic Egg.

Jeweled Egg

  • Once you have a national egg (see above), simply trade eggs corresponding to the first five letters of a region that is currently controlled by the nation whose egg you have already received.
  • Thus, if you have the egg representing Batok (Lamp Egg), trade eggs corresponding to the first five letters of a region that is currently controlled by Bastok to receive the Jeweled Egg.
  • When trying to get the Jeweled Egg, make sure that you do not have the national egg in storage. If you do have the nation's egg in storage, you will get another of that nation's egg instead of the Jeweled Egg.

Other Rewards

  • Trading the first five letters for a Beastman controlled region will get you a Beastman Costume.
  • Trading the letters for "Orphic" will get you a Beastman Costume.
  • Trading the incorrect element for the day (I.E. Light on Windsday) will get you a colored drop that matches the element you traded, unless you already have one, then you will get nothing.
