Notes/Description
- The success rate of this ability is greatly affected by CHR, and can be estimated with Gauge.
- CHR also increases the resistance against Charm (from a monster that uses charm).
- Some gear will give Charm +, which does not affect the charm success rate, but increases the duration of the Charm (from the initial value based on the level difference between the beastmaster and the pet).
- It has been reported that +1 charm seems to increase the duration of charm by 5%. +20 charm doubles the duration of charm. +Charm Test
- The Light Staff and the HQ version, Apollo's Staff increase success rate by roughly 10% and 15%, respectively.
- If charm fails, the mob will attack you.
- Some enemies cannot be charmed at all.
- If this ability is used against an enemy that cannot be charmed, target will be bound for a short time. Be careful, as the mob will be considered engaged and will attack after it becomes unbound.
- A non-charmable mob cannot be charmed (bound) if there is an active pet.
- The ability cannot be used on an enemy that is in Call for Help status.
- A mob with the Beastmaster job, while able to charm players, cannot Charm a player's pet.
- When Charm expires, the former pet will attack you unless you are at least 30' away, and under Deodorize if the mob tracks by scent.
- See also Beastmaster Charm Guide
- When Beastmaster is set as your sub job, Charm will be based on the main level of your Beastmaster job. Example: If your Beastmaster job is only level 37 and you set it as a sub for another level 75 job, even tho a mob may con Easy Prey to you at 75, it would be considered Incredibly Tough for your 37 Beastmaster and it would be next to impossible to Charm it. However, if you're Beastmaster job were level 75 and you set it as a sub to another level 75 job, and a mob was Easy Prey, it would also be considered Easy Prey to your level 75 Beastmaster making it just as easy to Charm as if your main job were set to Beastmaster.
