
Rhapsodies of Vana'diel is the main storyline finale of the Final Fantasy XI saga that brings characters from all the stories together in a struggle against a mysterious force that desires to blanket the world in Emptiness.
These missions are automatically available to all players, but require Rise of the Zilart, Chains of Promathia, Treasures of Aht Urhgan, Wings of the Goddess, and/or Seekers of Adoulin to be registered and missions within completed to progress past certain parts. Abyssea and the three add-on scenarios are not required.
The missions are set up to be completed by players with a wide variety of levels, starting as low as approximately level 10. It's also recommended you have access to Teleport-Holla, Teleport-Dem, or Teleport-Mea, whether through spells or a ring. Dem Ring is usually on the Auction House because it's a regular drop in the popular BCNM Up in Arms. The fastest alternative way to get to a crag is from Maze of Shakhrami via Survival Guide or Atmacite Refiner. La Theine Plateau via Survival Guide is also a very quick method and doesn't require the need to zone after the initial teleport.
A full, official list of missions from other expansions that lock progress in this one can be found here. For new characters with no mission progress, you need these minimum requirements to finish Rhapsodies:
- Finish The Shadow Lord to get Rank 6.
- Finish Rise of the Zilart until you flag Headstone Pilgrimage.
- Finish Chains of Promathia until you flag The Road Forks.
- Finish Treasures of Aht Urhgan until you flag Royal Puppeteer.
- Finish Wings of the Goddess until you flag In the Name of the Father.
- Finish Seekers of Adoulin until you flag Behind the Sluices and obtain
Waterway facility crank.
As of the July 2023 Version Update, adventurers are given a choice whether or not to begin Resonance. This will record the mission To Start RoV... in their log. To advance, interact with the Tales' Beginning at any of the following locations to progress this mission line:

- Bastok Mines (I-9)
- Bastok Markets (I-8)
- Port Bastok (D-7)

Types[]
- Cutscene is a single cutscene or multiple cutscenes.
- Quest is an assignment to go somewhere (possibly dangerous) for a cutscene or to retrieve/deliver an item, but no fighting required.
- Fight requires you to fight a Notorious Monster. Usually open to outside help.
- Battlefield requires qualified party members to fight Notorious Monster(s) within a battlefield instance.
