Moblin Maze Mongers is a system that allows players to create built-to-order dungeons ("mazes") with custom settings and rules, that can be enjoyed alone or together with friends.
- Requires the installation and registration of the Wings of the Goddess expansion.
How to Get Started
- Talk to Goldagrik, located in Muckvix's Junkshop in Lower Jeuno (H-9). You will be given a Maze Tabula, Maze Voucher, and two Maze Runes, which are necessary to order mazes. You will also be given a key item, the Tattered Maze Monger Pouch, which will hold the vouchers and runes you acquire.
- Use the Maze Vouchers and Maze Runes you obtained to place them in your Tattered Maze Monger Pouch.
- Use your Maze Tabula to put together an order form for your maze--selecting a maze voucher to specify the goal of the maze, and placing runes to control the maze. You can rotate your rune pieces using the menu button (key) to help fit them together.
- Take your completed Maze Tabula to the Chocobo Stables in Lower Jeuno (G-11) and trade it to the Maze Mongers Shopfront located there. After confirming the settings and paying the construction fee, you will be transported to the maze entrance lobby.
- The time spent in the maze entrance lobby area counts toward the total time (30 minutes by default) you have in the maze.
- Conduct any pre-entry preparations you see fit before entering your maze. Talking to Packapic will allow you to confirm your maze settings, obtain temporary items and even customize the music. When you are ready to enter the maze, you may do so by speaking to Rediroq.
- You can Level Sync off and on in your maze at anytime.
- Normal zoning rules apply, there is no level cap so you will not lose buffs on entry.
- You will lose experience points for death in a maze.
- Reraise will wear if you are booted from the maze once everyone in your party has died. Similar to BCNM's, an individual has 3 minutes to regain consciousness before being removed from the maze.
Ordering a Maze
You can order your own Maze once every real life day. This timer resets at Japanese Midnight.
- Select your Maze Tabula after placing one or more Maze Vouchers and Maze Runes in your pouch.
- Choose your completion objective by selecting the corresponding Maze Voucher.
- Optionally set Maze Runes to configure more detailed settings for your maze.
- Your Maze Tabula may contain black squares. These squares cannot hold runes, so make sure to rotate them so they do not overlap these squares.
- Your Tabula may also hold elemental squares, which will increase the strength of aligned runes placed on them. Opposing elements and ascendancy do not apply to Maze Runes.
- Neutral runes cannot be enhanced and will not be affected by elemental squares.
Maze Objectives
The objective of your maze depends upon the Maze Voucher used with your tabula. There are eight objectives that can be set:
Sanitization Team Alpha
- Implemented by using Maze Voucher 01
- Objective
- Slay all enemies within the maze.
- Difficulty
- The lowest level member of the party determines the level range of the monsters in the maze. The monsters will check between Decent Challenge and Tough to the lowest level character in the party.
Monsters defeated in a maze will only grant 50% of their usual experience. (IE, an even match gives 50 exp, this is because 50% of the Exp from Monsters goes to the "Chest" that appears upon completion of the Maze. Exp that goes to the chest is Doubled.)
Sanitization Team Beta
- Implemented by using Maze Voucher 02
- Objective
- Slay the waves of enemies that descend upon you.
- Difficulty
- The lowest level member of the party determines the level range of the monsters in the maze. The monsters will check between Decent Challenge and Tough to the lowest level character in the party.
Sanitization Team Gamma
- Implemented by using Maze Voucher 03
- Objective
- Slay all enemies as you advance through a multi-floor maze.
- Difficulty
- The lowest level member of the party determines the level range of the monsters in the maze. The monsters will check between Decent Challenge and Tough to the lowest level character in the party.
Materialization Team
- Implemented by using Maze Voucher 04
- Objective
- Synthesize all required items.
- Difficulty
- The level of the monsters in the maze scales to the highest level member of the party. All monsters check as Impossible to Gauge.
Actualization Team
- Implemented by using Maze Voucher 05
- Objective
- Train and equip Chaperix to protect his village, by proving himself in a final encounter.
- Difficulty
- The level of the monsters in the maze scales directly to Chaperix's current level with a bonus or penalty depending on the quest being done. All monsters check as Impossible to Gauge.
Appropriation Team
- Implemented by using Maze Voucher 06
- Objective
- Retrieve the requested number of treasures without being discovered.
- Difficulty
- The level of the monsters in the maze scales to the highest level member of the party. All monsters check as Impossible to Gauge.
Liquidation Team
- Implemented by using Maze Voucher 07
- Objective
- Defeat one hard Boss.
- Difficulty
- Difficulty seems to be affected only by the runes you set. The Notorious Monster will NOT be graded down to match your lowest level party member.
Aquatic Depopulation Team
- Implemented by using Maze Voucher 08
- Objective
- Catch and turn in fish totaling a set number of points before NPC's do.
- Difficulty
- Difficulty seems to be affected only by the runes you set.
Rewards
Upon successful completion of a maze, you will be rewarded with the appearance of a treasure chest (Hoardbox). Opening the chest may grant you items, experience points (when appropriate), and Moblin Marbles. Note that in the case of experience point rewards, only players who are in party with the player that opens the box will receive any experience.
For details on the goods that can be redeemed with Moblin Marbles, speak with Chatnachoq in Muckvix's Junkshop in Lower Jeuno (H-9). These rewards include additional Runes, Tabula, and Vouchers, as well as exclusive aesthetic equipment and titles.
