Leeches

These pustule-like amorphs can be found not only all over the land, but also in many, if not all, of the waters of Vana'diel. The leeches are forced to hop from place to place rather than slide or slither like their slimier relatives in the amorph system.

Leeches can be very dangerous foes, a leech can attack quickly and have been known to possess extremely high longevity, as well as the ability to double attack often; thusly individual battle with leeches is not recommended. All leeches seem to share a common – and highly desired – item, Carbuncle's Ruby. For those seeking to test their skills with the power of summoning avatars, this ruby will be the start of your journey. For this reason alone, leeches are hunted and slaughtered en masse.

For those looking to craft from the remains of the leech, mostly what remains are various types of blood, whether that of a fiend, beastman, or bird.
