Overview

Great axes are two-handed weapons used primarily by the Warrior job, though they are sometimes wielded by Dark Knights. They are very high-damage, high-delay weapons with powerful weapon skills.

Great axes are a unique weapon class in that some of its weapon skills, like Sturmwind and Keen Edge, are intended to produce large amounts of damage, while the series of break weapon skills, like Armor Break and Weapon Break, are intended to cripple the enemy's combat effectiveness while dealing moderate damage. Thus a great axe-wielder gains versatility by choosing between raw damage output and strategic enfeebling.
