Corpselights

It is speculated that the tide of death and destruction unleashed during the strife of the Crystal War gave rise to this new breed of vengeful spirit. Very little is currently known about these skull and tail creatures. However, what is known continues to puzzle scholars even today. Records from the later days of the Crystal War indicate that these Spirits were only ever observed in the Shadowruled Northland regions. Perhaps these Spirits are the unfortunate souls of warriors slain during those days of strife; tainted by the dark energy of the North, and unable to find peace. This theory seems to explain why, due to the relative peace of the Northlands today, the curious enigma of the spirits have long since vanished.

Spirits have been reported to possess extrodenarly powerful magic; yet many records also claim of the relative ease soldiers had in dispatching these creatures, back to the grave.

Today, save for rumors of dwarf-like creatures residing in the Near East that are said to have enslaved spirits to use at their disposal, all modern awareness of the existence of spirits have faded from human memory.
