Bat Trios

Bat Trios Always found in a triplet, these small bats are found in nearly every area of Vana'diel – and at every level. While those that live in the areas just outside of the three starter Nations are defeated too quickly to develop, there are also those that reside in the depths of Halvung or Newton Movalpolos that can best even the most prepared explorer. While their area attacks can damage or enfeeble whole parties, it is their direct damage three-hit attack that can send an attacker to a quick exit from a fight. These bats are also trained by a number of Beastmen in Vana'diel, and can often be seen trailing their masters, ready to assist in any fight. When defeated, these bats will typically drop wings and fangs – which can be used by crafters – although their supply is usually plentiful. Some varieties of bats can drop rarer items, such as blood (like Beast Blood, Fiend Blood, or even Dragon Blood), or keys (like a Fei'Yin Chest Key, Garlaige Chest Key, or Toraimarai Coffer Key).

Although they are called "Bat Trios" in Pankration, they are identified as the "flock bat" family by Ryo. Attn. Beastmasters: Although technically bats are chiroptera (mammals), which are typically considered beasts, in Vana'diel bats are considered birds. This is due to the fact that they occupy the same niche, or position in the ecosystem, as birds. However, these bats do NOT count as birds for Magian Trials.
