Axes are one-handed weapons that have high damage and high delay. They are used primarily by Warriors and Beastmasters but also by Dark Knights, Rangers & Rune Fencers can equip axes like Fransisca and Kriegsbeil mainly for their considerable bonuses to ranged attack and ranged accuracy.
Axes are damage powerhouses intended to utilize damage-over-time to the fullest with strong weapon skills such as Rampage to back up their damage-over-time efficiency. A Warrior/Ninja or Beastmaster/Ninja after level 20 gets the advantage of wielding two of these powerful weapons while eliminating some of their delay, further increasing their damage-over-time potential.
It should be noted that because the most damaging axe weapon skills are multi-hit, accuracy should play an important role in an axe-wielder's weapon skill gear.
