A Blue Mage (BLU) can employ the legendary arts of the Aht Urhgan Immortals, a unit of elite imperial special forces. These formidable fighter-mages employ elegantly curved blades for close combat, while decimating their enemies from afar with fell magic mastered from their opponents.

Blue Mages are a versatile melee-mage hybrid job. Through the careful setting and application of blue magic spells, this job can adapt to almost any situation. They also have access to a wide range of Job Traits.

  • Convergence: This Job Ability increases the base Magic Damage by 5% and Magic Accuracy by 5 of your next magical Blue Magic spell per level. AoE Blue Magic becomes single-target.
  • Diffusion: This Job Ability causes the next enhancing Blue Magic spell you cast to become Area of Effect to nearby party members. Each additional level increases the duration of the spell's effect by 5%.
  • Enchainment: Grants 100 TP Bonus to spells cast under the effects of Chain Affinity per level.
  • Assimilation: Increases the limit on your total Blue Magic Points by 1 per level.

Blue Magic[]

Learning Blue Magic[]

Players learn Blue Magic from monsters they or their allies defeat in combat. In chance to learn the spell is activated only when certain conditions are met:

  • The player's main job must be Blue Mage, and they must not be K.O.'d when the monster dies.
  • The Blue Mage's Blue Magic Skill must be within 30 levels of the skill cap (i.e. the capped Blue Magic Skill of a Blue Mage at the level of the spell) of the desired spell.
  • The monster must attempt to use the ability associated with the spell.
  • The Blue Mage must be in the party or alliance that has claim on the monster, and the Blue Mage must be within Experience Point range of the monster when it is defeated. You may learn Blue Magic from monsters that /check "Too Weak."
  • The Blue Mage must not be under the effect of Allied Tags.
  • You must not be in a Walk of Echoes battlefield.

Using Blue Magic[]

Once learned, Blue Magic must be set for use from the Blue Magic menu, constrained by two variables.

  1. Point Total/Maximum. Each Blue Magic spell is assigned a point value. The level of the Blue Mage, Merit Points spent on Assimilation and Job Point gifts govern the total capacity of Blue Magic set points available for castable spells.
  2. Maximum number of spells. Blue Mages may only set a maximum total number of spells, regardless of set point limits. This is governmed by the Blue Mage's current level.
