Players starting the game as a Black Mage receive an Onion Staff and a Scroll of Stone.

Through devastating magic spells, Black Mages (BLM) bring tremendous firepower to the battlefield. A Black Mage's job is simply to cast offensive spells and destroy enemies. Although they are known for their Elemental Magic, they also possess a few highly-valued utilitarian spells. In battle, Black Mages are often called upon to participate in skillchains by finishing each chain off with a magic burst, adding even more destructive power to a party's repertoire.

  • Manafont Effect: Increases the elemental magic damage by 3 per rank while under the effects of Manafont.
  • Subtle Sorcery Effect: Reduces the casting time of spells by 1% per rank while under the effects of Subtle Sorcery.
  • Elemental Seal Effect: Reduces enmity accrued by casting elemental magic by 3 per rank while under the effects of Elemental Seal
  • Magic Burst Damage Bonus: Increases magic burst damage by 1% per rank.
  • Mana Wall Effect: Reduces MP consumed when transferring damage by 1% per rank while under the effects of Mana Wall.
  • Magic Accuracy Bonus: Increases magic accuracy by 1 per rank.
  • Enmity Douse Recast: Reduces the recast time of Enmity Douse by 2 seconds per rank.
  • Manawell Effect: Increases elemental magic damage by 1 per rank while under the effect of Manawell.
  • Magic Burst Enmity Decrease: Reduces enmity generated by magic bursts by 1 per rank.
  • Magic Damage Bonus: Increases magic damage by 1 per rank.
