Enemies to Charm / Charm Guide[]

Gauge values are how much CHR it takes to make a Level 75 mob Gauge as "should be able to charm", which gives an idea of relative Charm resistance.

Charmable Families

Notes

Charmable Families

Notes

Bees

Decent pet and decent prey. Final sting is a self-destruct type special. Often uses healing TP moves.

Crawlers

Decent pet but better as prey. Lots of DEF but attack is weak and specials are DoE.
Gauge (Processionaire): 106 CHR.

Beetles

High DEF and good ATK make beetles a nice, well-rounded pet. Good for high evasion enemies for TP move "Hi-freq field."

Dragon Flies

AoE special attacks can be problematic but otherwise nice as a pet.
Gauge (Darter): 90 CHR.

Scorpions

Very strong, but is always an aggressor. Can use Death Scissors which can take an Even Match human player in one hit.

Spiders

Good pet and good prey. Sickle slash is a very nice special move, but AoE slow is also used frequently. Gauge (Bark Tarantula): 98 CHR

Pugils

Good pet. Screwdriver is a nice special move.

Crabs

Tank type mob, high defense and stoneskin TP move. Weak AOE TP move, Bubble shower (caution). No double attack.
Gauge (Steelshell): 102 CHR

Mandragoras

Light attacker, a good amount of HP, and blocks many hits at higher levels. Harder to charm but very excellent fighters later in game (Boyhada Tree)
Gauge (Korrigan): 106 CHR

Saplings

Beware: Many AoE TP moves.
Gauge (Boyahda Sapling): 103 CHR

Sabotenders

Tough to charm. Can use 1000 needles after sic and therefore can be dangerous to have one decharm on you with TP. 1000 needles is AOE and damage is Divided between targets.

Birds

Nice Pets, not too hard to charm. Tough special attack called Hell Dive with little chance of terrorize and weak Front Aoe attack.

Giant Bats

Bat Trios

Good pet. Can use Jet Stream after sic. Other sic options are AoE however.

Lizards

Ok pet, TP moves use strong poison and petrify, but has weak defense.
Gauge (Tormentor): 90 CHR

Raptors

Tough to charm, but very strong and fast. TP moves have Knockback/Stun effects.

Rabbits

Decent pet. Frequently uses AoE Whirl Claws attack.
Gauge (Tropical Rarab): 98 CHR

Sheep

AoE sleep is a problem.

Dhalmel

As a pet Healing Breeze is nice (acts as a higher level Curaga for all in BST party) but can also use Berserk - which is not nice for a pet. Whistle is an AoE large Agility boost that will hit anyone in the party.

Tigers

Hard attacker, have double attack, good DD for parties. Often use AoE Paralyze though.

Opo-opo

Resistant to charm. If you charm one they make nice pets however. Many TP moves, high HP, strong defense and attack.

Coeurls

Great pet, not resistant to charm and Paralyze TP attack is very strong.

Slimes

Resistant to charm but make excellent pets. Don't try to charm EM slimes without high CHR and a light staff, but easier ones are charmable.

Hecteyes

Will cast black magic if TP is not full on sic. Hard to charm.
Gauge (Million Eyes): 109 CHR

Leeches

Great pet. High DEF to physical attacks and good ATK. Easy to charm. Special attacks are decent only.
Gauge (Blood Ball): 86 CHR

Funguars

Very good DD, including strong status effects like Spore (Paralyze) and Dark Spore, as well as Silence gas which can do in some cases 600 damage by level 50.

Worms

Charmable but will not move. Great prey - bad pet. Will cast earth based magic and bind if TP is not full on sic.

Sea Monks

Very hard attacks, but many AoE problems, be careful when using Sic. Weak defense.

Clots

Like slime, with HP drain effect on its attacks

Puks

Hard to charm but have potent sic moves.

Ladybug

Very good fighters in daytime, useful Sic moves.

Colibri

Ones that have magic parroting trait work great against magic using mobs.

Slug

Decent prey, good pet. Good Sic's but Fuscous ooze is useless.

Antlions

Good Pets! Decent def and atk, alot of HP.

Non-Charmable Families

Notes

Non-Charmable Families

Notes

Morbols

Hard and fast attackers, not worth the trouble.

Treant

Has strong Defense and Strong attack, not worth the time

Goobbues

Hard Hitting, Have Silence, Paralyze and Bind Special Attacks, good for exp/farming in later levels.

Cockatrice

Has petrify attack which can be dangerous and require numerous pet swaps. They have rather weak defense though. Can be fought by using Heel quickly on pet just before Baleful Gaze goes off.

Adamantoise

Rams

Manticores

Lots of high damage moves.

Behemoths

Skeletons

Weak against Giant Bats and Bat Trios, as well as Pugils. AoE drain attack and AoE blind + damage.

AoE Paralyze, but a surprisingly small aggro radius.

Ghosts

Very bad to level on, High resistance to physical attacks.

Doomed

Tough targets, not recommended

Shadows

Bombs

Make excellent prey at certain levels. Stay out of the way of self-destruct and let your pet do the fighting. Strong attack and weak defense.

Dolls

Self-Destructs.

Magic Pots

Great to level on for money, weak to things like Jet stream. Spend a lot of time casting magic, so be ready to run out of range. Weak defense as BLM types, so easy kill.

Cardians

Evil Weapons

Bat Trios seem to do well against them.

Golems

Spheroids

Often have very low HP (about 500) but summon nastier things.

Mimics

Wyverns

Dragons

Gnats

Demons

Rafflesia

Buffalo

Ahrimans

Hippogryphs
