- Spawned by using Ethereal Junction at either (J-8, I-10, D-9), on Map 4. Must have relevant Unity Wanted quest set and have sufficient Unity Accolades.
- Upgraded version of Charybdis. Has approximately 100k Hit Points. Is particularly susceptible to Light Skillchains.
- Bakunawa is assisted by two Kanavids who spawn immediately after engaging the player.
- Kanavids will target whoever spawned Bakunawa and respawn quickly after being defeated.
- Bakunawa uses Maelstrom immediately after spawning.
- Uses standard Sea Monk abilities.
- Will use Mighty Strikes once. Bakunawa emits an Avoidance Down aura during Mighty Strikes.
Derivations[]
The Philippine Bakunawa, or "eclipse," was a deity that fell in love with the 7 moon gods' beauty, but grew jealous of mermaids attentions to one of them, transformed into a huge sea serpent that tried to eat all 7 moons, and consequently was banished to guard the gates to the underworld at the bottom of the sea (Bicolano Myths). It also has its mouth in the center of its belly (Death Mage Wiki), which would approximate a sea monk mouth location.
